Elegant Weapons From Judas Priest Richie Faulkner Breaks It Down

We evolve over the course of a lifetime. Depending on how much work we actively put in, the process may slow down or speedup, but it never stops.Since emerging in 2023, Elegant Weapons have rapidly progressed in real-time. This quartet of lifelong musicians—guitaristRichie Faulkner [Judas Priest], vocalist Ronnie Romero [Rainbow, MSG], bassist Dave Rimmer [Uriah Heep], and drummerChristopher Williams [Accept]—have rallied around a collective vision. Of course, their peerless musical pedigree providesendless fodder for creativity, but the band’s commitment to collaboration is really what detonates their sonic arsenal. They’vearchitected a signature style sealed tightly by unforgettable riffing, surgically precise solos, bold grooves, and skyscrapinghooks.Exhibiting both a craftsman’s attention-to-detail and an innate knack for arena-ready anthems, they push forward again ontheir second full-length offering, the aptly titled Evolution.“Finding a voice of your own as a technical player and as a songwriter is a never-ending journey,” Richie observes. “You’realways trying to strike the elusive balance between thrilling listeners and communicating with them. All of us are in othergroups. We sound different on our own. When the four of us come together though, we sound like Elegant Weapons. Wewanted to be recognized as a band who is growing and evolving as one.”The world got its first taste of Elegant Weapons with the release of Horns For A Halo in 2023. The record immediately reactedwith fans and tastemakers alike. Among many standouts, “Do Or Die” reeled in over 2.8 million Spotify streams, whileBlabbermouth assured, “as a recipe for an excellent, heavy metal time, Elegant Weapons have everything sorted,” and ClassicRock hailed the LP as “a killer debut album that zings with vitality.” Meanwhile, the group lit up the stages of Hellfest, GraspopMetal Meeting, Resurrection Fest, and beyond in addition to supporting Pantera.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

Come Knock Down My Door From Alex Emanuel And Philip Cruise

As the Trump administration scrubs Jan 6 records, issues mass pardons to over 1,200 rioters, and faces lawsuits from those same insurrectionists accusing police of excessive force, an Off-Off-Broadway comedy confronts the insurrection’s chaotic aftermath with sharp laughs. No one else has satirized Jan 6 in a stoner rock-n-roll situation-comedy play. Come and Knock Down My Door, written by film and theater artist and satirist Alex Emanuel (son of famous political illustrator Robert Grossman) and directed by actor/director Philip Cruise, premieres May 7-30 at NYC’s The Gene Frankel Theatre (16 performances, $35). Set on Jan 7, 2021, it follows a pot-dealing Trump supporter returning to his liberal NYC roommates amid FBI fears - hilarity through the heartache of a divided America. Director Cruise notes: “If I can make the audience laugh while calling attention to the piece of history that so many are trying to rewrite and erase, I’m doing my job as a theatre producer and as an American.” Playwright Emanuel adds: “Now is surely the time for it. We need to laugh, and we need to be reminded of how we got here. Like political caricature lampoons figures, a situation like Jan 6 and its aftermath exists to be ridiculed. Our late-night comedians are losing their jobs now and we cannot only depend on them.” Audience feedback from readings has been glowing: “Brought a light touch to a heavy subject with no loss of impact or weight,” “A very funny, prescient and somewhat terrifying play,” and “Come and Knock Down My Door could be an underground sensation!” Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

Yet to Nikki's surprise, Deb already had a roommate: her cokehead boyfriend. Within a flash, Nikki's college dreams and savings went up in smoke. By 22, she was a full-blown meth addict. Fleetwood Mac's Ten Men On Guitar From Music Historian Scott G Shea

The rock group Fleetwood Mac is one of the most well-known and beloved in music history, but it certainly wasn’t that way when they started in 1967. Before finding international success with the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in 1975, they had numerous personnel changes at the guitarist position. In fact, before Lindsey, they changed guitarists five times in seven years, as they ran the gamut from hardcore British blues to contemporary rock to breezy L.A. soft pop. In his latest article for the Strange Brew, Scott G. Shea tells the story of this magnificent band’s development through its guitarists. He describes how they arrived at the band, what they contributed, and why they eventually broke down. If you’re interested in discussing the story of Fleetwood Mac, I hope you’ll consider inviting Scott G. Shea, a leading music historian and the author of the best-selling book “All the Leaves Are Brown: How the Mamas & the Papas Came Together and Broke Apart,” to your program. Scott can discuss what went wrong with the five guitarists who preceded Lindsey Buckingham and why Buckingham was able to make it work, at least for a little while.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

