A long place ago, in a time far far away, I was in this hardcore band called Slackjaw. The punkrock scene in Lawrence at that time was...well...happening, but full of idiots, morons and fools. There where a few who *FINALLY* figured out that I am a big Queer. This appearently was news to them, even to some that I thought where closer friends. Their reaction was "Interesting" to say the least. I still don't know if I felt more hurt, or just digusted by their reactions and behavior. We would get onstage, and these morons would stand in the back, or in the crowd and yell "FAGGOT!" at me, and all of the typical stuff. Their basic goal was to shame me back into the closet. They wanted to intimidate me into going back into the closet. All kinds of threats where written towards me in the bathroom. I took those threats as seriously as I could...considering that they where written by a coward that couldnt say those things to my face. It was hillarious to hear about the rumors they where spreading about me...that I'm GAY. Huh? Thats not much of a juicey rumor when I had already thrown the closet door open with such force it shattered, and there was no hinding anything. On this recording, you can't hear the "heckling" from the back from these jackasses calling me a faggot, and trying to somehow intimidate me.....This recording wasn't the first time I had said this sort of thing on stage. I wish I had a recording of the first time..... It might be a little hard to make out, but I am saying "By the way, I'm GAY, that means I fuck men. .....and if any of you have something to say about it, then come on up and talk to them" (I was refering to the singer, who was caught between his own "PC" image (And image was all it was) and his OWN homophobia...and friendship with the homophib hecklers...I wanted to see if HE was tough enough to deal...) It's funny how it works: In many circles, the ones that advertize themselves as "PC" and "Tollerant"...its ok to be Gay, but it is NOT ok to actually love and have sex with MEN. It's also funny how when homophobic shits can't chase you because you don't run, and can't find you out, and blackmail you, because you won't hide....they just don;t know where to go from there.

Maybe I relate to the scapegoat, martyr thing. Oswald was killed for YOUR sins. Oswald was, and remains, and enigma, and fascinating. And kinda cute. Why can't I fall in love with someone who is actually LIVING?

In Kansas, you can marry a 14 year old! It is "biblical" and "godly" to prohibit Queers from getting married. But suddenly it is not the states business to interfer with 14 year olds, or even 8 year olds to get married. (As long as they're straight) What do you want from life?

Kansas sets minimum age of 14 for marriage, Queers STILL cannot marry. Senators claim it is "Godly", and "biblical" to create state prohibitions against Gay marriage, but suddenly it is not the states business to interfer with 14 year olds getting married. What do you want from life?
