Show #116 - BigNewsisode
It is time! We teased it on our last episode, but now we can finally make our big announcement. Well, it is big for us, we don't know if you'll agree that it's big news. Anyway, WE ARE MOVING TO MASSACHUSETTS! That's right, we are leaving our home in Phoenix, the place that Heather has lived for her entire life and Kevin has lived since he was 10 years old, and we are moving across the country. This was a very difficult decision, but it has been made. We are looking forward to this new adventure, and we are glad that you, the podcast listener, get to join us on our journey. Unfortunately, this does mean that we probably won't be recording another show for awhile. However, if you're a listener of ours, you're probably used to this treatment by now ;-). However, when you next hear from us, it will probably be while at least one of us is in another state. For more details, please enjoy the show. Show #115 - TechPhxNewYorkisode
It took us a bit longer than we thought it would, but we hold to our promises. This is an episode wrapping up TechPHX 2014 and our most recent trip to New York. I realize this was back in November, but we still wanted to share our fun experiences. The top of the show also includes an update about our fertility situation as well as a teaser for big news to come. So strap yourselves in for a long discussion about our social expeditions. Show #114 - NotAlcoholicsisode
We're back, and this time it's not a pre-recorded show. We've promised that we will be recording shows for TechPHX and our trip to NY, but that's not what's in this episode. We needed to catch everyone up on all the exciting things we've been doing that don't involve travel or going to conventions, so on this show it's all about our social lives and some exciting new changes in our lives. We're also planning on going to the Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest next weekend, so look forward to that show in the future as well. We are in a bit of a catch 22 where we're doing so many exciting things that we want to share with everyone, but because we're doing so many exciting things we don't have time to record podcasts ;-) As always, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, give us a call at 206-424-8301, send us an email, or visit us online at http://www.facebook.com/ageekandhiswife/. Show #113 - Dominican Republicisode Part 3
Now it's three weeks in a row. I'd have to check our notes, but I think this might be a record! Thanks to the technology of pre-recording, we have been able to give you all three shows in a row. This is the third and final episode in our series on our recent vacation to the Dominican Republic. We talk about winding down after our previous excursion, Heather's toe incident, our snorkeling excursion, our last day, and our trip back home to Phoenix. Also, we've been real busy so we should have lots to talk about in upcoming shows, including our TechPHX 2014 recap and our New York trip summary. Show #112 - Dominican Republicisode Part 2
Two weeks in a row! We should record multiple shows at a time more often ;-). This is the second episode in our series on our recent vacation to the Dominican Republic. We talk about some of the people we met while hanging out in our resort, our first venture out into Punta Cana, getting SIM cards for our phones, and a big pool party at the resort. We spend most of this show talking about our excursion to Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. We still have one more episode about our trip coming, and we've been real busy so we should have lots to talk about in upcoming shows, including our TechPHX 2014 recap. Show #111 - Dominican Republicisode Part 1
It's been awhile, but all that means is that we've got a lot to talk about! In fact, we have already recorded three full episodes that we'll be releasing over the next three weeks that will cover our vacation to the Dominican Republic. We stayed in an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana and we had quite an adventure getting there. If you follow us on Facebook, you may already know a bit of the story, but get ready to hear the whole thing with every detail. This first episode covers our trip out to the Dominican Republic and a discussion of our experience at the resort on the whole. We hope you enjoy it, and make sure to check back in the next few weeks to get the rest of our story. Show #109 - CatchingUpisode
We have yet another excellent episode of A Geek and His Wife for you all to consume (I recommend using your ears, but feel free to experiment with other orifices). In this episode, we are playing catch up with all the little things that have happened over the past few months. We had most of these items on our last show notes, but we spent that entire show talking about our Washington trip instead. So this means, we have everything from around the time of Phoenix Comicon to last weekend to talk to you all about. As a result, this episode doesn't really have a theme other than just crap we've been up to. I hope you still are able to enjoy it. Show #108 - Washingtonisode
Hello my friends, and thank you for downloading/listening to the latest episode of A Geek and His Wife. This is a special episode in that you're getting it a little earlier than you probably would have thanks to our good friend Scotty J. That's right, he requested that we record and upload an episode and we obliged. The good news is that we put out a show, the bad news is that we're tired and we're not sure this is the best show we could have produced. However!, we still think it's worth a listen. Please feel free to let us know whether or not you liked this particular show because we were tired as we recorded it (maybe that's as good as being drunk?) Anyway, in this episode we pretty much only talk about our trip to Washington over 4th of July weekend. We meant to talk about more, but apparently we ramble and we ran out of time. Geek Week - Show #15 - E3 2014 Summaryisode
