021 - Comparison, Competition and Contentment

Comparison is the thief of joy… that’s what my mother always told me!However it’s not as easy as just ‘switching off’ from comparison especially in a modern world where comparison is EVERYWHERE!Social media, marketing, even at the hair dressers - comparison everywhere to drive sales! So how do we deal with this constant barrage of noise, and ultimately not let it defeat us when we are pushing towards our goals and ambitions?Join us as we discuss moving towards being content in your journey, exploring the role of competition and getting slightly side-tracked by BN Biscuits! As always, we love to hear from you guys so please do let us know your thoughts.

    020 - Is Naivety Necessary?

Today we are discussing a topic which ruled our radios back in 2006... The Kooks smash hit: Naive.Okay, more specifically, the decline in naivety in an ever increasingly information overloaded world. (You won't find that song title on your That's What I Call 2006 CD)We're in a time where the answer to any question is at our fingertips quicker than you can spell 'em dash', and we are bombarded with 'how to' guides and 'step by step' programmes, but what is the unspoken impact of this?Surely curiosity is the start to any great innovation? And an element of naivety is the co-pilot when creating something new?Let's discuss…As always, check out be your own coach! www.beyourowncoach.com

019 - Why some people struggle to support our growth (and what you do about it!)

It’s a new year, and often a new year can be a fantastic marker and natural starting point for us to focus on our growth. Be that professional growth, personal, a goal you have, a change of habit or behaviour? Whatever you might be doing - it probably requires some form of change. We would hope that our nearest and dearest (and just general acquaintances) would be excited for our development, support our ideas, or at least give us the nod of recognitionSo why then, is it extremely common for us to be met with resistance, questioning and even mockery when we start to level up in our lives?Let’s discuss the what, the why and most importantly how you can focus your attention on your desired outcome!

    018 - Your 2025 - Reflect and Review!

017 - Getting Clear On Your Goals & Intentions For 2026

‘tis the season to set goals but then forget about them, falalalala, lalalala…Let’s cut to the chase, setting goals isn’t anything new, yet every single year, so many of us embark on new goals which end up in the goal-graveyard by mid February. Before we start to look at the methods and models, let’s take some time to work out what goals even are in relationship to our identity, and how we can ensure we are setting goals in alignment with that person, not just setting random aims that we sack off a few weeks in!Grab your pen and paper as this one is going to dig deep, and be prepared to really uncover the 2026 version of you and the actions you are willing to take to get there! As always…let us know if you have your own specific method for goal setting? What has worked for you? What are some of the challenges you face? And if you would like to share your goal (public accountability and all) drop us a message!

New year, new EVERYTHING!As we start to look towards the new year, many of us will wait until the 1st of January to take action and to set some goals! All well and good, but for a lot of us, we will also find that we are at the mercy of others' new goals or ‘changes’ also.Maybe your boss has a new idea? Maybe the hobby you attend weekly are changing the schedule? Maybe the kids after school timetable is being updated? January can bring a lot of change, and with that can come some overwhelm which often makes te pursuit towards our goals a little more tricky! In this episode we talk about getting ahead of the new.year curve and using December to take stock of how you would like your 2026 to look!

    012 - Getting 'Stuff' Done

You are joining us this week straight off the back of a rather intense 'tech week' for the Be Your Own Coach platform development, and what better topic for discussion than the idea behind 'putting a shift in to get things done!'This week we wanted to share our rather different approaches to deep intense work and getting stuff done, and how we threw the idea of balance right out of the window and leapt feet first into daft hours, a lack of sleep and copious amounts of PG Tips.Do not worry, this is not a 'hussle culture' or 'sleep when you are dead' episode...absolutely not our vibe (Liam is the poster child for a solid 8hrs)... however we do explore the idea of choosing when and how to push that bit harder, as well as the repercussions, recovery and expectation management needed to ensure success (and sanity). If you want to hear Liam passionately reference the Taylor Swift Eras Tour and find out just how many whiteboards our family home has (you don't have to threaten us with a good time), this is the episode for you!
