Rumble on the Rock Football Combine this Week
Rumble on the Rock: College Football Combine 93KHJ Interview | May 18, 2026 American Samoa is about to make history. This Thursday and Friday, the island hosts its first-ever official college football combine, bringing mainland college coaches directly to student athletes here at home. In studio with Joey Cummings on 93KHJ: Coach Alema Teo, founder of All Poly Sports and the Polynesian Coaches Network; Moana Purcell; and Department of Education Director Mary Taufete'e. The event is organized through All Poly Sports in partnership with the DOE. College programs already confirmed to send representatives include the University of Utah, BYU, Michigan, University of Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico Highlands, Utah State, and possibly San Diego State and UCLA. The combine runs Thursday, May 21 at the DYWA Gym (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM), where athletes will be measured and drilled just like an NFL combine: height, weight, wingspan, 20-yard dash, pro agility, vertical jump, and broad jump, followed by position-specific drills. College coaches will evaluate on site. Friday, May 22, a live scrimmage moves to Veterans Memorial Stadium (4:00 PM to 8:00 PM). A key outcome of this event is the launch of a centralized recruiting database tracking athletes from 7th grade through senior year, giving local coaches the ability to hand college recruiters a ready list of prospects by graduation class. Registration is open now. Scan the QR code on the flyer, or pick up a paper form at the door Thursday. Parents must complete the application.
