This book has it all: excitement, sentiment, destruction of private property (plenty of that), paganism, and a happy ending. The prose is beautiful and occasionally requires the use of a dictionary - I had to look up “asperities.” Written as a children’s story, The Wind in the Willows is enjoyed by many grown-ups who relish Grahame’s ability to evoke the long summer days of childhood. Es geht quer durch die Rocky Mountains, große Natur und Menschen mit besonderen Geschichten: Farmer, Cowboys, Aussteiger und den Bruder von Elvis – kein Scherz! Für diesen Podcast werde ich nach und nach alle 50 US-Bundesstaaten bereisen, abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade. In der ersten Staffel bin ich auf dem Missouri und Mississippi River von der Quelle bis zur Mündung gepaddelt. Für die zweite Staffel war ich unterwegs an der 3000 km langen Southern Border zu Mexiko. In Staffel 3 ging es ins Heartland und in der vierten Staffel bin ich mit dem Gravelbike einmal die komplette Westküste abgefahren. Entdeckt mit mir zusammen die USA.
