Why Everyone Feels Exhausted in May (and What Your Brain Needs)
Okay, I need to know if this is just me… or is May secretly the most busy, full, overwhelming month of the entire year?Because somehow every human being decided:let’s do graduations, field days, teacher appreciation week, Mother’s Day, performances, testing, schedule changes, summer planning, emotional breakdowns, and fourteen extra responsibilities… ALL AT THE SAME TIME.And if your brain suddenly feels scattered, emotionally thinner than normal, overstimulated, exhausted, forgetful, or behind on everything right now…there’s actually a reason for that.In this episode, we’re getting curious about: cognitive load attention fragmentation “attention residue” transition fatigue why overloaded seasons affect us so deeply and why overwhelm is not a character flaw Because maybe the question isn’t:“What’s wrong with me?”Maybe the better question is:“What is my brain and body carrying right now?”And honestly? Let’s Talk About My Coffee Machine: Why You’re Resisting the Very Thing That Could Change Your Life
Why do we resist the very things that could make our lives better? Not the big, pack-your-bags, change-your-life kind of changes…But the small, daily shifts that would actually bring more peace, clarity, and ease into our lives. In this episode of the Called and Curious Podcast, Ashriel unpacks the surprising reason change feels so hard—and why the “simple things” we avoid are often the exact doorway to transformation.Because we’ve all felt it…That resistance to: starting something new doing it a different way putting in effort up front or stepping into something that stretches us Even when a part of us knows…this could actually help me.So instead, we stay where it’s familiar.Where it’s easier.Where it’s…fine. But what if “fine” is keeping you from something better? What if the thing you’re resisting…is actually where the shift is waiting? Not overnight. Not instantly. But slowly…consistently…over time.Until one day, you realize— it’s easier. it’s natural. it’s even…enjoyable. And there it is… your version of the sprinkle of cinnamon on top.Discover: Why your brain resists change (even when it’s good for you) The hidden phase of growth most people quit in How small, repeated actions move from effort → ease → automatic A simple, faith-rooted framework to help you move through resistance What it really looks like to “stay long enough for the blessing” 💛 Ready to move from resistance to real change?Love Moves gives you a simple, practical way to do just that:✨ The six-minute inside-out makeover ✨ A guided way to move your body, return your attention to God, and renew your mind in truth ✨ A repeatable rhythm you can come back to—no matter what your day looks like👉 Grab your copy of Love Moves here: Get My CopyBecause you don’t need more information. You need a way to actually live it. When a Woman Shows Herself Kindness: The Canary Island Rule
When was the last time you were celebrated… not for pushing through, but for finally taking care of yourself? Not for doing more. Not for holding it all together. Not for being everything to everyone.Just for being kind to yourself. In the Canary Islands, there’s a tradition: when a woman shows herself a kindness, her sisters congratulate her.And something about that feels both beautiful… and a little unfamiliar. In this episode, we step into a powerful moment from Canary Island Song by Robin Jones Gunn and unpack why it stops so many women in their tracks.Together, we’ll explore what Scripture actually says about caring for yourself, how God designed your brain to respond to kindness, and why so many of us feel guilt in the very moments we need grace the most.Because maybe self-kindness isn’t selfish.Maybe it’s stewardship.Maybe it’s wisdom.Maybe it’s long overdue. And maybe it’s time to stop quietly expecting yourself to burn out… and start honoring the moments you choose to care.By the end of this episode, you’ll have a simple practice to try this week — one that just might help you walk away thinking:I feel so lovely.START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? Awkward Celebration Time! (Your Brain Needs This)
Have you ever finished something hard… and then immediately moved on?No pause. No celebration. No “that mattered.”If you’ve ever felt like you’re growing but still somehow behind, this episode is for you.In today’s conversation, we’re talking about why celebration can feel awkward — and why your brain actually needs it.Because here’s the truth:Your mind is wired with a negativity bias. You’ll naturally replay what went wrong. You’ll rehearse what you wish you’d said differently. You’ll remember the birthday party you showed up to on the wrong day. (Yes… we’re going there. 😅)But positive moments? They fade in about 10–20 seconds unless you intentionally extend them. Which means if you don’t slow down and mark the win, your nervous system quietly files your growth under “normal Tuesday.”In this episode, you’ll learn:Why positive emotions fade so quickly (and what to do about it)How negativity bias affects your confidence and motivationWhat the Bible says about stacking “stones of remembrance” (hello, Joshua 4 👋)Why high-achievers often struggle to celebrateA simple 3-minute celebration reset you can practice this weekWe’re not talking about confetti cannons or forced positivity. We’re talking about the awkward, grounding, hand-over-heart kind of celebration. The kind that builds resilience. The kind that rewires your brain. The kind that reminds you who you’re becoming. So this week?Stack one stone a day.Pause.Take a breath. And say, “That mattered.”Because it did. Thanks for being here to celebrate episode 100 together... it means the world to me!START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? Belonging, Comparison, and the 99 SheepWe all know the Parable of the Lost Sheep in Luke 15. We picture the one who wandered. The one who needed rescuing. What happens in your heart and nervous system when someone else gets the rescue story? And how do we stay grounded when comparison quietly creeps in?Through Scripture, neuroscience, and an honest story about losing a favorite necklace, we’ll talk about:• The deeper meaning of Luke 15 • Belonging and comparison in everyday life • Why safety doesn’t automatically create peace • How faithfulness forms resilience • What it means to trust the Shepherd when love movesMost of life is lived as the 99.If you’ve ever felt overlooked, quietly compared yourself to someone else, or wondered whether staying faithful matters — this episode is for you.And next week, we sit down together for Episode 100. Does Jesus Think Your Faith Is Boring?
