    Episode 57: Seeds of Madness

We're coming at you with Act I of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. This is our very first play that we're discussing, so it's a little awkward at times, but bear with us as we navigate this learning curve. The topics are heavy and all too timely for the state of the world right now, but that makes these discussions all the more necessary. We're back with another Book Club episode, this time with special guest, Katie! In today's Book Club, we read Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson. Please know that there will absolutely be spoilers in here, so if you were planning to read this book anytime soon, avert your ears! While neither of us were particularly fond of this book, our gripes and beefs were on opposite sides of each issue. Weird. But we had a few laughs, a few screams, and now we're ready to read our next book!Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected]Visit our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 56: Up in Flames

This book definitely kept us guessing all the way through the end, and there are still some questions unanswered, but we're very excited to be finishing up The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. What does anything mean? We're not sure, but at least there's picnics and very expensive alcohol. Let's be thankful for the small things. We'll be taking a short break before resuming our odd schedule with our next read.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 54: Unfortunately the Tacos are Really Good

Hey book girlies and gamer guys! We're sorry we left you hanging for a few weeks with nothing to show for it. Our bad. But we couldn't just leave The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins unfinished. We're hoping to be back to at least a semi-regular release schedule soon.Anyway, in today's episode, we have explosions, we have mayhem, we have the Sun disappearing, we have devastation, and of course we have tacos and guac to make everything better. Additionally, we are getting so unbelievably close to the bottom of this scheme, and we cannot wait to find out more!TRIGGER WARNING: This episode will discuss some heavy topics like sexual assault, torture, and murder. We tried to avoid some of the heavier parts of those scenes, but just know those topics are in there. Episode 53: Apocalypse? Bring It On!

We're starting to get the feeling that absolutely nobody is going to survive this book. Not Steve, not Erwin, not even David or Father. Maybe not even Carolyn. The doom and gloom seems inescapable. The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins seems to be getting weirder and weirder and we're no closer to knowing any of the answers, but we're having a good time while we're here and we can't wait to learn more (even though learning more often feels like taking several steps backward rather than forward).Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 52: Throwing Wrenches

This wild ride only gets wilder as Carolyn's plans FINALLY start coming together in The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. Do we know what's going on yet? No, not really. But we think we might know soon. Maybe. Hopefully. Or maybe not, who knows? Not us! Book Club Vol. 1: Devils Kill Devils

We are so excited to try out our very first Book Club episode with special guest Sam! In this episode, instead of Sara telling Ian about the book she is currently reading, she and a friend will be discussing a book they read together! In today's Book Club, we read Devils Kill Devils by Johnny Compton. Please know that there will absolutely be spoilers in here, so if you were planning to read this book anytime soon, avert your ears! One of the most wild things is that Sara and Sam have vastly different opinions on the book, which we were not expecting at all. This book has such controversial ratings, and we're still confused about it. So where do you fall? Did you love it? Hate it? Feel "meh" about it? Episode 51: Some Sort of Crime

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We are so excited to be back and continuing with The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. This is a rollercoaster of a book, and just when we think we're starting to unravel the mystery, connect the puzzle pieces, and work things out, a new wrench is thrown into the system. But no matter! Episode 50: Cringe and Sass, AKA Crass

Somehow, we feel like Erwin from The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins would fit right in with us and our Pod that's full of sass and sarcasm. Does he say some incredibly offensive things? Absolutely. But is he sassy about it? 1,000,000,000% yes! And we love that for him. We're also sort of getting to the point where we maybe might know a little bit about what's going on. Usually we'd apologize for only going through one chapter, but in our defense this chapter was looooonnnnnnnnnnnngggg and also it's Erwin, so deal with it. We adored this chapter and had a hard time cutting anything out.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 49: Scheming Schemer Who Scheme Schemes

As we continue to delve into the confusing world of The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, there is one thing that we know for sure: Carolyn is a schemer, and we don't really trust her. Why is she always looking at what other librarians are doing? Why is she pretending so hard that her fingers tremble? Why can't Michael die yet? More and more questions are unfolding, but we have no answers. Perhaps this is all part of Carolyn's scheme?Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 48: Innocent Hearts Contemplate Murder

Let us be perfectly clear here: we still have no idea what is happening in The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, but we're ever so curious and it's far too late to turn back now. This week, we talk about dead ones, bullets, bulls, and of course we get introduced to Steve. We're learning not to get too attached to any of the characters, and we definitely don't trust them. We can't wait for all of these mysterious pieces to start piecing themselves together. Maybe next week (probably not).Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 47: Garlicky Eggy Aura and Maggoty Makeout Sessions

Hey nerds! It's good to be back for a brand new season of the pod! This season, we are reading The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, and it's a doozy! Do we know what's happening? Nope. Do we have an idea of where it's going? Absolutely not. Are we morbidly curious? Always. Will we keep reading? 100% yes! Episode 46: Anticlimactic Much?

