The October 7, 2016 edition features Valerie Simmons-Walston, Dean of Students at Brenau University, interviewed by WBCX's Jay Andrews on the various university tasks she is responsible for, her experiences in the Office of Student Services , and more. Valerie is the university judicial officer and oversees all aspects of Honor court, Brenau’s student led conduct system. In addition, she overseas Residence Life Staff, Career Services, Office of International Studies and the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs. Valerie is responsible for student retention, is an advocate for the students, and is a liaison with faculty. She is also responsible for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. convocation and instrumental in other aspects of multi-cultural/diversity and education at Brenau. 89.1 WBCX interview retired professor Clara Martin, who created and chaired Brenau University's Mass Communications department for decades. Professor Martin discusses how Brenau applied for and received licensing for WBCX, how the Mass Communications department grew, how she formed alliances with CNN and other Atlanta media outlets to help students find media jobs, and more. The interview was conducted February 23, 2016 in the WBCX studios located on Brenau's historic Gainesville, Ga campus. Professor Martin is interviewed by one of her former students, Jones P. 'Jay' Andrews, who serves as Director of Broadcasting and Digital Communications at Brenau.

89.1 WBCX's Jay Andrews interviews Jody Sperling, artist-in-residence at Brenau University’s Department of Dance, and founder and artistic director of Time Lapse Dance, the world's foremost interpreter of the dance style of Loie Fuller. Brenau University’s Department of Dance hosts Dancing in the Arctic at the Brenau University Downtown Center’s Theatre on the Square Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. Afterward, Sperling will share her experiences dancing on Arctic sea ice and join members of the Brenau faculty from various disciplines in a free, public panel discussion.