What if the most dangerous thing about your faith isn’t doubt…but familiarity? In this episode of the Called & Curious Podcast, we wrestle with a question that’s uncomfortable, funny, and deeply biblical:What if Jesus thinks your faith is boring?Scripture tells us Jesus was amazed only twice—once by faith, and once by unbelief. That means belief is never neutral. Hesitation isn’t harmless. And the way we respond to God’s invitations, his callings, is shaping who we are becoming. We want the kind of faith where that obedience looks foolish on the outside. "Foolish" faith amazes God. Through honest, foolish stories (awkward social media posts, starting a podcast with zero confidence, mermaid detours 😅), biblical examples (Esther, Mary, Moses, Jesus), and a little neuroscience, this episode is a wake-up call. Not a guilt trip. Not a hustle message.A reckoning. If you’ve ever felt called… but stalled, this episode is for you. We'll chat about why your calling is so important, how it's given just to you, and how sometimes we get nervous about that new *awkward, hard, foolish* thing in front of us, that we don't answer our call. Let's amaze Jesus by our belief and step into our God-given callings with courage! Also, Christine Caine, if you're listening, um—WOW! LolAnd also, that mention of you in the episode was made with the highest respect. I'm amazed by the work you do and the grace, humor, and power with which you deliver messages of Jesus.✨ Next week: we’ll get very practical and talk dopamine, motivation, and how your brain might be discipling you more than you realize. (Understanding this discipling offers a critical level of awareness that will help us navigate this time of political division as a Christian so we can lead conversations with grace, knowledge, and love.)And don't forget to:📖 Join the Book Launch (aka my brave, awkward ask)If this episode resonated, I’d love your help as my book Love Moves releases into the wild. You’ve got two easy ways to join—no pressure, just celebration.🎉 Book Launch Day Celebration Team or Launch Inner Circle: Join 👉 HERE START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? Life in the Hood
What if the way you experience life isn’t reality itself—but the mental model you’re wearing? In this episode of Called & Curious, we’re talking about Life in the Hood—a framework for understanding the mental models (or “hoods”) our brains learned to wear to stay safe, belong, and navigate the world. You’ll learn why some people feel instantly easy to be around, why others activate you without explanation, and how awareness of your own hood can change how you experience relationships, stress, faith, and everyday moments. This isn’t a personality test that puts you in a box. It’s an identification tool that helps you notice when your hood is up—and choose when to lower it.We explore six common hoods:🪞 Mirror Hood – tuned into people and emotions🧱 Fortress Hood – protected by strength and structure🔥 Spark Hood – energized by novelty, creativity, and joy🧭 Compass Hood – oriented toward direction and progress⚓ Harbor Hood – drawn to safety, quiet, and depth🔦 Lighthouse Hood – grounded in clarity, insight, and understandingNone of these are flaws. They’re adaptive patterns your brain learned for a reason. And once you can see your hood, you can start experiencing life more beautifully. What to Do After This Episode?1️⃣ Take the “What Hood Are You Wearing?” QuizThis short assessment helps you identify your primary hood, understand the mental model your brain learned to use, and discover what kind of support helps you reset and rewire most effectively.👉 Take the quiz here: What Hood Are You Wearing?2️⃣ Share Your Hood in the Love Movers Facebook GroupIf you’re already in the Love Movers Facebook group—or want to join—it’s an open, pressure-free space to connect. You’re becoming. We’re talking about the change gap—that in-between space where old patterns no longer fit, new ones aren’t automatic yet, and everything feels mildly exhausting. Using both neuroscience and Scripture, we’ll unpack why change drains your energy, what’s actually happening in your brain, and why God often does His deepest work in the middle. You’ll learn why discomfort doesn’t mean failure, how trust is formed before clarity arrives, and how what feels hard right now is shaping who you’re becoming later. If you’re navigating transition, growth, obedience, or uncertainty—this episode is for you.✨ You’re not failing.✨ You’re not behind.✨ God is rewiring you.Want to Go Deeper?Check out the Prettier Thoughts Toolbox in the Called & Curious Freebies section, which includes the Struggle Gap course for deeper support through seasons of change. Positive affirmations vs. God’s truth—and why renewing your mind changes everything. Check Your Socks: The Fragrance You Bring Into a Room