The Characters Of The Greatest Story Of All Time Daniel Grace's In The Wake Of Golgatha

There is no crime to fit this sentence; there is no sentence to fit this crime. Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate's words are echoed by the zealot Judas Iscariot only hours before history takes a bloody turn on a cross atop Golgotha on Calvary Hill. Two thousand years later, these words are found scrawled in blood in New York next to three crucified men hanging on a basement wall. Judas, now Jude Issachar, an enigmatic social worker and part-time professor, and Pontius, now Peter Pheiffer, an unsettled defense attorney at a ravenous global law firm, have lived many lifetimes since their original encounter. However, Jude is aware of his past and is cursed by the fateful lure of the noose and the tree. Peter is damned by a recurring ignorance, a cruel cyclical awakening that creeps up on him as he is compelled to defend a sociopath who crucified three men. ondemned for their role in humankind's darkest betrayal, they must reckon with their pasts-and their futures-after a fateful, bloody collision of violence and addiction two millennia after their sentence began brings these lost souls together once more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

Up All Night With Rhonda Shear Is Now On ROKU The Continuation

Rhonda Shear in Her Own Words: 'Up All Night' Is Back and She Just Launched Her Own Roku ChannelThe 'Up All Night' host on reboots, reinvention, and why the best is absolutely yet to come.Rhonda Shear has always blazed her own trail. When she auditioned for the hosting role that would make her a late-night icon, she walked in with a curling iron and plugged it in mid-audition. Then she started doing her hair in front of the casting directors. She'd been told too many times that she was too pretty to be funny, so she chose to be outrageous.Shear got the job, of course. For eight years, she hosted Up All Night on USA Network. A generation of horror fans and committed night owls never forgot her. I called her on a recent Monday morning to talk about the show's reboot, her intimate apparel empire, and why, at this stage of her life and career, she has never been more herself.Up All Night originally aired on USA Network from 1989 to 1998. Shear hosted the show for all eight seasons, introducing audiences to horror, B-movies, and the kind of sharp, self-aware comedy that, she'll tell you, the industry wasn't entirely ready for at the time."Back then, women in comedy just were not accepted," she explains. "You were very typecast."Shear defied the stereotypes and was unapologetically funny. She went on to film over 430 episodes, working with several different producers over the show's run. She remembers, "I got to work with some iconic people that all went on to do major amazing things, each one had their own style.""When I go back through this footage, I'm wowed by the things that we were doing. We were so ahead of our time on the show. For example, we were putting commercials within the show. That's the kind of stuff that you see on social media now."USA Network apparently destroyed all the original footage of the show. But Shear, as she has proven repeatedly in her career, is not someone who allows herself to be defeated. "I always save my work," she tells me. "I have tons of all my content. If I could get it or tape it or get it from a producer, I always got stuff." In her contract, she had negotiated two VHS copies of every episode, so there would be one for herself and one for her mother in New Orleans. "So I have all the footage of the show. All of the sketches."Sassier, and Somehow Even Funnier" Fans have been asking for a reboot of Up All Night for decades. Shear never stopped loving the show, either. Even with her own brand she had on the Home Shopping Network, she paid homage to the show that made her famous. She used humor to talk about the intimate apparel products she designed and sold. The catalyst came when Shear started attending fan conventions. "I went to one, and the lines were amazing. I was, like, shocked myself, and fans told us we need to reboot Up All Night."She and her husband had already created a fully equipped media studio called Shear Media Studios. It's used for podcasting, influencer shoots, live shopping on TV, film, commercials, and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

