#111 - Marketing That Feels Like You
Marketing That Feels Like You If marketing has ever felt like putting on a costume, this episode is your reset. Jill Olish and Kim White walk through how to choose marketing that fits your voice, your life season, and your actual energy instead of copying what “works” for everyone else. You’ll leave with a simple minimum weekly plan you can stick with, even on the weeks when life is heavy. Real stories of “misfit marketing” like forced dancing Reels, posting everywhere daily, and copying someone else’s voice How to choose marketing channels that match your natural style: talker, writer, or visual storyteller Why your current life season (caregiving, kids, health, etc.) should shape your marketing rhythm Replacing heavy “shoulds” (“be everywhere, post every day”) with kinder, sustainable rules you can actually live by How to set a minimum weekly marketing plan that feels doable on hard weeks, with everything else treated as bonus Aligned marketing fits who you are and the life you’re actually living, not some hypothetical version of you with endless energy. This episode helps you release the noise, keep what feels honest, and build a rhythm you can maintain without burning out. Hit play, drop one marketing “should,” and choose one simple, consistent way to show up for your people this week. #109 - Boundaries That Protect Your Sexy Life
Boundaries That Protect Your Sexy Life Buckets & Boom Gates with Jill Olish & Kim White In this episode, Jill and Kim get honest about one of the least “sexy” words that actually protects your sexy business and sexy life: boundaries. If you’re feeling exhausted, resentful, or like you’re always “on” for your clients, this conversation is for you. Jill and Kim share real-life confessions, walk through three essential types of boundaries, and give you one simple boundary to set this week. In this episode, we talk about:- Why boundaries are non-negotiable if you want a business that doesn’t burn down your life - A personal story of breaking your own boundary - The boundary that was set (hours, access, or emotional) - How it got broken (late nights, weekends, extra access) - The impact on energy, family, and attitude toward clients - The key realization: “The problem wasn’t the client. The problem was I didn’t honor my own boundary.” - What we really mean by having a “sexy” business that can still feel awful if you don’t protect your life around it The 3 types of boundaries that protect your sexy life: 1. Time boundaries What they are: when you work and when you don’t. Examples: - Defined work hours - Specific meeting days vs non-meeting days - Protected no-work evenings or weekends Why they matter: - They protect your rest and relationships - They give your brain certainty: “I can close the laptop at X o’clock.” 2. Access boundaries What they are: how and when people can reach you. Examples: - Clients using email or a client portal instead of personal text - Clear response windows (like “I reply within 48 business hours”) - No unscheduled calls Without access boundaries, you end up in constant interruption mode and start to feel “owned” by your business instead of in charge of it. 3. Emotional boundaries What they are: what you will and won’t carry emotionally for your clients and your business. Examples: - Not letting a client’s urgency become your emergency - Not tying your self-worth to a launch, a month, or a metric - Knowing when to say, “This isn’t my problem to fix” You’ll hear a moment where emotional boundaries stopped a spiral and protected mental and emotional energy. Simple boundary templates you can use: Time boundary template: “My working hours are [days, times]. I do not schedule calls or reply to messages outside those hours.” Access boundary template: “The best way to reach me is [channel]. I respond within [time frame] on business days.” Emotional boundary template: “I’m responsible for showing up fully and delivering what I promised. I’m not responsible for [client’s last-minute panic / decisions I can’t control].” Jill and Kim also talk through how you might share these with:- A new client - An existing client - Your partner or family Your one boundary assignment this week: If you only do one thing from this episode, do this:1. Choose one area: time, access, or emotional. 2. Write a one-sentence boundary statement using the templates above. 3. Communicate it to one person this week. That might be a client, a team member, or someone at home. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but your future self will thank you. Recap: We covered three core boundary types that become building blocks for a sexy business and sexy life:- Time boundaries - Access boundaries - Emotional boundaries Putting these in place creates more peace, more presence, and less resentment in both your work and your life. Next up: In the next episode, Jill and Kim dive into buckets, boom gates, and burnout, and how to protect your capacity as you grow. A behind-the-scenes story of an offer that looked great but drained everything The difference between revenue on paper and the emotional cost of an offer A simple way to rate your offers for profit and emotional cost The “sexy offer” test: can this run when you’re tired or in a busy season? Practical tweaks to make offers lighter without burning everything down Choose one offer in your business. Ask yourself: What is the most draining part of this offer for me? #107 - Confessions When Growth Wrecks Your Life - Are you saying Yes to the Wrong Things
Confessions: When Growth Wrecks Your Life Kim and Jill get honest about the times “more” didn’t feel better. They share real stories of growth seasons that cost them their health, peace, and relationships, and introduce the idea of “boom gate moments” where you need to pause instead of push. Confessions from Kim and Jill about growth that looked good on paper but wrecked real life What a “boom gate moment” is and how to recognize it in your own business Signs you’re at or near capacity even if revenue is growing Why capacity matters more than opportunity for a truly sexy business Simple questions to ask before you say yes to the next client, project, or collaboration Before you say yes to the next opportunity, pause and ask yourself three questions: What will this cost my time and energy each week? What part of my life might this pull from (health, family, rest, creativity)? If I say yes, what will I pause or stop to make room for it?Write these three questions on a sticky note near your computer and use them this week. #106 What Is a Sexy Business, Really? Is it possible for you to have one?
