The Secrets To Picking VIRAL Video Topics For YouTube with Alyssa Beltempo

from The YouTube Power Hour Podcast · host Erika Vieira

We’re giving you more ways to find awesome video ideas than you can handle! If you’ve ever wondered how to create videos people will want to watch, then wonder no more, because sustainable fashion YouTuber Alyssa Beltempo is here! She’s a scrappy, up and coming YouTuber who’s built her channel up to almost 80k subscribers with a few viral hits along the way. She’s talking all about how she picks video topics that eventually go viral and how to film your videos on the cheap! “Use what you have until you ABSOLUTELY have to buy something new” - Alyssa Beltempo Alyssa was blogging about fashion and doing wardrobe styling for years before joining YouTube. But 2 years ago she wanted to get off the fast fashion roller coaster and switch to slow fashion and sustainable style because it’s better for the world. So she started her channel. Things started slow and gradual but then she had her first viral video. About 9 months into her channel, she threw up a video about wearing a shirt dress in 20 different ways and it blew up. It affirmed for her that consistency - posting a new video every Sunday - wins in the end, and sticking to her niche of slow fashion is her path to gaining traction. She now has 77k subscribers and a few viral videos under her belt to talk about! “Even if I only have 1 person watching, maybe they’ll consider shopping less. Ultimately that's what it’s all about.” - Alyssa Beltempo She started YouTube with a mission to help people shop less and adopt sustainable fashion so at the start her view count wasn’t a huge priority for her. Now she’s seeing her channel as a way to impact more lives with her message. She didn’t start off super polished, her first videos were filmed with an iPhone and an old camera, but it’s been great to see her improve her setup and roll out new video ideas over her YouTube career. In today’s episode, we’re going to be breaking down a number of her viral videos and how she comes up with the ideas for the topics and film concepts for her videos, how to succeed with super minimal filming set up, working with ethical brands for sponsored videos, and so much more.
