from Chip Baker- The Success Chronicles · host Chip Baker TSC

Dr. Hunter A. Taylor is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Education and an Affiliated Faculty Member in the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi (UM). He is also the Inaugural Scholar-in-Residence for the Oxford School District. In these roles, he teaches and advises administrators, teachers, coaches, and policymakers from across the state. Before joining the UM faculty, he spent 10 years as a men’s basketball coach and two years as a U.S. Senate staffer. Taylor has also published two leadership books. The first, How to Build a Thick Institution, comes from a TED talk that Taylor gave with Coach Chris Cutcliffe about how they improved Cutcliffe’s high school football program and eventually captured the 2019 Mississippi 6A state championship. It is a reflection on the leadership strategies the duo implemented together. His second, Draw the Line, examines the impact a high school football staff made in rural East Texas over the course of 20 years. The book is told through the lens of current UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor and his long-time colleagues.
