He was born in the United States to Coptic Christian parents from Egypt. Ibrahim holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in history from California State University, Fresno, with a focus on Islamic and Middle Eastern history. He also studied at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies.From 2006 to 2010, he worked as an Arabic-language researcher at the Library of Congress. He is the author of four books: The Al Qaeda Reader (2007), Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians (2013), Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West (2018), and the latest one Defenders of the West: The Christian Heroes Who Stood Against Islam (2022).Raymond speaks 3 languages: English, Arabic and Greek. His language skills, particularly in Arabic, have played a central role in his work — especially in translating jihadist texts for his book The Al Qaeda Reader.His writings have appeared in various publications, including the Middle East Quarterly, National Review, and the Washington Times.
