Miguel and Madi talk early career days, hometown inspirations, and the rapidly changing culture of Riverside. Miguel Esparza is a portrait and documentary photographer currently residing in Riverside, California. His ability to craft light and color enables him to showcase the world as he sees it. Esparza’s work explores the importance and beauty of human interaction. Today, we are joined by artist, author, and teacher Timothy Musso.Timothy Musso grew up in the wild foothills of the Motherlode, just 20 miles from where gold was first discovered in California in 1848. After a childhood spent exploring the forests, rivers, and mountains of the Northern Sierra Nevada, Musso relocated to Southern California, an area which he now calls home. Observational drawing is at the center of Musso’s creative practice. In the deserts of the Southwest and elsewhere, he has hiked and sketched his way through more than 4,000 miles of territory. His travel sketchbooks and photographs form the base upon which he tells stories in intricately detailed prints, drawings, and books.