It's a special Episode of A Geek and His Wife, one with no "wife" and two other geeks. That's right, it's another E3 wrap up episode and this time around it's not just Aaron joining me, but Les "Zaldor" as well. I will admit that this ends up in being a bit of slant in the direction of Sony, but I do my best to keep the show neutral. I do my part to stand up for Microsoft, Nintendo, and Pokemon! If you missed E3, or just want to hear our opinions on what interesting things happened during the show, give this episode a listen. We had a great time recording, and I think you'll have a great time listening. Show #105 - DaysOfFuturePastisode
A Geek and His Wife have produced another fun-filled episode for you all to consume! This is a bit of a longer show, but we had a lot of stuff to cover, so it's a packed show as well. Topics of discussion include an update on drinks Kevin has found that do not contain artificial sweetener, Kevin's trip to Detroit, May's Smunch outing, Mother's Day, Kevin's mom in town, a frustrating story involving an iPhone 4S, and lots of talk about movies and shows we've watched. As the show title suggests, this is a comic book heavy episode. However, that's not all we talk about. We also go into our most recent karaoke venue discovery, a wedding, some fancy hot pockets, boardgame drama, eating healthy, and lots more! In fact, I probably should have called this show potpourri because it's full of all sorts of crap. Anyway, we hope you enjoy the show. We are back and it has only been two weeks! At the end of our last episode, we mentioned that Kevin was on his way to pick up his family from the airport after we finished recording. In this episode we talk about what happened with his family in town for a week. We also discuss the movies and TV shows we've been watching (in particular, Captain America and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and how the two tie together.) Don't worry, though, no spoilers! Show #101 - RenFestisode
Due to our lack of frequent episodes and the fact that 90 percent of our 100th episode was trivia, we still have a lot of catching up to do! On this episode of A Geek and His Wife, Kevin and Heather discuss all the exciting things that have been going on since we last recorded a regular podcast. This includes the Amazing Arizona Comicon, a trip to the Renaissance Festival, some unfortunate sickness, and more stuff that's been going on with us. We also spend a lot of time catching up with the entertainment portion of our lives: Movies, TV Shows, and Video Games. We had a fun time recording our show, and hope that you enjoy listening to it. Show #100 - Hundytastic-isode
Wow, we made it to one hundred episodes. It took a lot longer than I thought it would, but hey, we're here now. Unfortunately, I have to start off with apologies. First of all, this show took a lot longer to put together than I thought it would. We really wanted to have some guests on, do a live stream, and allow people to call in. All of that got done, but the technical aspects were a bit more difficult than I thought they'd be. Second, because the setup was different, I was using different software to record our audio. Due to this new setup, I wasn't watching our levels like I normally do. This means that there is a fair amount of clipping/distortion of our voices. Maybe it's just me, but I find it very annoying and wish I hadn't made a mistake like this on our hundredth show. Despite this (hopefully only slightly annoying) error, I think we produced a pretty entertaining episode. We have our good friend Scotty J on for a good portion of the show, my mom calls in, and we have our other good friend Aaron on for part of the show as well. There's lots of trivia, so put your thinking cap on and play along! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions about our show, feel free to give us a call at 206-203-5613 or send us an email. Heyo, Kevin here. Just keeping up my promise of a show sooner than later. We had a great time talking about our Indiana trip and our New York trip, but now it's time to talk about all the other stuff we've been doing recently. We've got a great show for you here where we fall back into a more standard show format with some regular segment action. This includes our regular Social Summary, some new gadgets, another (less exciting) trip, TechPHX 2013, and some movie and TV show discussion. We start right off with what we did the day after we got back from our trip to NY and just go from there. Hopefully our normal lives aren't boring compared to our NY trip! Show #98 - Manhattantastic! Part 3
This is the end of our New York trip wrap up! How exciting. I cannot believe it took us three episodes to discuss this trip, but there you are. We obviously had a great time, as you can tell by us not being able to shut up about it. This episode covers the exciting stuff we did on Kevin's birthday, including a Times Talk with Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart and some awesome karaoke with Scott and Dan. We also cover our last day that was both awesome and bittersweet because it was our last day. We were happy to be home, but instantly began to miss New York. Hello kiddies, welcome to the second New York episode of A Geek and His Wife. It turns out that we love talking, so we still haven't finished talking about our trip in this episode. That's right, the fates have determined that there will be a Part 3 in this Manhattantastic series. On this particular episode, we finish up our Friday discussion, including our trip to the Empire State Building. We then go over our Saturday where we visit the Museum of the Moving Image and a water taxi tour out to the Statue of Liberty. Show #96 - Manhattantastic! Part 1
