Staying Disciplined with Michelle Beaton

from Small Business Strategy Podcast: Personal Branding Strategies | Service-based Business · host Jacqueline Farkas

Do you ever find yourself lacking motivation to move the needle forward in your business? You’re certainly not alone, and this is what we’re talking about in this episode with Michelle Beaton. Michelle is a Personal Fitness Trainer at BEATS Fitness. She worked in the Hospitality industry a majority of her Career up until September 2021. During College, Michelle and Jacqueline worked together at the Mutiny Hotel in Miami, Florida. Last year, Michelle became unhappy in her career to the point she started becoming more scared to stay the same than to make the change. She doubled down and got her certification for Personal Training and was able to secure a job at a gym. Michelle always had the intention and desire to work for herself - so she could call the shots and do things as she pleased - aligned with her morals and values. She reconnected with Jacqueline one day randomly through FaceBook and then that Journey of working on my Business began and became very real. Michelle had previously attempted to start a Business once before in 2018 while she was still working for Marriott. She even got her Certification in Group Training at that time. But, Life happened and she was not able to keep it going. This time around, she felt it was really meant to be and it was the right timing. Even came up with a name that felt more like me and felt everything had come full circle. Specifically, we talk about: - How Michelle turned a hard phase of life into her dream business - Where the name of her company came from - The challenges she faces every day as a new business owner - The power of being intentional with your time and energy - Why people lack discipline and where it stems from - The mentality behind getting prepared and staying the course of what we want to do Current Business Challenges - As a New Business Owner, Michelle says sticking to a Routine/Schedule is  to ensure time doesn't escape her. - Being too hard on herself  - wanting everything to be perfect instead of perfecting things along the way and accepting where she is in the process. She is learning as she goes and is adopting confidence! Business Advice: Believe in yourself & stay true to yourself - follow your intuition even if it's scary. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
