    Amy-0304 多樣的「說」法與天氣表達

    這幾個單字在中文常都翻成「說」,但使用時機大不同:Speak (語言能力):用於語言或講話行為。"How many languages do you speak?" (你會說幾種語言?)Talk (主題談話):有特定主題或對象的討論。"I will talk about this plan with my husband." (我會跟我先生討論這個計畫。)"I'm talking to my friend." (我在跟朋友聊天/討論。)Say (內容陳述):側重說出的內容、書本或報導的陳述。"What does the book say?" (這本書寫了什麼?)"The news says..." / "The forecast says..." (新聞/預報說...)Chat (隨興聊天):輕鬆、無特定目的的閒聊。"I am drinking and chatting with my friends." (我在跟朋友喝酒聊天。)Tell (告訴/分辨):有對象的陳述,或指「分辨」差異。"Could you tell me the story?" (你能跟我講那個故事嗎?)"Can you tell the difference between them?" (你能看出它們之間的差別嗎?)"Time will tell." (時間會證明/說明一切。)如何詢問並具體描述當地的氣候狀況:詢問天氣:"How's the weather in your place?""What's the weather like in your place?" (記得加 like)描述氣候狀態:"It's sunny and very hot." (天晴且炎熱)"It's not raining but cloudy today." (沒下雨但陰天)"It's not cold here but windy." (不冷但風大)詢問與描述溫度:"What's the temperature there?" (那邊幾度?)"It's about 20 degrees during the day, but 5 degrees at night." (白天約20度,晚上5度。)"Minus 10 degrees." (負10度。)描述天氣或年紀的轉變時,動詞的選擇會影響語感:Become (強調結果):"It becomes warmer."     在國外餐廳用餐時,了解店家的消費規則非常重要:詢問小孩是否有低消:"Is there a minimum charge for kids?"詢問每桌的低消:"Do you have a minimum charge per table?"常見的低消回覆:"Yes, we have a minimum charge of a drink." (是的,低消是一杯飲料。)"There is no minimum charge for kids under three years old." (三歲以下孩童免低消。)"There is no minimum charge for the bar seats." (吧檯座位不設低消。)當你用餐完畢或不小心發生意外時,可以這樣跟服務生溝通:完食收盤:"I'm finished. Could you clear my table, please?" (我用完餐了,請幫我清理桌面。)"Could you take the plates away?" (可以把盤子收走嗎?)不小心打翻 (Spill):"Sorry, I spilled my drink. Could you clean up my table and the floor, please?" (抱歉我打翻飲料了,可以幫我清理桌面和地面嗎?)這兩個字發音相近,但在餐廳裡意思大不同:Spill /ɪ/ (短音):打翻。Spell /ɛ/ (捲舌音):拼字。"How do I spell the word?" (這個字怎麼拼?)"How do I spell your name?" (你的名字怎麼拼?)對於準備出國的人來說,分清楚國家與語言的稱呼是基本禮貌:Germany (國家名):德國。"My son is going to Germany for internship." (我兒子要去德國實習。)German (語言/形容詞):德文、德國的。"My son is learning German." (我兒子在學德文。)"How do you say 'Thank you' in German?" (德文的「謝謝」怎麼說?)不知道點什麼時,問這兩句就對了:"Which is the most popular?" (哪一個最受歡迎?)"What's the best seller?" (哪一個是店內暢銷冠軍?)想加點時:"Can I get the menu again? I'd like to order some more." (可以再給我一次菜單嗎?我想再加點。)

(較為口語的用法)反應沒熱水的問題:"I'm sorry, there is no hot water in my bathroom.""I didn't get any hot water. Can you come and check it for me?"索取飲用水與確認費用:"Can I get two extra bottled waters, please?""Is it complimentary?" (確認是否為免費供應)這兩個字都翻譯成「預約」,但使用的情境完全不同:Reservation (預約空間、位置):用於餐廳、訂房。"Can you make a reservation for me for two at 7 tonight?"Appointment (預約時間、人):用於看醫生、用頭髮、做 Spa。"Can you make an appointment for me?""I have an appointment with Dr. Lin.""We have an opening at 7 tonight." (我們今晚七點有一個空檔。)在點餐或選購服務時,注意這些容易混淆的詞彙:Topping (配料):指放在食物「上面」的料,如披薩配料。"What kind of toppings would you like?"Seasoning (調味料):指鹽、胡椒等調味用品。Add-on (加購項目):指額外加點的項目,常用於網頁訂購或餐飲加購。"Breakfast is not included, it's an add-on."
