Hi Pete here, since I was a teenager I’ve dealt with several symptoms of poor health, including chronic fatigue, and want to say to you - 'I understand how you feel'. If you have experienced even one day of fatigue, this podcast will help you.  If you have experienced chronic fatigue, depression, brain fog, anxiety and many other symptoms of poor health, then you will hear your story in this podcast and also some helpful tips, support, and empathy from me here today. I share my struggles, my story, my failures and the wins I’ve had by embracing, accepting, and understanding what was happening in my body. Since I was a teenager I had fatigue issues, and I learnt to manage them to become Ironman World Champion. I share my tips, and what I have learnt since winning Kona about how fatigue accumulates and how we can mitigate the impact of our lifestyles. I love sharing my story so other people know they are not the only one to have experienced this problem that makes you feel hopeless, useless, and misunderstood in so many ways. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
