Meet Neuroscientist Nina Kraus on How Our Brain Constructs a Meaningful Sonic World.

In this episode Our Founder Jensine meets with Nina Kraus Nina is a professor at Northwestern University, investigating the neural encoding of speech and music and its plasticity where she is the Hugh S. Knowles Chair.[1] Her Auditory Neuroscience Lab, also known as Brainvolts, examines the biological processing of sound throughout the life span, how it is disrupted in clinical populations (language disorders; concussion), and how it reacts to differing levels of expertise (music; bilingualism). Her work has shown that the hearing brain is vast—engaging our cognitive, sensory, motor, and reward networks. This perspective is illustrated in her book Of Sound Mind: How Our Brain Constructs a Meaningful Sonic World.[2] Investigations are aimed at improving human communication. Kraus’ work is rooted in a desire to bring scientific understanding into educational and clinical settings. Jensine shares in discussion with Nina the vast ways we are connecting to sound; And the future of wellness practices like actively engaging in conversation or learning a new instrument. 32peces supports educational programming to support these methods and efforts through curated after school enrichment courses like ©MusicMakers as our collective continues to learn ways to support these developments with artisans through the medium form. Arts Capacity Founder Holly Mulcahy ; Therapies in discovery gathering data to reach recidivism : How does Arts and Culture collide?

In this episode I am in conversation with the founding member of Arts Capacity and Concert Master Holly Mulcahy. I had so many questions for her and the initiative with this artist. Collecting data, Offering a service tackling a very complicated topic in society today. Holly is an industry leader and to me is a super hero in her capabilities. My discovery of 32peces does not limit my concept of our collective but; in celebration of those providing these active measures in society through their disciplines. Today, Arts Capacity’s is an interactive recital approach brings legitimate culture, much of it new, to the prison environment. Prisoners are treated respectfully as people who can appreciate art. We care more about their feelings and insights than our own, promoting the arts for its ability to re-humanize, restore, and reconcile persons living in stressful and de-humanizing conditions. What they focus is: on the listener, not on the performers; on what the prisoner wants to hear, not on what artist wants to play; the long-term benefit of the prisoner, not our self-gratification.creating a space to offer individuals to share in opinions or personal expression and how that mattered for these Georgia Inmates. The ability and invitation to share. Hollys unique ability to serve. Collecting over 100,000 data points. leading her offer two more prisons of these therapies. Are we seeing recidivism tapping into ISO practices. he phrase “iso-principle” is specific to music therapy and was coined by a music therapist pioneer in the 1950's. The most straightforward definition I have found is this: “[Iso-principle is] a technique by which music is matched with the mood of a client, then gradually altered to affect the desired mood state To support this initiative and learn more please visit : https://artscapacity.org/

    Reimagining Beauty

Mark Getlein Living with Art 10th edition reads "Art Makes looking worth while. Similarly, Art can be beautiful, and beauty is not a requirement of Art" . When I read this early in September sitting with introspective thoughts as leaves began to fall and season changed. I changed a little, I held off recording this founders journal because it was not yet complete. After series of events as the leaves continued to change, I was reminded of What beauty meant to me and me alone the night I bought that dress for the event.