Well, we finally finished One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, and we're left feeling just a little confused about how we feel. We didn't think it was possible to be so disgruntled about so many things in a book, and yet still wanting to read more. It's a new and strange thing we're trying to process, but we think a little break is appropriate to get some perspective and to go into the second book with a healthier mindset. For now, most of our questions are answered and the ones that are still a mystery are not dire. We'll be back in a few weeks for The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 45: Get Mind-Clawed

As we enter Part III of One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, we are finding ourselves with arguably more questions than when we started this book (which is saying a lot because we have had SOOOOOOOO many questions this whole time). The frustration is mounting, and we're discovering that we have little patience for unintelligent main characters, especially the ones who are as high and mighty as Elspeth. But we're this close to the end, so we might as well right this frustrating wave through to the end. But we might need a break from Elspeth and Blunder when this book is done...Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 44: Smug as a Bug in a Rug

Luckily we have a very brief moment of levity before things get heavy again in One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. How do we still have questions at this point? Well, we do, and we can't wait to start getting some answers! All we know is that Elm is our favorite sass master, and even the Nightmare could take some notes.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. 18. 47

Episode 43: All Claws and No Consequences

Our main takeaway from this set of chapters from One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig is that we loved the horrors of these scenes and wish we had seen them sooner! The violence, the danger, the jagged edges, and the fragility of it all is teetering off balance, and we are ready for an even bigger explosion to happen. But if we've learned anything, it's that Elm is right for not trusting Elspeth, and of course nobody listens to him.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. 19. 46

BONUS: Looking into the Trees of One Dark Window

What an exciting way to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the pod! We finally looked up information about the trees that the families of Blunder in One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig are named after, and we think we have found a lot of insight into who the characters are and why they behave in certain ways. This was really neat to do, and we were so glad for the opportunity! Maybe there will be another bonus episode in the future that looks into the trees, flowers, and plants we missed in this one. Like the pines... and laburnum... and the ivies and thistle... We'll get right on that! But in the meantime, enjoy this session of two science nerds spitting facts about trees and relating that to the characters in the book. Also, we have a new drinking game that's not limited to this season of the pod: Any time Sara says the word "interesting" or any of its synonyms, TAKE A DRINK (of whatever beverage you choose), because she says it a lot, and now that we've heard it, we can't unhear it, so you might as well play along.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 42: Love Blossoming in the Ruins

YET AGAIN Ian's predictions come true, and Ravyn and Elspeth get it ON in the ruins at Castle Yew. As we continue further into One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, we are getting more nervous about the "what ifs" to come, and we're not even sure we understand everything that's happning now. What we do know is that we're here for the ride!Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. 21. 44

Episode 41: No Highwayman Guise is Complete without Acrylics

What doesn't happen in this week's episode? It starts with Elspeth falling off a horse and ends with a budding romance. In between, of course, all hell breaks loose, a prophecy begins to take shape, and another comes true. There are so many twists and turns, and we're not sure if we can trust anyone, not John Thistle, not the Nightmare, perhaps not Ravyn, not Elm, and maybe not even Elspeth. So who is left to trust? What does the mist want with children? And how does one truly become infected? And why is Ian giving constructive criticism on how to be a better highwayman? One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig has bamboozled us once more, keeping us coming back for the crumbs of insight. We have way more questions than we started with, and very few answers are presenting themselves. We can only keep reading in the hopes of learning the truth.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassCheck out our Story Graph @aposasDonate to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmSend us an email at [email protected] our website at aposas.comListen to new episodes (most) Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 40: Good Soup (You Should Know)

As we continue with One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, we find ourselves with more questions than answers. Elspeth somehow hasn't starved to death, but girly pop is getting on our last nerve with her shennanigans. We unravel more of the mysteries about the Shepherd King while also learning a bit more about the Yews. Predictions upon predictions come truer than true in this episode, and while we're excited to be proven right, it somehow unsettles us even more. All we know is that a heist is in the making, lies will be revealed, secrets will be uncovered, and some horrible, horrible deeds will be discovered. We can't wait to read more! Episode 39: Can You Hear the Thunder?

