Beyond the Curve MX Pod

Jason and Trey sit down on a Sunday evening to discuss racing - instead of watching the Big Game.  They discussed the last race at Indiantown, Trey had good advise, and Gunner is figuring it out.  They talked about the SX in Tampa that we all went and watched, Jason's thoughts on chasing the dream, and they touched on the first National Enduro results from Sumter, SC.  Heck, even Trey had a rant regarding FTR scheduling a race in the Daytona area the same week as the Daytona 500.  

The guys got it done, but Michelle fell a bit beyond on getting this one out.  Take a listen and be ready for the next episode this week! 

Jason and Trey joined forces on the back porch and went deep, talking until dark about the previous round from Okeechobee and what to expect from Indiantown this week. They talked about the national teams finalizing their rosters and even touched on some industry news.

Derac and Trey excitedly talked about the night's racing from San Diego.  They discussed the toughness of Jo Shimoda, the enigma that is Deegan, and how dang fast Eli and Jett are!

Derac and Trey sat down to wrap up the 2024 SMX season! They talked in awe about the excellence of Jett, the return of Eli, the growth of Hunter, and the poor race decision of Chase. They wrapped up pondering what next season will look like.

Jason made a late game decision to head up for the first hare scramble and invited Trey to tag along. So they sat down to discuss how one year can make a big difference in the flow and quality of a track. They also chatted about some potential GNCC rider and team changes...and it wouldn't be a podcast if there weren't some rumbly-grumblies.

Derac and Trey sit down in the studio for a quick recap of the slippery racing in Texas, how good riders still rise to the top, they wondered if Deegan is doing his own thing, they talked about the excitement of the upcoming final round in Vegas, and they had an in-studio crash!

Derac, Trey, and Oakley discuss the exciting first round of SMX from the ZMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC. They chat about the exceptional riding by Eli Tomac, but dive in to the outstanding performances by Haiden Deegan and Jett Lawrence. Lastly, they take a moment to discuss the hullabaloo surrounding the schedule.

Derac and Trey talk about the last round of MX held at Ironman Raceway, the outstanding rides by Chase Sexton, the superb fitness of Haiden Deegan, who is going to put in the work to compete with Deegan, and the excitement for the three rounds of SMX!

Jason had an opportunity supplied by Dave at @bullpencycles to ride a new 250f Kove. Trey followed along so we thought we would shoot the day @Orlando MX Park. Also, Dave posted two videos on his YouTube channel so go check those out as well. He had a beautiful Bultaco that he rebuilt and he'll get to do it again!

Due to remodeling on the pool deck studio, Derac and Trey moved to the driveway to chat about 827MX, the stellar racing from RedBud MX, the movers and shakers, and the upcoming moto camp at Pax Trax.

Derac and Trey sat on a really hot pool deck and talked about Ty Masterpool getting his first overall and moto win, how fast Deagan is, and how much trouble the 450 class is in since Jett won when he wasn't feeling well. They dove into a bit of the goings on of 827MX and the excitement of having a weekend off.

The track changed and there were some new winners, but the championship contenders still won. Derac and Trey sat down for a short synopsis of last weekend's MX national and then did a deep dive into the Loretta Lynn's regional held at Echeconnee MX.

Derac and Trey sit on the pool deck and do a mid-week rehash of the exciting racing caused by two huge crashes from the front runners, Deegan and Lawrence.  They talked about Sexton's amazing 40th to 1st ride, Deegan's seemingly strong grip on the 250 class, and they wrapped it up with some conversations on Dade City MX and the upcoming regional at Echeconnee MX for Caleb Groves.  Another awesome episode!

They dove into improvement in Jason's hydration and nutrition as the races, how much fun he had on the KTM 200, and the plight of others who were not as hydrated. They also chatted a bit about summer plans, soccer, and what racing is going to look like next season.

Derac and Trey convene on a very hot pool deck to discuss Round One of the ProMX series. They chat about the 1-1 perfection by Jett and Deegan, the discrepancy in penalty assessment, the good and bad rides by certain riders, and they finished up with some 827MX talk.

MJ, Jason, and Trey sit down under the pole barn to discuss GNCC going back to Powerline Park, FTR going to a new venue, and FTR acting like a bunch of school children on the playground. They had a very open discussion about an organization we all enjoy, but not as much.

Derac and Trey join forces again on the pool deck to chat about the Nashville SX event. Derac talked about his family's trip and the riders he and his family got to meet. We also discussed the excitement, carnage, and treachery that was Nashville SX.

Trey and Jason sat under the pole barn to review a few products that Jason spends his money on. They talk about the Leatt Series of helmets and a new product Jason found called WOD & DONE. We missed MJ, but talked about the recent off-road racing that has happened across the US.

Derac and Trey met late in the week on the pool deck to talk about the Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier at WW Ranch. Trey posed a question about privateers which got he and Derac into a discussion about professional racing...and they talked about the last week off before the last five rounds of SX.

Derac and Trey are back on the pool deck discussing dominating performances at the St. Louis Triple Crown. They touched on the Futures class and celebrated the KTM Junior SX winner who races at Dade City MX. A big congratulations to Bowynn on his win this weekend!

Well, Michelle fell a bit behind getting this one out, but it is still a good one. Derac and Trey took some time to discuss the damp conditions that became very raceable in the epic battle in the 450 class.

Derac and Trey had the pleasure of FaceTiming with HBI, LLC Racing's 250 West SX rider, Slade Varola. They caught up on his journey to this point, his thoughts on being professional vs. amateur, his future goals, and some of the struggles of being a young privateer. MJ, Jason, and Trey sit on the porch and discuss the Haulin' Tail FTR Harescramble, bike electronics, the overbuilding of motorcycles, a little bit more about the hare scramble, and give a short preview of the upcoming GNCC in South Carolina. A slightly abrupt conclusion due to a mosquito attack.

Trey and MJ sit down and have a great interview with GNCC XC2 racer and FTR star, Jesse Ansley. They catch up on his first round and life as a privateer.

Derac and Trey break down the cool track at Glendale, but the lack of passing. They dive into the points battle, touch on the HBI heartbreak, and get an update on Dade City!

MJ breaks down the fun racing in Indiantown and they go over some Sprint Enduro results. They also discuss upcoming schedules and chatted about Trey's experience at the Daytona 24 and Detroit SX.

After a whirlwind trip to Detroit to watch Rylan attempt his first 450 race, Derac and Trey sit down and discuss wardrobe malfunctions, bent bars, and some kid named Jett.

Derac and Trey get Rylan on a call to discuss his final preparations for his first round in 450SX.   They also discuss the exciting first Triple Crown race of the season from A2.
