Show #461 - Getting Rid Of Covenants Description In this episode, we discuss the Passion narrative and the age old debate of the chronology. A question is posed about the word that is used in the text for “bread”. Why would the author not use the word for unleavened bread if this was truly a Passover meal? Then we turn to a video where to Christian brothers discuss the covenant of Abraham and how circumcision can be done away with. Although this story that is given to justify doing away with the covenant is perhaps the best we have heard, it falls drastically short. Finally, a look at the suggestion that the “Christian” Jesus is not the Messiah of the Bible and how we view such a claim. Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