In this episode of Buckets & Boom Gates, Kim and Jill redefine what a “sexy business” actually is and how to start spotting the parts of your business that don’t support the life you want. This is the foundation for everything that follows. The true definition of a “sexy business” (and why it’s not just about sales or followers) How Kim and Jill built businesses that looked successful on the outside, but felt terrible on the inside The four filters to run every business decision through: time, money, energy or bandwith, and relationships How to start noticing the “unsexy” parts of your business that need attention How you can build a business that supports a sexy life Take 5–10 minutes to write down three parts of your business that feel the most “unsexy” right now: draining, heavy, complicated, or out of alignment with your life. Then circle the one that bothers you the most. That’s your starting point for change as you keep listening to the show. #105: Practicing in Public - Building Confidence Through Events and Collaboration
Join Kim White and Jill Olish in the Buckets & Boom Gates studio, along with guests Adam Rothenberg, Denise Millet, Donna Bender, and Cat Corchado, as they unpack the real “hiccups and hurdles” of hosting live events as entrepreneurs. Fresh off the Fierce Entrepreneur Summit, they talk candidly about forgotten recordings, tech glitches, red‑light fear, and the pressure of stepping into new roles on stage and behind the scenes. Instead of chasing perfection, this roundtable shows how practicing in public, collaborating with others, and being honest when things go sideways can actually build more confidence, connection, and opportunity in your business. In this episode, you’ll learn: How recent hiccups (from missed deadlines to workshop mishaps) were handled differently because of what was shared at the summit Why “red‑light fear” shows up when you hit record, and how repeated practice helps you move through it The different kinds of pressure that come with being a host vs. a guest on an event or summit How Good Morning Entrepreneurs weekly show, podcasts, and quarterly summits all work together as “practice grounds” for clearer, more confident communication Why collaboration is the “sexiest” way to host an event and expand your reach without doing it all alone The core questions to ask before planning an event: Why are you doing it, who is it for, and what solution are you really offering? Events don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. This conversation will encourage you to try new roles, collaborate generously, and remember that the “easy” comes after all the practice. Multitasking is a Harmful Myth that can cause Stress & Unnecessary Pressure - Try THIS Instead
Kim White and Jill Olish are back in the BBG Studio, again with a live audience, with a topic that Kim can get some pushback on. In this episode, they explain why they have ditched the illusion of multitasking and implemented 'batching.' Keep listening to learn how batching can have an impact on personal things, businesses, and the relationships around you.Why batching and not multitasking?Have more things finished and done because you're focusing 100% on that thing Pro tip for multiplying your time and getting more done in less timeIf you're only 'on ramping' and 'off ramping' one time, you're already saving time, even if you're at the same speedYou can make two lasagnas at the same time with the same amount of dirty pansWhat would it look like if you did a whole month's worth of socials in a day so that you wouldn't have to think about it?You're done for longer periods of time, and it's such a reliefEven turn relationships into better thingsChallenge: Pick something that's similar, whether it's cooking, recording, emails, or anything, see how much quicker you can be when you do two at one time or three at one timeJust imagine, with some thinking ahead, those holiday meals that are coming up can be batched ahead of time, allowing you to be present and not so stressed in the actual holiday.Batching may seem like it wouldn't do much to multiply your time but try it and see. What does being an entrepreneur or business owner really cost? The cost of freedom
The conversation in the BBG Studio gets a bit spicy on this episode involves un-learning and learning things on this business adventure. Indiana Jones has nothing on us entrepreneurs. There are dangers along the way and plenty of mazes to find the success of freedom. We are talking about the cost of that freedom on today's show. What is the one thing or reason that keeps you going on this adventure?Having a child changes what is most importantThings we give up and sacrifice to get freedomSecurity, effort, and financial shiftsCompromising in each of the roles, jobs, positions Limited income vs unlimited incomeDifferent kinds of freedom and the cost of eachCompliance, regulations, responsibilitiesIllusion of the glamorousSelf disciplined enough to show up Plans, systems, and a teamVacation from a vacationHow others are impacted by our choicesExample of sacrificing something important for something more importantConfessions of a workaholic and the guiltNot thinking outside of the usual, stuck in a rutSeeing doors and opportunities around usWorking in a different capacityWhat could