During 2019, we produced over 30 episodes, primarily eavesdropping on the 2 Blokes as they chatted.With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the VFL, VFLW & local footy was cancelled (yes, some VFL games have been scheduled but none involving our Geelong Cats) and so the 2 Blokes Chatting podcast went into recess.And then the call came - our local radio station engaged the 2 Blokes to host a live program from 9:00am till 11:00am every Saturday morning, starting on 28 March 2020. And so, 2 Blokes Chatting became The < Headline Books Headline Publishing As a boy, Nathan Penlington had loved Choose Your Own Adventures, the literary phenomenon of the 1980s which thrust the reader into the role of main character and compelled them to make decisions and direct the flow of the story. So, when he discovered a job lot of the first 106 adventures for sale on eBay, there was never any question that he would place a bid. When the books arrived, he lost himself in the old adventures.Yet, as he flicked through the pages, there was another story being written - for, in the margins of each book, were the scribblings of the little boy who had once owned them, a little boy by the name of Terence John Prendergast. In the margins of the books, Terence wrote jokes, hints for adventurers following the same stories as him - and, more troubling still, intimations of a tormented childhood: of the boys and teachers who had bullied him; of the things he hated about himself and had to improve; of his thoughts of suicide and his desperate need to find friends Eddie of Jackson's Gang by Brother Ernest Ryan (1897 - 1963) LibriVox Eddie. That is the only name our young, musically talented hero knew for himself. After being left at a Catholic orphanage as a young child, at the age of nine he is unwittingly adopted into a gang of thieves. Will he be able and maintain his innocence and escape their clutches? And will he ever be able to discover his true parentage?Brother Ernest Ryan was a Holy Cross Brother, the founder of and a prolific author for the Dujarie Press, a Catholic publishing house of Juvenile Saint books for children in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
