Scripture Summary:

In Ephesians 6:1–9, Paul provides practical instructions for household relationships rooted in Christ. He begins by urging children to obey and honor their parents, which is the first commandment with a promise—so that they may enjoy a good and long life. Fathers are instructed not to provoke their children to anger, but to raise them with godly training and instruction. Paul then addresses bondservants (slaves), telling them to obey their earthly masters with sincerity, as if serving Christ Himself, not just to win favor. Likewise, masters are told to treat their servants with respect, remembering that both master and servant have the same Master in heaven, who shows no favoritism.