happen? What if?Shifting like a true adventurerStuck can be paralyzing and scary waiting gameWhat is the treasure in the entrepreneur adventure?Dreaming of milestones and seeing them come to lifeThe freedom of choice comes with costs but we do have the opportunities around us if we look for them like hidden treasure. Welcome to the Buckets and Boom Gates Studio with Kim White and Jill Olish. This week's conversation in the Team Series is focused on the right, or wrong, ways to delegate. Kim shares some confessions on the wrong ways to delegate. And together Jill and Kim discuss gaining more time back for you as the owner versus spending all your time doing all the little things in your business. Keep listening to hear their own trials learning how to get support from others. One of the worst ways to delegateAssuming someone else knows what you knowYour business owns you because you can't delegateAsking questions means my instructions aren't clearAn assistant of any kind is for the purpose of delegating to them something that takes something off you as the owner's plateDelegating because we don't like something is a great place to startThe hardest place to start when you start delegating Trying to cut the cost in the wrong placeA team supports my calendar so that the business can run without meSo delegation to, Kim and Jill, is the key to setting things in motion. It's just knowing how to delegate and when to delegate because, without it, it's not possible to have a business that doesn't own you. Join us next week for another episode in the Team Series. So you can come and check out a community that is learning together, and implementing the things we talk about on this podcast at the Groundwork Brigade Mastermind Open House. Team Series - Our Process of Learning to Delegate, Build a Team, and Find a Team
Welcome to the Buckets and Boom Gates Studio with Kim White and Jill Olish. This week's conversation in the Team Series is focused on how someone's "want to" impacts your whole life and not just your business. Confessions and behind the scenes are a regular part of this podcast. Listen in as we spill the tea on ourselves."Want To" can be damaged by many different thingsLooking for a team and it's cultureThe process we use to start a team or add onto a teamDating/Interviewing ScenarioAbility to learn is tied to "want to"Anyone can apply for our team but Team 30, 60, & 90 spots are earnedShowboating is not part of our cultureInterning to learn or find a spot on the teamWho you are serving mattersHow working together like a high school project shows your motivesWill you be the next one they are talking aboutCharacter is shown in how you handle being on a teamFacets on a team includes flexibility, skills, challengesLeaders have to recognize human things to decide on keeping team membersEach member leaves a ripple effectGraduating a team member for good or bad reasonsDon't get this twisted about a team... Showboating, being selfish, resentful of working, and other things serving your own self is not the same as taking care of yourself so you can show up and be part of the team and help others around you. When an entrepreneur or business owner needs to delegate tasks, it is vital to build a team in the right way so you have the ability to delegate long term. Building a business that supports your life instead of one that takes your life is influenced by how you delegate.Ready to learn to delegate? Come join us in the Groundwork Brigade Mastermind Community and see how powerful it is to build the right kind of team in the right way.

Messy vs Sloppy - Versus Series
This week in the BBG Studio the discussion continues in the versus series. This episode gets spicy and hits close to home as we compare the difference between messy and sloppy. While messy is beautiful and shows progress, sloppy is a much different thing in our businesses. Confessions included during this convo...Getting started and showing the flawsStart before you feel readyContinuously improve over timeEveryone starts at zero no matter what they are startingIt takes courage to startAre you too tired or don't care anymore?Pause or full stopTaking care of yourself as a humanCaution to slow down when things start to get sloppyIdentifying there is a problemSigns things have changed from messy to sloppyPivots, shifts, adjustmentsHas your 'want to' changedDoing a bad job because something changed is not the same as learning as we go. Things shift, change, and evolve in our businesses and our schedules. We as humans also go through changes. Recognizing the sloppy and making sure we navigate those transitions is important. It takes courage to start and it takes even more to shift, pivot, and adjust. Since Kerry started podcasting, she has done over 400 podcast episodes and is now a rockstar podcaster. Someday the rest of us may get to Kerry's level, but until then, embrace our messy because we don't want to be sloppy with you our amazing listener!Join us next week for a living example of making sure we are not being sloppy going forward.Love Y'ALL ❤️Kim & KerryJoin our Groundwork Brigade where we show you how to build a relational business using irresistible marketing strategies, tailored around your individual needs, in a group setting, with lots of accountability and support.
