    Anthem in G major

Track #01 of the 2021 album "Retrospect 1996-2001" by Andreas Viklund. Originally made in the mid 00's but never really getting released, it is now out in its original form. "Anthem" brings a happy and uplisting melody in a classic melodic trance track.

    Tribute

Track #08 of the 2021 album "Retrospect 1996-2001" by Andreas Viklund. This song was made years ago when I tried a number of different kinds of music production software (DAW:s). It started out as a simple piano melody and grew to become my personal tribute to the late Robert Miles, whose music has meant a lot to me ever since I heard "Children" and "Fable" in the late 1990s. While experimenting with different effects, I accidentally recorded a control track for a reverb on one of the backing synth tracks, resulting in a really weird sound. While it wasn't intentional, I decided to keep the wild reverb. Then a couple of years passed with the song stuck in my "unfinished" folder, until I released it on the "Retrospect" album in the summer of 2021 - still with that strange, dream-like reverb remaining.

    Andact (original edit)

Track #7 on the album "Retrospective (1996-2021)", an instrumental melodic trance song originally premiered at the Facefront festival in Piteå, Sweden, back in 2005.

  4. 1

    Excellent (original edit)

The full-length original version of the 2002 synth/sampler/vocoder track "Excellent", a spontaneous co-production between Andreas Viklund and Petter Senften. This song has only been performed live once (in Kiruna, Sweden, in March 2003). A shorter radio edit of the song can be found all over the internet, but this version has (as far as I can remember) never been officially released. For all music tech nerds out there: This is a drumloop from the Roland XP-30 played live in normal tempo and half tempo simultaneously, combined with a filtered supersaw arpeggio played live on the Roland JP8000. The intro pad (also JP8000)and additional drums were pieced together afterwords, to match the live recording. And finally, we ran some random vocal samples through a vocoder to get the chord-based melody of the song. Unacceptable behaviour? No... Excellent!
