TFT154: Nutrition For Thru-Hiking- Interviewing Aaron From Backcountry Foodie

from The Training For Trekking Podcast · host Rowan Smith

In this episode, I interview Aaron Owens Mayhew, founder of Backcountry Foodie. Inside we chat about nutrition for long-distance hikers, how to stay healthy on the trail, simple strategies to keep your energy topped up and much, much more. == Aaron Owens Mayhew is a registered dietitian and ultralight long-distance backpacker, and she has nearly 20 years of experience under her belt as a hiker and nutrition expert. In 2017, she quit her job and began preparing for her first thru hike. During this process, she realized how uniquely qualified she was to plan and prepare meals for outdoor athletes and decided to put her skills to the test. She founded Backcountry Foodie, an online ultralight recipes and meal planning platform, that same year. Since then, Aaron has dedicated her career to helping thousands of hikers enjoy delicious food and improve their performance in the backcountry. She focuses on ultralight, low-volume recipes and meal plans specially formulated for endurance athletes. She and her husband, Chis, now run Backcountry Foodie from their Sprinter van while living in the wilderness full-time. Aaron truly loves curating delicious, functional backpacking recipes and sharing her knowledge with like-minded hikers!   You can find Aaron here: Website: https://backcountryfoodie.com/ Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSUpLNV2Ct1WQWZHhSF3eCw Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/backcountry_foodie/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/backcountryfoodie