Did you hear we went to New York? I'm sure this is old news if you follow Heather or me on Facebook, and you may even be sick of us talking about New York at this point. However! - we've only scratched the surface of what we have in store for you. This is part one of our discussion about our most recent trip to the Big Apple. In this episode we cover the first two and half days of our trip. Dang, as I write that out I begin to wonder if this might end up being a three-parter. Anyway, we discuss our housing arrangement (thanks again Scotty J), our first adventure on mass transit, visiting some cool locales, dropping in on the Nintendo World store for the first time, and much more. I hope you enjoy the show, because we've still got a lot to cover! Show #95 - Indianatastic! - 2013 Edition
Hello fine folks! On this episode of A Geek and His Wife we regale you with our adventures in Indiana, Illinois, and a brief stint in Kentucky back in September. The primary purpose of the trip was to attend Heather's cousin's wedding in Chicago, so much of the discussion centers around that topic. However, we also made it to an Aquarium and a few other places of interest so sit tight and get ready for some (hopefully) riveting discussion. As we promised on the last show, we are back for another episode of A Geek and His Wife and we are talking about our experience with the first TechPHX "Unconference" that replaced our previously discussed PodcampAZ. The spoiler is that we had a great time and that Kevin was consumed with his volunteer duties. However, you will have to listen to the show for the details and to hear the other stuff we discuss that has nothing to do with the conference. Show #90 - Mexicotastic
On our last show, we mentioned that we were taking another trip down to Mexico. Well, this episode contains our wrap up of how that trip went. We discuss what we liked and didn't like about our resort, our excursions, and discussion about food. We then follow up with our standard Social Summary, talk about what exciting things we've been doing other than vacationing in Mexico, and how busy this month has already been and even busier the next month is going to be for us. A bit of a warning: we were both drinking during this show and it's a long one so our speech gets a little slurry at the end but I think we still did okay (although I got a little repetitive...) It's been a long time and this is a long episode. It may be the longest we've ever recorded. I don't know, I'm too lazy to check. What I'm not too lazy to do, though is tell you all about what went on in this show! First off, we highlight all the exciting things that have happened since we last talked. That's a lot of stuff and includes two past trips and one upcoming trip, multiple parties and get togethers, and even a new restaraunt we're recommending you check out. We also talk about all the movies we watched this summer and Heather suggest that we actually give them ratings (which Kevin steals a rating scale from a recently canceled podcast and then decides to move to star system.) Heather even gives a tip at the end of the show (so listen to the end.) The entire show clocks in a little over 2 hours so let us know if you made it all the way to the end. Since no one remarked on the last show notes I have a feeling that no one actually reads these things and they actually take a bit of time for me to write so I'm tempted to just stop making them. Instead I will just have a train of random thoughts that I type here and then make a brief statement about what's in the show and then follow up with our contact information and then stop. If you actually find these notes useful, please let me know. In any event, on this particular podcast we have a special guest host. That's right Mr Scotty J joins us on our palindromic 88th episode. I will warn you that I was already pretty intoxicated as we started recording, which I'm sure you will notice immediately since I am slurring. Oh well, we had a fun time recording the show and I hope you enjoy listening to it. Contact information remains the same, you can give us a call at 206-203-5613. It's a little dusty, but I think it's still good. Here, let me clean it up for you. What's on it? Well on this particular Episode you get to find out what Kevin and Heather have been up to since the last one. I think this is the one where they talk about going to a few comedy shows, discuss roller skating in depth, ramble on about movies and work, and even talk about iPhone/iPad apps. Yeah, it's probably one of their better ones, I don't know how I missed it. Hey, come back, you forgot to get the phone number! A podcast, that is what you wanted for the holiday season, right? I tell you what, that is exactly what you are going to get. What we are providing, though, is one long show. It is a full hour an a half of awesome content including the typical updates of Social Summary, Transit Tales, and Vidja Games. However, we also throw in an Ein Update, Kevin's experiences with Jury Duty, our current TV and Movie viewings and more. So, if you are in the holiday spirit and want a bit of spice for the season, go ahead and listen to this show. We promise not to disappoint! Show #84 - BackToFormtastic
Hello fine folks, this episode of A Geek and His Wife is a return to our "standard" show format. The last few shows we've done have been special episodes that highlighted specific big events in our lives. This is a return to the standard segments we normally do when nothing super exciting is going on. However, I'd like to think that we can entertain even if what's been going on with us is mundane. On this particular episode, we discuss Kevin's birthday, our truncated social summary, our newest gadgets, transit tales, and apps, books, and video games. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for the show, please give us a call at 206-203-5613. Enjoy the show! Direct MP3 Download iTunes Subscription RSS Feed

Show #82 - Cozumeltastic
