Strange Fruit #271: Looking Forward On World AIDS Day

from Strange Fruit · host Louisville Public Media

To us, World AIDS Day is a day to commemorate those we've lost to HIV/AIDS, uplift those who are living with the virus, and a reminder for us to fight like hell together to end both the stigma and the epidemic. We’ve dedicated this week’s show to discussing where we are now when it comes to HIV/AIDS awareness. First up, we hear from a wonderful young man named Chad about his journey with HIV, from his recent diagnosis, to the ensuing depression, and his eventual path to resiliency and empowerment. His story is moving, powerful and awe-inspiring. Later in the show, Rhonda Cowan and Ryan Benningfield from Volunteers of America (VOA) join us to drop some HIV 101 knowledge and talk us through what to expect when going to get an HIV test. Volunteers of America offers free, anonymous HIV testing at their office at 933 Goss Avenue. More information at (502) 654-8389 or on their website.

Wisdom's Proof JesusLifeTogether In a world of religion, ritual, hierarchy, control, money, marketing, and more flavors than 10,000 Baskin Robbins — how can we know what is Right and True? Some just give up. Bad move. JESUS LIVES and REIGNS! Some simply "go along to get along" to conform to culture and biological family. Really bad move, unless you are a lemming and don't care about the destiny someone else has chosen for you. But then JESUS, knowing this day would come, said, "By their fruit you shall know them" and "Wisdom is PROVED RIGHT by all her CHILDREN." Luke 7:35 Find some random offspring from whatever you wish you knew more about, look carefully at the second generation, and see if the gates of Hell are prevailing — as they would in a "mere words" and "mere ceremonies" attendance-based religious organization. OR, is satan getting busted in the mouth by that second generation? What is the fruit and the quality of LIVES of the children - once they can make their own choices? Then you'll Know. Wisdom is PROVED Dark House House Beautiful At the crossroads of true crime, interior design, and the paranormal, Dark House explores beautiful homes that can’t seem to escape their dark histories.
