Three Peas In A Podcast Dylan Hogan, Andrea Koid, Kyle Phillips We creators of the Three Peas In A Podcast love everything our planet has to offer. From the depths of the Marianas Trench to the peak of Everest, nature's beauty is ubiquitous. We strive for the preservation of our beautiful world, imagining a time when humans and nature are able to co-exist without encroaching on either's domain. Through the interdisciplinary lens of three Northeastern University students, this podcast delves into prominent topics on the frontier of scientific discovery and their relation to environmentalism. Douglas Hofstadter Professor of Computer Science at Indiana University, Douglas Hofstadter received the 1980 the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction for his book "Godel, Escher, Bach," which has been hailed as "a triumph of cleverness, a bravura performance, an incredible intellectual debut," and drew, from Scientific American magazine, the accolade: "Every few decades, an unknown author brings out a book of such depth, clarity, range, wit, beauty and originality that it is recognized at once as a major literary event. This is such a work." Hofstadter's research focuses on consciousness, analogy-making, artistic creation, literary translation, and discovery in mathematics and physics. His book, Le Ton beau de Marot: In Praise of the Music of Language addresses the nature of language and the challenges of literary translation. Hofstadter himself has translated poems and novels from Russian, French and Italian. He has also reached thousands of readers through a monthly column in Scientific American. Douglas Hofs Canine Nation on Pet Life Radio (PetLifeRadio.com) Eric Brad Canine Nation - A Positively Scientific Look At Dogs and Dog Behavior Canine Nation is about discovery. It’s about getting to what is TRUE about dogs and discarding the myth and lore of living and working with dogs. It’s about challenging what we think we know and asking the dogs to tell us what’s real. It’s about giving science, scientific method, and collected data more credibility than hearsay, anecdotes, and the assertions of self-proclaimed dog 'experts.' Canine Nation started as a way to explore the common issues and ideas about dogs and dog training through short, informative essays. The podcast presents these ideas from the personal experiences of dog owners and the creative solutions they have found in behavioral science and positive training methods. Canine Nation brings the worlds of science and dog ownership together to help promote understanding and satisfying relationships between dogs and their people. The field of medicine and science are inextricably intertwined. PhDs are indeed the first "doctors" predating MDs by hundreds of years. As the body of knowledge has grown the specialties have necessarily diverged but are reliant on each other for translation of science into medical treatments. Host Dr. Melanie Matheu (PhD) highlights the stories of scientific and medical collaboration that have brought us the breakthroughs of the past and discusses the ones we will need in the future.
