BIG GIRL PANTIES & Other Business Essentials

35 years ago, there were no podcasts and very few resources or business books that could guide a young single mom like me—trying to build a business while raising a family, working full-time, going to school, surviving on four hours of sleep, and getting up to do it all over again. What I needed most was a mentor—someone to pour into me, give me hope, and show me that it was possible to do it all.Fast forward to today, and now it’s my turn to give back. This podcast is my way of being the mentor I needed. I want to speak life into women—sharing both my failures and my successes so you can learn and grow from them. Recording the first episode brought me to tears, and I honestly didn’t realize how healing this would be for me. In this space, I’m being raw and brutally honest—sharing things most people don’t know. But to truly help and mentor you, I have to be transparent. So, grab a cup of coffee, invite a friend, and join me on this journey. Together, let’s start dreaming again, and

EP 024: Embracing Worthiness: A Journey from Striving to Abiding

Embracing Worthiness in Business: From Hustle to Abiding In this episode of Big Girl Panties and Other Business Essentials, Amy dives into a deeply personal and transformational topic every entrepreneur eventually faces: worthiness. But this conversation isn’t about confidence hacks, external validation, or achieving more to feel enough. Instead, Amy reframes worthiness through a faith-driven lens, revealing why your worth is not something you earn — it’s something you live from. So many women in business are striving—building, serving, achieving, and showing up for everyone else—quietly believing that their value is tied to their productivity. But beneath the surface, this creates burnout, misalignment, and a constant feeling of never quite arriving. For faith-driven entrepreneurs, this episode offers a powerful reset. Rooted in Scripture, Amy unpacks the difference between striving and abiding, showing how our identity in Christ must come before our output. When we build from worth instead of for worth, everything changes—our leadership, our focus, our peace, and our business growth. If you’ve ever felt exhausted, overcommitted, or disconnected from your calling, this episode will help you realign with truth and step back into the lane God uniquely designed for you. Because the goal isn’t to produce more. It’s to remain. And from that place, everything flows. In This Episode You’ll Learn Why many entrepreneurs unknowingly tie their worth to productivity and performance The difference between striving for worth and abiding from identity How burnout and busyness can disconnect you from God’s voice and direction Why knowing your worth in Christ creates clarity in business and leadership How to protect your “lane” and operate in your God-given gifts The role of boundaries and saying no as acts of obedience How abiding leads to sustainable, aligned business growth 3 Key Takeaways 1. Your Worth Is Fixed — Not Earned Your value does not come from what you produce, achieve, or prove. Scripture reminds us you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Your identity is established before your output. 2. Striving Leads to Burnout — Abiding Leads to Fruit When you operate from pressure and performance, exhaustion follows. But when you remain connected to Christ (John 15), clarity, peace, and true productivity naturally flow. 3. Knowing Your Worth Protects Your Calling When you’re rooted in your identity, you stop saying yes to everything. You gain the confidence to protect your time, your gifts, and your God-given assignment. Scripture Referenced in This Episode Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 15:4–5 “Remain in me, as I also remain in you… apart from me you can do nothing.” Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Why This Episode Matters The world tells entrepreneurs to prove their worth. But Scripture tells us our worth is already secure. Striving keeps you exhausted, distracted, and disconnected. Abiding keeps you aligned, focused, and fruitful. If you’ve been building your business from a place of pressure instead of peace, this episode will invite you into a better way. A way where your identity leads—and your work follows. So here’s the question: Are you striving to prove your worth… or abiding from it?   #ChristianEntrepreneur #WomenInBusiness #EntrepreneurMindset #FaithAndBusiness #Worthiness #AbidingInChrist #LeadershipGrowth #CreativeEntrepreneur #BusinessPodcast #FaithDrivenLeadership #BigGirlPantiesPodcast

EP 023: Self-Discipline for Entrepreneurs: The Missing Key to Growth and Focus

Self-Discipline for Entrepreneurs: The Spiritual Key to Growth, Focus, and Calling In this episode of Big Girl Panties and Other Business Essentials, Amy tackles a topic every entrepreneur eventually wrestles with: self-discipline. But this conversation is not about hustle culture, perfectionism, or grinding your way to success. Instead, Amy reframes discipline through a faith-driven lens, revealing why self-discipline is not punishment — it’s protection. So many women pray for greater influence, growth, provision, and impact. Yet the bridge between where we are and where we want to be often comes down to one overlooked principle: discipline. For creative entrepreneurs, makers, artists, and business owners, discipline can feel like the enemy of creativity. But Scripture tells a different story. Discipline is actually a gift empowered by the Holy Spirit — and it’s one of the most powerful tools for protecting your calling, strengthening your focus, and preparing you for the life you’re praying for. In this episode, Amy shares how discipline grows like fruit, how structure safeguards your purpose, and why small daily decisions quietly shape your future. If you’ve ever struggled with focus, consistency, distractions, or self-doubt in business or life, this episode will help you see discipline in a completely new way. In This Episode You’ll Learn Why self-discipline is essential for entrepreneurs and creative leaders The difference between discipline and hustle culture How discipline protects your calling, peace, and focus Why many creatives struggle with discipline — and how to overcome it The biblical foundation for self-control as a fruit of the Spirit How small daily decisions build strong character and leadership Why discipline is actually training for the life you are praying for 3 Key Takeaways 1. Discipline Is a Gift — Not a Personality Trait Self-discipline is not something reserved for naturally organized people. According to Scripture, it is empowered by the Holy Spirit and available to every believer. 2. Discipline Protects What Matters Most Without structure around our time, habits, finances, and thinking, we become vulnerable to distraction, anxiety, and burnout. Discipline builds the protective walls that safeguard your calling. 3. Discipline Prepares You for Answered Prayer If you’re praying for growth, influence, and responsibility, discipline is the training ground that builds the capacity to carry it. Scripture Referenced in This Episode 2 Timothy 1:7 “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” Proverbs 25:28 “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” 1 Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Why This Episode Matters The world tells entrepreneurs to hustle harder. But Scripture tells us to train wisely. Discipline isn’t about becoming rigid — it’s about becoming reliable to the calling God has placed in your hands. If you’re praying for growth, this episode will challenge you to ask an important question: Are you training for the life you’re asking God to give you?   #ChristianEntrepreneur #WomenInBusiness #EntrepreneurMindset #FaithAndBusiness #SelfDiscipline #LeadershipGrowth #CreativeEntrepreneur #BusinessPodcast #FaithDrivenLeadership #BigGirlPantiesPodcast

