The Carnivore Diet With Nicole Carter

from A Teaspoon of Healing · host Dawn DiMare

Health educator and coach Nicole Carter returns to the show to talk about the carnivore diet and how it helped her heal from long-standing health problems. An ex-vegan, Nicole ate a whole-food plant-based diet for over 15 years, as well as a year as a raw vegan. She describes how her health deteriorated for many years while she was vegan. She was eventually diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. After many attempts to stay plant-based, Nicole slowly added fish and eggs to her diet, at the advice of her doctor. This helped, but her symptoms didn't completely resolve until she went fully "carnivore" or "zero carb." Eating only meat, fish, and eggs, Nicole claims she has healed from her health conditions, has amazing energy and is in the best shape of her life. We also talk about what the carnivore diet is, the many different versions of it, and the environmental impacts of being plant-based or carnivore. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