On this very special episode of A Geek and His Wife, you get to hear all about our 10th anniversary vacation to Cozumel. If you have been living under a rock, you may not know we took this trip and that we had a great time. If so, this show is the perfect time to figure out how much fun we had. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, had lots of fun snorkeling and swimming with dolphins, and just had all all around blast enjoying the company of each other and the fun activities together. That is pretty much the only thing we talk about on this show, so if you are jealous maybe you should not listen ;-). As always, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions feel free to give us a call at 206-203-5613. Enjoy the show! Direct MP3 Download iTunes Subscription RSS Feed

Show #81 - 2011 Comicontastic
It's Alive! It has been a little over two months, but A Geek and His Wife are back. We have lots to talk about, but first we need to tell you all about the 2011 Phoenix Comicon. This episode is all about our somewhat recent experiences at this year's Comicon. We start off by giving our overall perception of this year's event and then go into details about the panels we attended. Kevin once again recorded video of the panels we went to, so look for those soon as well. Until then, enjoy the spoken version by listening to this show. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions please give us a call at 206-203-5613. Enjoy the show! Direct MP3 Download iTunes Subscription RSS Feed

Show #80 - Sparrowtastic
This is a podcast about Captain Jack Sparrow... No, wait, that isn't right, it's about A Geek and His Wife living in Phoenix and trying to figure out why the hell the city don't want to pick up our recycling. This show is full of fun and even includes one of our now famous Trivia Challenges! Because Heather's been so swamped with work she's just answering questions this time instead of asking, but you can still play along at home. The rest of the show consists of our regular share of content including what's new with us, how we're staying entertained, some Transit Tales, and our new WTF segment. So stay awhile and glisten, it's another episode of A Geek and His Wife! Please direct any comments to 206-203-5613. Direct MP3 Download iTunes Subscription RSS Feed

That's right, this show was recorded by special request. Our good friend Scotty J is flying out to Phoenix this Friday and he wanted something to listen to during his transit and we are doing our best to entertain for part of his trip. A very typical podcast for us except for Kevin getting over a cold, we discuss what's been going on with us. Topics include our Social Summary of Smunch, Karaoke, and Video Games Live, a roof update, Ein update, Entertainment, and of course some more geeky stuff. Blah, blah, blah, excuse about why this show is so long in coming, thanks for waiting, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, welcome to the latest installment of A Geek and His Wife. I assure you that this episode contains both geeking and wifeing to the nth degree. As we are wont to do lately, we start off withour social summary, lead into what's new with us (including talk about our 10th anniversary trip, vidja games, and Valentine's day), go into listener feedback, an Ein update, Transit Tales, Geeky crap, and end with more video game talk and our WTF of the show. We had a blast recording this episode, and I hope you enjoy listening to it at least half as much! As always, if you have any comments, suggestions, or complaints please give us a call at 206-203-5613. Show #73 - Failtastic
Ho boy, I don't know about you, but this episode had its fair share of difficulties. First off, the new camera and audio setup I tested before recording fell apart once I had everything turned on and plugged in. I have since tracked this down to a weird grounding issue but I have not figured out how I'm going to work around it. Then, there was the problem with me wanting to use Talkshoe to allow live call-ins. I'm still working on figuring that one out. As far as show content goes, we deliver in spades. Not only that, but we have new intros for our segments that are sure to amuse. I mean, who doesn't like listening to me make silly voices? The end of the show is cut a bit short because Ein decides she wants to be part of the podcast, but all in all I feel that we've delivered a meaty show for you to consume. Show #72 - Eintastic
It's a Halloweenie episode of A Geek and His Wife! Unfortunately, while we are recording this show on Halloween, our content is not exactly Halloween centric. However, we do discuss some Halloween topics like the Halloween party we went to and the somewhat Halloween-themed video game expansion that Kevin has been playing. The rest of the time we spend talking about the other things that have been going on it our lives like the new pet in the family (very new!), the crazy hail storm we had earlier in the month, Kevin's recent birthday, and much more. If you're still subscribed, thanks for sticking around with our crazy recording schedule. We will continue to strive to release shows in a more consistent manner. Our intro music was Re:Your Brains from Jonathan Coulton and The music in the middle of the show is Halloween Night by Dino-Mike and was acquired off of MusicAlley from Mevio and both can be purchased for $0.99 if you would like your own copy. Show #71 - Triviatastic
Hello Boys and Girls! I have some exciting news! That is right, it is a new episode of A Geek and His Wife! If you could not tell by the title, a big part of this episode is another Trivia Challenge. I am not sure which one this is, we should be keeping count, but once again it is a return to Geek Movie Trivia vs. Chick Flick Trivia. I hope you enjoy the questions and play along with us! The rest of the show is our standard fare. We discuss what has been going on with us including our frequent trips to the gym, our social gatherings, Heather's new job, and our current sources of entertainment. All in all I would have to say it was a good show. I had fun recording it, I just hope you all have half as fun listening.
