Kellie Rucker "ain't i the one"

Fine Texas Lady of Blues and Americana Kellie Rucker. This is a song of her first cd "i ain't hittin' bottom". Beside the fact that Kellie is a real live performer and songsmith, she's an ACE on playing harmonica! This year's gonna bring Kellie and her band a well filled roster. Her new cd called "Blues is Blues" is doing very well. We take bookings for Kellie Rucker, who wants to play all major bluesclubs in Belgium and the Netherlands. Nixx Blues Enschede and Bluesclub XXL, Wageningen booked her already. Who's next? For people who like John Hiatt, Imperial Crowns, Bonnie Raitt, Soul, Melissa Etheridge to name a few. But....Kellie is original!

  2. 30

    Delta Highway

That's right! This is one amazing  bunch of four real 100% bluesmen. They recorded two cd's in the past years, ranked 5stars everywhere. 2010 will be a very special year with tours in Europe and a new cd in the making!  Available for festivals and venues in Netherlands and Belgium may 2010

  3. 29

    Too Slim and the Taildraggers(USA)

The Incredible Cool  Too Slim and the Taildraggers                                                                                                This band is the ultimate melting pot adopting all Americana / American music styles, with their own genuine sound!  Southern Rock, Bluesrock, pure Blues, Roots, Rock  ***** stars !   The band is available for bookings festivals and venues in Nederland en Belgie from 1 untill 12 may 2010 check out our website for more details

  4. 28

Rory Gallagher "Barley and Grape rag"

RORY ! RORY ! RORY ! Wauw did we get mad and excited by mr. Rory Gallagher. We dressed exactly like him back in the 70's !! His ROCKPALAST gigs on German tv...we watched it all night long: those were real major happenings. Live Music all night! If you're a fan of Rory, listen to JULIAN SAS then! LINK: http://www.rorygallagher.com http://www.rockpalast.de http://www.juliansas.com

  5. 27

    Chris Whitley "Poison Girl"

Live version of Chris' Whitley's poison girl, from his debut cd LIVIN' with the law, which was and still is a masterpiece for all americana, blues and roots fans. LINK: http://www.chriswhitley.com

  6. 26

    Tinariwen "Nar Djenetbouba"

TINARIWEN: Amazing blues from the Sahara desert. The band actually formed in 1982 in Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi's rebel camp, but these desert warriors soon concentrated on their Malian homeland. As with their countrymen Ali Farka Toure and Boubacar Traoré, there is a direct line between Tinariwen's desert songs and the blues. Composed of six guitarists-vocalists, a percussionist, and three backup singers, the group plays hypnotic blues figures. When Robert Plant first heard this band perform he stated this was the music he was searching for his whole life! Yes folks: this is music from blues' motherlode Africa once more!! LINK: http://tinariwen.artistes.universalmusic.fr/

  7. 25

    Sherman Robertson

Blues with a lot of soul and boogie: Sherman Robertson is in the house! Saw him live twice: TOP of the BILL. Listen and agree! LINK: http://www.movinmusic.co.uk/sherman_robertson.htm Hall of fame of www.bluesclub-xxl.nl Picture by myself during "unplugged" walkin' blues solo by Sherman outside Bluesclub XXL Wageningen, Netherlands

  8. 24

Drive by Truckers "Ronnie and Neil"

Influenced by Southern Rock icons LYNYRD SKYNYRD, DBT manages to create their own fierce, typical southern rock sound. Great tales/ lyrics, great guitars, great band. Saw them live in Doornroosje, Nijmegen,Gelderland a few years ago and they kicked my ass heavy, a 3 hour gig ! LINK: http://www.drivebytruckers.com/

  9. 23

    T-model Ford

Fat possum label: bringing us surprising blues artists like Black Keys and....mr: T-Model Ford, Mississippi born. Raw sound, hard life... This sounds like he's been to the crossroads several times allright. Watch T-Model Ford LIVe @ bluescafe Apeldoorn 10th of May!! (http://www.bluescafe.nl) LINK: http://www.fatpossum.com/

  10. 22

Miles Davis and Chet Baker "Autumn leaves"

Two giants on trumpet with a jazz classic "autumn leaves": miles davis and Chet Baker.

  11. 21

    Otis Taylor "boy plays mandolin"

MAN! What a great sound. Quite unique. Hypnotic, on the edge. Otis Taylor is called MALCOLM X of the blues. A great artist, genuine in his music and lyrics.

  12. 20

sixteen horsepower / 16 horsepower "American Weeze"

One of the most interesting bands from the past decades in my opinion. This cold, bare, fanatic, intense sound of David Eugene Edwards and his band... Sacred and: beware you sinners! Humble David Eugene with the bible as his weapon. Awsome! The live dvd from Sixteen Horsepower shows their great class in songwriting and instrumentation. The king is dead, long live the king! (new king's name is Woven Hand) LINK: http://www.16horsepower.net/

  13. 19

Gene Clark & Doug Dillard " with care from someone"

I heard this LP GC&DD for the first time when i was 15 years of age. The only music with banjo / country i knew up till then was a song from ANY GET YOUR GUN, the well known musical and Johny Cash of course. I was struck by the intimacy and gentle, proud instrumentation combined with great vocals. Sunshine! My neighbour gave me the LP as a present instantly because of my reaction. I still treasure it..

