Singleness & The Family Of God
from Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church · host WEPC
"So then he who marries his betrothed does well, and he who refrains from marriage will do even better." - 1 Corinthians 7:25-40Singleness, a growing phenomenon in our culture today, stands in stark contrast to the past. Less than a century ago, singleness was uncommon, with people often marrying straight out of high school or a few years after. Today, we see a shift toward independence over interdependence. More individuals are choosing to cohabitate, enjoying the perks of marriage without the commitment, and walking away the moment challenges arise. Is singleness bad? By no means. In fact, the Apostle Paul would even argue that singleness is preferable to marriage. But it’s not just about singleness—it’s about singleness with intent. A deep, focused devotion to the things of the Lord. It’s about finding contentment in dedicating oneself entirely to God's will and to serving the church. Marriage is a beautiful thing, but it comes with many challenges, responsibilities, and a devotion not only to God but also to our spouse. This Sunday, we will continue our "I Still Do" series and explore the beauties of singleness, emphasizing its importance in the local church. We will also challenge all married people to be reminded of the things above and not to become too focused on the things here and now.In Christ,Blake Cox
