Interviewed are three residents that have lived in over 30 different sober livings between them. The residents Eddie B. Justin H. and Joey L. share their experience, strength, and hope to help people understand what sober living can do for people. Below is a history of over 50 years of community service to addicts and alcoholics.  History recap. In Loving memory of all Alumni, current board members and all the residents of The Step House of Garden Grove! Ø "The Step house of Santa Ana has always followed the original beginnings of AA as set forth by Bill W. and DR, Bob. Ø "On December 15th, 1973, the first resident was admitted officially to the Step House. It has now been open for over 50 years, serving the community. Talk about, heritage, legacy, and lineage.  Ø  “On December 24, 1973, The Step House of Santa Ana, located at 525 N. Grand St., Santa Ana, Ca, was originated as a non-profit cooperation by eleven charter members. Ø  “In 1973 when the house was opened it was believed the only other step house in Orange County was the first step House of Orange County, more commonly known as the “Charlie Street-step house”, in Costa Mesa.Ø “On December 7, 1977, the house on Grand Avenue had to be evacuated to make way for a parking lot. At that time 1,134 residents had come through the doors and there was a growing list of alumni who were sharing up to four years of sobriety.·         The day the house was Bulldozed many people thought that was the end of the step house. Ø  Soon after “The Step House of Santa Ana”, purchased a home at 13472 Gilbert St., Garden Grove Ca. and went right on with the same program.