  14. 18

    Jeff Lang

Australian Jeff Lang chilling music ! For all fans of Chris Whitley, Ry Cooder, 16 horsepower, Americana and well...just honest good music with lots of chilling slide guitar. On the pic, Jeff is the guy sitting on the floor, with CHRIS WHITLEY beside him, with one of his national steel dobro guitars. LINK: http://jefflang.com.au/

  15. 17

    Grayson Capps not Caps

Katrina came...the levees broke. A major disaster for inhabitants of 'the big easy' New Orleans. This Grayson Capps song is a strong and proud signal to the failing Bush government. See Spike Lee's new film : When the Levees Broke. Great song, like all songs from Grayson Capps.

  16. 16

    Ian Moore "Muddy Jesus"

Texan Ian Moore, a somewhat strange but talented artist. A bit of blues, bit of soul, rock. This song is really cool.

  17. 15

    Mary Gauthier "Sugar Cane"

Mary once owned a Cajun food Restaurant in the States. Nowadays, she's famous as an artist who brings chilling songs of desperation, misfortune and misfits. Now on tour in the Netherlands! One of the most impressive roots americana artists in my opinion

  18. 14

Billie Holiday "I'm in a low down groove"

Lady Day. My father used to listen to jazz music. I was thrilled by her Voice when i first heard her sing.. blues, jazz and soul to the bones..

  19. 13

Bonnie Raitt & Lowell George "Louisiana Blues"

Two giants on slide guitar here! I once saw Little Feat at Rockpalast on German tv in the 70's. It became one of my favourite bands. Lowell explained the technique of bottleneck guitar playing after the show. Very impressive!

  20. 12

The Juke Joints "Don't give it up"

Dutch bluesrock band inspired by Rory Gallagher, Sonny Boy Williamson and Cajun. Rock Rollin' Blues. A symphatic bunch of guys, it's party time when they rock the place. LINK: www.thejukejoints.com

  21. 11

    Imperial Crowns "Lil' Death"

Imperial Crowns played BLuesclub XXL Wageningen a few years ago. They were steaming hot, mean, hypnotic, dirty and rocking! PREACHING THE BLUES ! LINK: www.imperialcrowns.com

  22. 10

    Lee Clayton

This desperate, howling and barenaked song is SO essential to me! Lee Clayton is so desperate, honest in his lyrics it's almost frightening. Philip Donelly, his gitarist from Ireland, is a perfect 'translator' for Lee's feelings and thoughts with his outstanding guitar sound. (cold night in the desert, wolves howling, seeking absolution..)

  23. 9

    RL Burnside "44 Pistol"

Robert Lee Burnside: RIP, he died in 2005. His doctors told him NO MORE ALCOHOL. R.L. then decided he could not play the blues without "moonshine" no more.. isn't that THE blues? LINK: http://www.fatpossum.com/

  24. 8

Rob Orlemans & Half Past Midnight "Mean black snake"

This man plays his guitar like Jimmy Hendrix did: lefthanded. Impressive list of cd's and a very nice person. See him on stage november 17, Bluesnight Ochten with MICK TAYLOR ! LINK: http://www.gitaarnet.nl/magazine/gitaarvan/roborlemans/roborlemans.php3 http://www.bluesstage.nl

  25. 7

    Ron Hacker & Hacksaws

I had the pleasure to enjoy two gigs of Ron Hacker @ Bluesclub XXL Wageningen over the last two years. Impressive guitar player with a great band. Calls himself ' white trash bluesman' and wrote a book about his typical blues life. Ron IS the blues! One underrated bluesman in my opinion. GREAT LYRICS this one, anti Bush government. ".i lied to start a dirty war, i lied and lied some more..now a lot of mothers kids won't come home no more. You know those kids are gone, they will come home no more. But i'm the president..." SLIDE!!!!!!!! LINK: http://www.ronhacker.com http://www.bluesclub-xxl.nl

  26. 6

    Henk 'Harpo' van Aggelen "Desolation"

Great tune from Rhinetown blues & americana artist Harpo van Aggelen. From his "Official Bootleg demo" cd.

  27. 5

    Curtis Mayfield

This one's 4 my lovely wife, one of our favorite tunes. Just the perfect soul and funk sound. Timeless, cool, hot, sensual.

  28. 4

Johnny Winter " I love everybody"

Man, that mean raw voice and superior yet dirty guitar sound. Blues to the bone! " But i'm horny as i can be"

  29. 3

    North Mississippi Allstars "Horseshoe"

Come on over to play some gigs in the Netherlands, you Southern Boys!! Their sound is so....well JukeJoint like.. (to be honest: i've never been to one...hope to go there one day. travel some backroads and lose myself for a while in a jukejoint) Anyway: great band.

  30. 2

Ali Farka Toure The African Blues Genius

Another legend who passed away recently.... Not only is Africa the motherlode of the Blues but there is a lot of great blues played over there today! Desert Blues !

  31. 1

The Late Chris Whitley "GOD LEFT TOWN"

During his life, i was lucky to see and hear 3 performances of him. First time was in the year his first cd was released at PARKPOP Den Haag. He played a crowd of over 180.000 people. Second time was at TIVOLI Utrecht. His guitar sound was more intens and raw already compared with first gig. Last time was at Doornroosje Nijmegen. This was a solo performace in 2003. He looked very fragile, lonely and almost haunted. Did he already suffered from cancer then? May you have found the GOOD RED ROAD Chris...
