Mike Reiss, of The Simpsons, shares the inspiration as a child that served as the first step in a journey to become one of the most successful TV comedy writers of all time. Mike Reiss and Al Jean (ep 55) together were two of the first writers hired for The Simpsons. Mike Reiss was showrunner w/Al Jean before leaving to create The Critic. Mike discusses his time at Harvard as part of the Harvard Lampoon which led to writing gigs on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, It's Gary Shandling's Show, and Not Necessarily the News. Mike and I discuss the Jewish aspect of The Simpsons. Specifically Krusty the Clown's Orthodox Jewish background and Krusty's father on the show voiced by the late great Jackie Mason.