Things are starting to get good in One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, and the weather outside our window whole-heartedly agreed and provided the appropriate ambiance. Political intrigue, espionage, fake relationships, true heartbreak, characters we love, characters we hate, and characters we love to hate! If you thought our discussions weren't lively enough, settle in for a treat as we determine whether or not Nerium is a boring character, whether or not it's interesting to have hypocrisy, and whether or not we like yelling about books? While we both have some qualms, we're still very excited to see where this goes. On whose side is Elspeth? The Nightmare? BONUS: Re-Reading One Dark Window Chapters 1-10

This book is a lot more complex than we had originally thought, and we thought it was worth a re-read of everything we've talked about so far to make sure we weren't missing anything (especially since Sara got distracted by other books recently, she needed this refresher). Episode 33: Unfathomable! And It Was All Grrribeetle's Idea

If there's a limit to how much fun we, as your hosts, can have on this podcast, we definitely surpassed it several chapters ago. We did not think it was possible to laugh so hard, but was this a much needed reprieve from the drudgery of daily life. Whoo! Plans are made, alliances are formed, and garlic will always be sold! Patrons enjoy this special and exclusive extended edition of this episode with TWO bonus passages included.Join us next week for our Season 3 Finale!!! Episode 32: Now You See Me, Now You Don't

Things escalate quicker than we were expecting, and we're left feeling... a little off. Will Gav finally make the push into hero territory and be an actually good guy? Will Valevna continue to be wiley? Will Eliasha remove that stick from her ass? Will Xaxus still be an overgrown old-man-child? Will Zarconar continue to be a scary force of nature? Will the goblins continue to goblin like no goblin has ever goblinned before? So many questions, and we're not sure if we have any answers.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website ~coming soon!~Listen to new episodes on Saturdays wherever you find podcasts! Episode 31: Two's Company, Three's a Crowd, and Four Dark Wizards Makes a Bad Party

More shenanigans, more heroes, more dilemmas, and more dark wizards are making their mark on this story, and we're here for it. We're on the edge of our seats in anticipation for what's coming next. We think we know how this story might end, but we're not sure how we're going to get there, and that's the fun of it!Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website ~coming soon!~Listen to new episodes Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 30: Garlic Truly Is the Most Powerful Thing on Earth

Hey book girlies and gamer guys! We apologize for our short, unannounced hiatus. Springtime has been unexpectedly busy, what with preparations for the garlic festival and whatnot. We were so proud of being back on our game three weeks ago. Oops! We're really sorry, and we'll try to not let it happen again, but we're not making any promises because we are who we are.ANYWAY, we're back with another few chapters of Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis, and it is getting funnier by the minute! We are on the edges of our seats for what's coming next for our favorite villains and the garlic festival! What exactly is Zarconar's plan? Who is Gav deep down? What does it mean to be evil, or good, or in between? And what kind of power does garlic have? So many questions are explored in this week's episode, so check it out!Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website (coming soon!)Listen to new episodes Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 29: As They Say in Showbiz: The Garlic Festival Must Go On!

As we continue to go through this hilarious comedy, Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis, we are getting more surprises, more laughs, and (if you can believe it) more tears. But as long as the garlic festival is still garlic festivalling, then we'll probably be okay.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website (coming soon!)Listen to new episodes on Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts! Episode 28: Secrets, Secrets

We are continuing this hilarious journey of Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis. More secrets are made and uncovered, and we honestly do not know what will happen next! And it seems that neither does Gav. It's pretty hard to play charades when you yourself don't even know what's a lie and what's the truth. Pretty soon things are going to start unraveling, and we're here for it! As long as nothing bad happens to the goblins.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website ~coming soon!~Listen to new episodes on Saturdays, wherever you find podcasts. Episode 27: Squids and Snail Slime

Get ready for the giggles, because Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis is so funny, and honestly it's giving us life. Gav is no closer to figuring out who he is, or what this nefarious plan is, but he is learning that being a good person is harder than it looks, and he may have been a little bit overconfident in his abilities to be good. But hey, he tried, and he wasn't totally unsuccessful.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out our website ~coming soon~Listen to new episodes on Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. 39. 26

    Episode 26: Demons and Damsels

Did someone say DAEMON?! We are convinced that Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis is just the prequel for Here There Are Monsters by Amelinda Berube. Gav is definitely the forest demon. He knows all about mouse skull magic and negotiating a blood bargain. Dreadful is tickling out funny bones and making us do a few spittakes. It's also proving to be fairly thought-provoking without being too serious or dark or heavy, and man do we appreciate it! And here we were worried that we weren't going to like a light and fluffy book. HA!We are absolutely loving this book! So go check out our newest episode wherever you find podcasts! Episode 25: Mouse Skull Magic

We think we're in for a treat with this season's read: Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis. The story follows Gav, a Dark Wizard who's forgotten who he is and what the heck he's doing. All he does know is that no one else can know that he doesn't know anything! Just smile and nod, Gav! Episode 24: The Old Lady and the Man She Should Have Killed

We're not entirely sure if we finished this book, or if this book finished us, but we are certain we know who the old lady is and who she should have killed. Join us for the last episode of season 2 when we wrap up The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. We've laughed, we've cried, we've cried some more, and mostly we've just cried throughout this entire journey. We're glad to be done with this book, but we're even more appreciative having read it. It is all too relevant. And be on the lookout April 5, 2025 for SEASON 3 of A Pod of Sass and Sarcasm!Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out new episodes on Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 23: Dead, Dying, and Deadly

