Come as you are: Analysis paralysis and Perfectionism

Reach out to us!Hello lovely listener. Happy New Year; I’ve been meaning to get back to you but I must get something off my chest. I really enjoy making these episodes and I am especially encouraged by your interactions with them, but I‘ve been finding myself in something of a prolonged freeze response; especially in the past months where I struggle to write, record and produce as I used to. Seeing that this podcast is relatively young I didn't think the issues I have with perfectionism would rise to the surface so soon but my need for “Shadow work” as it were has finally come to my attention. This isn’t to say that I won’t be uploading any episodes but I thought it important to say something especially since we’re in the middle of a couple of series’. I also think of this as a way of loosening the self-imposed reins regarding what makes a good episode or podcast in general. As always, thank you for listening and you’ll hear from me very soon.

Book Review: I Made A Place For You by Damian White

Reach out to us!Hello lovely Listener, my name is Lindsay and you’re listening to 2cents podcast Your Audible Anthology. All the poetry books I’ve reviewed so far were by authors in the mainstream. My commentary was merely a drop in an ocean of reviews and I’d echo similar sentiments found in comments typed off the cuff on Amazon or GoodReads. This episode I am delighted to delve into a collection of poetry by Damian White titled: I Made A Place For You. We will explore how he unpacks his story featuring some recitals from him as well as an appreciation of the collections art and how the written and illustrated elements harmonise to give us an immersive experience of Damian’s narrative.Damian's social mediaRead I Made A Place For You

Book Review: Home Body by Rupi Kaur & The Validity of Instapoetry

Reach out to us!Home body is Rupi Kaur’s third book and it has garnered a commendable 4.8 Stars out of 5 on Amazon and 4.1 out of 5 on Good reads. Kaur is seen as the pioneer of the fairly new sub genre of Instagram poetry, and while Instapoetry isn't as aged as other subgenres yet it has amassed a dedicated following, and in the same breath, there is notable criticism directed at it; aside from the one-liners begging for depth and/or elaboration or the unproductive use of indentations, the greater question lingers; is this type of work considered poetry? Tune in to hear more.
