In this Real Estate News Brief for the week ending June 1st, 2024... we take a look at how the latest inflation report might influence the Fed's rate-cutting decision, the return of the zero-down mortgage, and two new rent growth reports for single-family homes and apartments.    Hi, I'm Kathy Fettke and this is Real Estate News for Investors. The latest inflation report reignited hope for a rate cut this year. The Fed's preferred Personal Consumption Expenditure index for April shows the overall inflation rate up .3%, which economists had forecast. But the core rate, which strips out prices for food and gas, was a surprise, at an increase of .2%. That's the smallest monthly increase for the core rate this year. The annual overall rate is now 2.7% and the core rate, 2.8%. Both are inching closer to the 2% level that the Fed is targeting...   ...That's it for today.
