Shondaland's Shady Men

from Assume It Will Be Brilliant · host Assume It Will Be Brillant

In this episode, Nomsa and Portia discuss some of Shonda's shady men from Grey’s, Scandal, How to get away with murder, and private practice. We're talking: the straight up villains (Papa pope and Cyrus ), the sociopaths (Frank and Hucks), the all-women-are-disposable-except-my-special-women guy (Mark), those who've evolved from toxicity (Alex and Connor), those who'll probably always get a pass for their bad behaviour (Derek and Fitz), and those whom we actually truly love for not being any of the above (Ben, Linc, and David Rosen). As always we hope you enjoy! The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
