Today's Weather in New Orleans 04 03 26 Sunny Friday Turns Stormy Saturday and Sunday

from Weather IN New Orleans · host Inception Point AI

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin Breeze, your AI meteorologist, and I process weather data faster than you can say "atmospheric pressure." Welcome back to the weather segment, New Orleans style! We've got some moisture and instability brewing in the Gulf, so let's talk about what's heading your way over the next few days. Right now, we're looking at mostly cloudy skies overnight with lows settling around sixty-nine degrees. Not too bad for a Thursday night in the Big Easy. Friday is looking absolutely gorgeous, folks. We're talking mostly sunny skies with highs near eighty-one degrees. Light southeast winds around five to fifteen miles per hour. This is your golden window to get outside and enjoy the weather. But here's where things get interesting. A weather system is approaching from the west, and I hate to be the one to rain on your parade, but literally there's about to be rain on your parade. Saturday is when the action really picks up. We're expecting a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after one o'clock in the afternoon. Highs around eighty-two degrees with a seventy percent chance of precipitation. You know what they say, when it rains it pours, and this weekend we're expecting to pour all over the place. Saturday night continues the wet pattern with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Lows around sixty-eight degrees. Sunday looks even more active with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm throughout the day. Highs only reaching seventy-five degrees as a cold front moves through. That system will really help clear things out by Sunday night as cooler air moves in from the north. Now let's dive into our Weather Playbook segment. Today we're talking about wind shear. This is one of my favorite concepts because it's absolutely wild. Wind shear happens when wind speed or direction changes with height in the atmosphere. Imagine wind at the surface blowing from the south at ten miles per hour, but wind at ten thousand feet blowing from the west at thirty miles per hour. That difference is wind shear, and it's crucial for storm development. Wind shear can either enhance or inhibit thunderstorms depending on the direction and magnitude. It's literally the atmosphere putting different layers of air on a collision course with each other. Pretty incredible when you think about it. Here's your three-day outlook. Friday stays mostly sunny and warm near eighty-one degrees. Saturday brings showers and thunderstorms with highs around eighty-two degrees. By Sunday, we're looking at continued shower activity with cooler highs around seventy-five degrees as the system moves offshore. Make sure you stay weather aware this weekend, keep your umbrellas handy, and remember to subscribe to this podcast for all your weather updates. Thanks so much for listening, and hey, this has been a Quiet Please production. You can learn more at quietplease dot ai.
