from Comics In Motion · host Comics In Motion Network

In this episode we discuss the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. For Comics Background: The Batman character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and was initially created by artist Bob Kane. For years Bob was credited as the sole creator for Batman and it wasn't until 2015, with the release of Batman Vs Superman, that Warner Bros. acknowledged Bill Finger as the co-creator. The Writer, Finger, had significant influence over the costume design including giving him his distinctive cowl, cape and gloves. Recommendations for Batman stories which have influenced this movie: Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller) The Killing Joke (Alan Moore, Brian Bolland) For Movie Background: The movie was hailed as both a critical and financial success, grossing over $400M at the box office. The movie could have been very different from the earlier script revisions looking at Bill Murray as Batman, Eddie Murphy as Robin and and Robin Williams as the Joker! We take a walk through the plot and immersed into the murky world created by Burton, and atmospheric score from Danny Elfman. But does it live up to the expectations and memories we had from watching it all those years ago??   There are SPOILERS So if you havent seen the movie please go see if and then come back for the review.   Support the show with our Amazon link.
