Tx2Tn Podcast Ep172 Casper Mcwade

from Texas to Tennessee with Soule Gravy · host Soule Gravy

Casper McWade is an independent outlaw country singer-songwriter from Oklahoma, known for his raw, heartfelt music that blends traditional country elements with personal storytelling. Born in Seminole, Oklahoma, he was raised by his grandparents in the nearby small town of Little, where he still resides, and was early influenced by gospel music from church. McWade’s style often evokes the spirit of legends like Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, focusing on real-life struggles, dreams, and emotions rather than polished commercial appeal, positioning him outside mainstream Nashville and Texas Red Dirt scenes but with a dedicated following. His career includes performing in beer halls and local venues, where he can energize crowds with danceable tracks or deliver poignant ballads. McWade has released several albums, including the 2020 record Unraveled, which features collaborations and highlights his songwriting prowess, such as the track “The Eagle” that embodies modern outlaw country ethos. He has worked with peers like Cody Jinks, who recorded one of McWade’s songs on his album The Wanting and collaborated on a cover of Alice in Chains’ “Don’t Follow.” More recently, McWade dropped Something for the Pain, recorded at Sonic Ranch studio in Texas and co-produced by Josh Thompson (known for work with Cody Jinks) and Jay Tooke, featuring originals co-written with artists like Josh Morningstar and Bryan Martin, plus a cover of Merle Haggard’s “Motorcycle Cowboy.” With over 23,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, he continues to build his presence through independent releases and live shows.