RFK Jr The Fall And Rise From Award Winning Journalist Isabel Vincent

Born into one of the most storied families in American history, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was fourteenyears old when his father was assassinated. He has since spent his life grappling with the weight of his family's legacy. Like his martyred father, RFK Jr. longs to be a hero, but he has struggled with his demons. "I knew daddy was watching me, and that he loved me," he wrote in a diary entry, "But I also felt I was disappointing him."Those thoughts were set down in his diary when he was serving out a monthlong prison term in Puerto Rico for civil disobedience. The experience changed his life. Alone in his cell, he was forced to grapple with his personal conflicts-his addictions to drugs and women-but also to question everything that he and his family once held sacred, including their allegiance to the Democratic Party, which had sustained the Kennedy family for generations.RFK Jr. became disillusioned with many of the party's leaders even as he committed himself to carving out a distinct identity as a public servant. He would vow to step up his environmental crusade, later establishing himself as a public health critic with controversial views on vaccines. He became a political maverick. But even now, in his seventies, and after an unexpected pivot into the national spotlight as a political and cultural figure at odds with both the Democratic Party and his family, RFK Jr. is still fighting to live up to the legacy of his father. This timely release marks the one-year anniversary of RFK Jr.'s appointment as Secretary for Health and Human Services, reflecting on his impactful first year in office. It uncovers the personal struggles, family pressures, and political milestones that have shaped his extraordinary and often contradictory life.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

Art Doesn't Just Happen We Cant Stop Defending Expression Actor Michael Chiklis

"When we stop defending expression, we start accepting silence," says Tim Daly, President of The Creative Coalition. "That silence begins when we fail to protect both the First Amendment and the institutions that make creativity possible, including vital federal support for the National Endowment for the Arts. Defending the NEA means defending the artists, storytellers, and cultural voices that help define who we are as a nation."Adds Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition, "For nearly four decades, The Creative Coalition has operated at the intersection of art and free speech because the two are inseparable. The First Amendment exists to express inconvenient and necessary truths. When we begin to question the value of that freedom, we are weakening the foundation of our democracy. One On One Author To Author With Billy Ray Creator Of The Hunger Games And Now Burn The Water

Billy Ray is best-known for his work  as the Oscar-nominated and critically acclaimed screenwriter behind Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games, and the highly anticipated adaptation of Sunrise on the Reaping. In this first installment of an epic dystopian duology, Ray delivers a searing reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, set in a drowned London ravaged by climate change and centuries of war. BURN THE WATER marks his first transition to novel-writing. The year is 2425, and London is unrecognizable—a sea of decaying skyscrapers, submerged streets, and shattered remnants of a once-great city. Two armies—the Rogues and the Crowns—have waged war for generations, locked in a brutal battle over a world long lost to the sea. Rafe, the ruthless and magnetic leader of the Rogue army, and Jule, the fiercest warrior the Crown army has ever known, are sworn enemies by birth. Both destined to lead their factions to victory after centuries of bloodshed—until they fall for each other. Their love is forbidden, dangerous, and utterly consuming. As Rafe and Jule risk everything to protect one another amid the violence, a new and even greater threat emerges from the water, one that could destroy both armies, and what’s left of their world. To survive, they must challenge everything they’ve been taught and convince their people that love is stronger than hate in a world where peace has always been impossible. Gritty, emotional, and sweeping, BURN THE WATER is a haunting exploration of generational conflict, sacrifice, and the belief that love is bigger than all of us.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.

The Winner Of NBC's The Voice Season 29 Alexia Jayy

The very first The Voice: Battle of Champions winner has been crowned with Coach Adam Levine and his Artist Alexia Jayy wowing the audience of The Voice .A standout going back to the Blind Auditions when she earned the first Triple Chair Turn of the season and brought her son Matthew on stage to celebrate, Jayy proceeded to just get more and more confident each week until she landed her critical trio of Finale song performances. On the red carpet at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Hollywood on April 14, Jayy and Levine reunited to celebrate their win publicly for the first time. She shared with NBC Insider that while the Finale was pre-recorded, she kept her victory a secret, even from her son!"You know what? He was actually watching tonight, so he just found out," Jayy shared, laughing. "I go home for the weekend and we're going to throw a big party."With this win, Levine is now tied with fellow Battle of Champions Coach Kelly Clarkson. "It's fun to win," Levine told NBC Insider with a smile. "I think that I needed to take the break I took and when I came back it was really fun and easy. It's been fun. I don't know whatever it is but I hope it keeps on working for me."While Levine was able to keep Jayy on his team all season long, the Maroon 5 frontman admitted to NBC Insider aside from that, he can't take much credit for her win."I don't say that just to be humble," Levine said. "She was so calm. I didn't need to tell her much. I mean, there were little moments where she would be nervous and she's like, 'How do I get out of my head?' And I'm like, 'Just keep doing what you're doing. Don't worry about winning because that's not something you should concern yourself with. You should just do your best and see where it takes you.' But most of the time, she was always game-ready and so I was really just her biggest cheerleader."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-view-from-the-writing-instrument--1023245/support.
