Signs You are Unhappy in Your Relationship

from The Relationship Guy

Due to the complexity of relationships and the danger of over-attachment, many are often unaware that their relationship is unsatisfactory. The signs that you are not happy are often ignored or unnoticed because of your pace of life or your desire to stay within a relationship to avoid upsetting others that are reliant upon it. John describes a few of these signs to watch out for so you can make an informed decision moving forward.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Watch out for breakdowns in communication. Good communication is essential in a healthy relationship.  Make sure you are not using denial as an avoidance strategy. You may just be providing an image for others to see or possibly for yourself to see. You or your partner may constantly criticise. This is a sign of a resentful relationship.  Projection onto others of your unhappiness may well be a way of you coping as you may feel more comfortable shifting focus from your issues. Difficult intimacy may pinpoint problems between you. You may be avoiding being alone together or creating blocks to spending time. Unconscious or conscious compartmentalisation of your life to protect yourself or other sections from an unsatisfactory relationship can be a coping strategy to avoid confronting your unhappiness.   BEST MOMENTS ‘Communication is one of the biggest issues in relationships when they aren’t working out and as I have likely said on many podcasts and has been said many times by my guests, this is an essential in relationships.’ ‘On the whole, denial will make things a whole lot more difficult and things will just escalate and bite you on the bum when you least expect it.’ ‘This means that you are able to keep your own unhappiness at arms length and it’s no longer you that has the problem as the problem is theirs.’ ‘Feeling appreciated and valued by your partner is another essential of the relationship. ‘Maybe you are changing and they aren’t on the same journey as you any longer or no matter how much you communicate and try to work on this journey together it seems that you are drifting further apart.’  VALUABLE RESOURCESLinks: www.johnkennycoaching.com The Bicycle Affect: https://youtu.be/oO7XZGvdWnoRelationship Video course and 1-2-1 coaching: Relationship Ready Online Programme - John Kenny (johnkennycoaching.com)To get in touch - email – [email protected] or book a complimentary call –https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30minIf people want to order a copy of the book then they can just pay postage of £4.95 (RRP £8.99) - www.johnkennycoaching.com/podcast-book-offerWant to be able to address the relationship issues in your life? - Why not book in for a complimentary call and we can discuss how you can get the new started with some new types of relationships - https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30minThe Relationship Guy Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/the-relationship-guy  ABOUT THE HOST I am John Kenny, Award Winning Relationship Coach.Coaching people to experience healthy loving relationships.