EP 022: Letting Go of Control When the World Feels Unstable

In today’s episode, Amy shares a deeply personal conversation about something many of us are feeling right now—uneasiness about the future. The headlines are loud. The noise is constant. And for women leading families, businesses, and teams, the instinct to control every outcome can feel overwhelming. But what if the peace we’re searching for doesn’t come from tighter control… but from loosening our grip and trusting God instead? After more than 35 years in business, Amy reflects on the moments where she tried to engineer every outcome—and the moments where she simply followed a quiet nudge from God. Surprisingly, the greatest breakthroughs in her life and business were not the ones she controlled. They were the ones where she stepped forward in faith. And as Amy recently began studying the Book of Revelation, one truth became clear: God is not surprised by the world we’re living in right now. He isn’t scrambling. He isn’t reacting. He is sovereign. So what does it look like to lead a business, a family, and a life of purpose when the world feels unstable? The answer might surprise you. Key Takeaways 1. Worry Is Not a Strategy Anxiety drains our energy but never produces clarity. Faith-led leaders prepare wisely—but refuse to live in fear. 2. Release Control Daily Peace comes when we stop gripping outcomes and begin casting our worries onto God. 3. Your Calling Has Not Changed Even when the world feels uncertain, your purpose remains steady. The mission God placed on your life does not change because the world feels unstable.

EP 012: Why Failure Feels Personal: Here's How to Break Free and Move Forward

What if the “dirty word” failure is actually your greatest gateway to growth? In today’s episode, Amy dives into the creative’s curse‑and‑call: as makers, our work is wrapped up in our identity—and when something doesn’t land, we feel it in our soul. But what if instead of letting a failed launch, a silent sale, or a rejected idea define us—we used it to refine us? She unpacks how failure touches your work but does not define your worth, and how God uses what looks like setback to set up something greater. You’ll hear: Why failure hurts deeper for creatives (because you are your art) The “artist fear‑loop” and how it traps you in hesitation → stalling → giving up How to reframe your view: failure = feedback, not finality Three actionable moves to go from stuck → stepping forward in your calling Why your mistakes may become the fuel for your message, your platform, or your ministry If you’ve ever felt defeated by a project that didn’t work, compared yourself to someone “doing it better,” or wondered if your creative calling was real—this episode is your permission slip to rise again. EP 011: How to Commit to the 20% That Builds Your Business as a Creative

What happens when everything around you is inspiring—but nothing seems to stick? In this episode, Amy Howard opens up about a key creative struggle: when your gift to notice beauty becomes your biggest distraction. As a maker, entrepreneur and believer, she shows how our God‑given wiring to see textures, colors, ideas and possibilities can also pull us off course if we don’t learn to edit our lives. We’ll dive into how to: Recognize the cost of distraction—not just minutes lost, but momentum, clarity and peace surrendered Differentiate between “good ideas” and “God ideas” for your business, creativity and calling Reverse‑engineer goals: working backwards from what matters most and saying no with grace to everything else Know your 20 %—the audience or customers that matter most—and protect your focus for them Silence the internal noise of comparison and embrace the lane God gave you Whether you feel pulled in too many directions, stuck in vicious cycles of busyness, or like you're just spinning without arriving—this episode offers actionable truth rooted in faith, creativity and purpose. Takeaway challenge: This week, open your planner, define one big goal, list the distractions that tend to hijack you, and schedule one sacred block of time to focus on your craft. Then intentionally say “no thank you” to at least one thing that doesn’t move you toward your purpose.   #FaithAndBusiness   #CreativeFocus #GodIdeas #StopTheNoise #ChristianEntrepreneur #PurposeOverPressure #FocusOnWhatMatters #DistractionFree #CalledToCreate #EditYourLife

You’ll hear: Why we crave clarity but avoid the work required to find it How our passions and giftings can act as guideposts—not accidents The danger of chasing the next shiny idea instead of staying consistent Biblical frameworks (Micah 6:8, 1 Peter 4:10, Matthew 22:37) to tie purpose to loving God and others Three actionable steps you can implement this week to begin discovering your purpose This episode is for you if you’ve ever wondered: “Am I supposed to be doing that or this?” “If clarity doesn’t come soon, do I just give up?” “How do my faith and creativity intersect with what I’m supposed to do?” Challenge for the Week: Turn off the scroll, step into your creative space, and begin doing—not waiting—for your purpose to unfold.
