Winning the Battle, Losing the War

Passage: Judges 8:1-35 Preacher: Derrick McCarson Series: Judges: Defeat and Deliverance Category: Judges, Gideon Summary: We’ve all heard the saying, “They won the battle, but lost the war.” What this proverb refers to is a hollow victory that has no real lasting value OR a victory that comes at such a high cost that it ends up leading to an ultimate defeat in the end. Gideon is a tragic example of this because even though he won a stunning underdog victory against the Midianites, he lost the war with sin. In this message we will see 3 temptations that caused him to end his career in shame.