We are getting ever-so-close to the end of this book, and we still have far too many questions for our comfort. And with all the drama, what will happen next? Where will things go from here? Who is that mysterious old lady? We're just glad there were no tears this time.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out new episodes every Saturday. Episode 22: Too Many Goodbyes

Somehow we are still continuing The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, even after the heartbreaking realities from last week. But of course, we have more goodbyes, more heartaches, more discomfort, and not a lot of solace, not a lot of answers, and not a lot of hope, even knowing the outcome of the war. But the heaviness subsides a bit this week, and maybe, just maybe, we will get through this without too many more tears.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out new episodes on Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 21: When Fiction Becomes Far Too Factual

WARNING: This episode contains extremely heavy and difficult themes, including the death of a child. Please be advised.Because of this episode, we are at a crossroads as to whether or not we want to finish this book. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is turning out to be a much heavier emotional roller coaster than we were expecting, and we don't remember signing up for this ride. Suddenly the facts are starting to outweigh the fiction, and it's a hard pill to swallow. But it's necessary to discuss in order for us to heal. Please just take some time for yourselves and hold your loved ones close.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmCheck out new episodes every Saturday. Episode 20: The Hills Are Alive with the Sound of Rebellion

As we continue The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, we are getting further into the war and further into the different kinds of rebellion of the war. There's the boisterous rebellion that Isabelle has always expressed, the quiet rebellion of her father, Julien, and the survivalistic rebellion of Vianne, who on the surface is just trying to make it through another day, another month, another year, just waiting for her husband to return and for her life to go back to normal. But is her act of simply surviving a form of rebellion? If so, how much sway will that have on the war at large?Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmListen to new episodes on Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 19: The Closet Pisser

The espionage was fun while it lasted, but unfortunately for Ian, this book is not actually about espionage. It's about suffering, and doing so secretly with no praise. But we learned that Sara is still illiterate, that Isabelle is still an idiot, and that Ian is usually right, unless he's wrong, in which case, he's a sourpuss.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassandsarcasmListen to new episodes Wednesdays and Saturdays wherever you find podcasts. Episode 18: If I Can't Win, No One Can!

Hey book girlies and gamer guys! Thank you so much for your patience with us through our impromptu sabbatical. We're glad to be back and jumping right back in where we left off. This episode, continue reading The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and we focus on the separate stories of the sisters Vianne and Isabelle. Vianne is getting uncomfortably close to Captain Beck, and he is getting creepier by the second. Isabelle is defiant as ever, but can she hold her tongue to save not only her own skin, but her new colleagues' as well? The question still remains: in a world at war, can you trust anyone? Episode 17: It's Pronounced "On-Ree," Not "Henry," So Take A Drink!

Hey book girlies and gamer guys. Your favorite nerds are back after a short mental health break, and we're diving right back into The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Of course, we've discovered a new drinking game for you while editing this week's episode: take a drink any time Sara Americanizes a French or German word. Bonus points if it's someone's name. EXTRA bonus points if it's Henri pronounced as "Henry." (Seriously, we edited out several takes of the incorrect pronunciation where we could, but there were some lines where it was said incorrectly, and neither of us caught it, so we just bulldozed through, and, well, take a drink of hydrating water about it) While this episode isn't exactly light and fluffy, we can at least breathe a tiny bit easier through this one. Episode 16: You May Be A Creep If You Write Lists

This was never light and fluffy, but The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah continues to get darker and heavier. Hindsight makes this even scarier, and we don't know who we can trust or what people even know. All we know is that Beck and Vianne need to chill out with their little dalliance flirtation, Isabelle needs to watch her back if she wants to make any sort of progress with the rebellion, and we all need to be a little bit more like Rachel, sassy, supportive, and forgiving of mistakes, even those that deeply wound us. And if you think you need to start making a list for anything, you don't. Episode 15: Reckless Abandon

As we continue to get into The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, we of course have to take deep, steadying breaths because this book is already hitting us hard. Difficult situations, unavoidable circumstances, impossible choices, and the fear of the consequences influence our protagonists in their choices. Is rebelling an act of justice or simply reckless abandon? And again, we find ourselves asking who are the monsters in this story? What makes a person a monster? If there's anything we've learned, it's this: as readers of historical fiction, we know roughly what is in store for our characters, but we have no way of saving them.Find us on Facebook at A Pod of Sass and SarcasmFollow us on Instagram @a_pod_of_sassSend us an email at [email protected] to our Patreon at patreon.com/apodofsassListen on Wednesdays and Saturdays wherever you find podcasts.