What if the way you show up changes the entire atmosphere? In this episode, we explore the fragrance of Christ through a hilarious real-life story, Scripture, and neuroscience. Learn how presence, peace, and love impact the nervous system, shape connection, and help us carry God’s peace into everyday moments. A faith-based conversation about embodiment, spiritual growth, and how love can be felt—not just spoken.Ever been sitting on the couch, minding your business…and suddenly realized something smells horrific?Yeah. Same.In this episode, I tell a very real (and very funny) family story involving:movie night 🍿one childone week-old pair of socksand a life lesson no one was ready for 😅But here’s where it gets deeper—That moment became a revelation about how we show up, what we carry, and the atmosphere we create everywhere we go.Because whether we realize it or not,we all bring a fragrance into the room. Not perfume. Not cologne. But presence. In This Episode, We Explore:✨ Why how you show up matters more than what you say ✨ The biblical idea of being the aroma of Christ (2 Corinthians 2:15) ✨ How love, peace, and safety are felt before they’re understood ✨ The neuroscience behind scent, memory, and emotional connection ✨ Why God didn’t call us to perform—He called us to carry ✨ How love as a fragrance can change a room without a single wordA Little Brain Science (The Fun Kind)Did you know the part of your brain that processes smell connects directly to the emotional and memory centers? That’s why:a scent can transport you instantlya person’s presence can calm or unsettle youand an atmosphere can shift before anyone speaksGod designed us this way on purpose.Which means when Scripture talks about the fragrance of Christ— it’s not poetic fluff. It’s embodied truth.💗 The Big TakeawayYou don’t have to convince people of God’s love. You get to let them experience it through how you enter rooms, respond to stress, and show up in ordinary moments. You’ve been entrusted with a fragrance. Not to perform. But to carry.🎯 This Week’s Simple ChallengeBefore you walk into any space— your home, your work, a conversation—Pause and ask:“God, what fragrance am I bringing with me right now?”Then choose one:LovePeacePatienceThaSTART HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? A Light Still Lit: Choosing Love in a Divided Season
A Called & Curious conversation where faith, story, and brain science intertwine to help you live from the overflow. This episode was hard to make.In a season meant for hope, joy, and peace, the world feels heavier than ever—marked by division, violence, judgment, and overwhelming expectations. This is a raw, unscripted reflection on grief, faith, and the courage it takes to keep choosing love when darkness feels loud.Drawing from real stories—both recent and historical—this episode explores how people have carried light in the darkest moments, from Holocaust-era Hanukkah celebrations to the quiet, faithful acts of hope we’re still called to today. There is no debate here.No performance. No pressure.Just an invitation to pause, reflect, and remember what this season was always meant to be about: connection over condemnation, love over fear, and the courage to keep lighting the candle.Listener discretion advised: This episode references real-world violence and loss. Please take care of your heart as you listen.One-Sentence Takeaway: True hope isn’t found in how perfectly we celebrate, but in our courage to choose love, tell the hard stories, and keep lighting the candle anyway.START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? When God Uses Waves: What Seashells Teach Us About Faith, Peace, and Growth
In this powerful faith-and-neuroscience episode, we step onto a quiet Thanksgiving morning beach where seashells, waves, dolphins, and a perfectly intact sand dollar become a moving picture of how God forms us, strengthens us, and speaks to us through the swirl of everyday life. You’ll learn why the “waves” in your life—the disruptions, the changes, the unexpected movement—might actually be the place where God is turning up hidden treasures. We explore how neuroplasticity, emotional regulation, and a Christ-centered perspective intersect to help you grow in clarity, resilience, and peace. Then, through the story of a broken sand dollar and the legend hidden inside it, you’ll discover how Jesus meets us in our brokenness and reveals peace in the very pieces we wish hadn’t shattered. This is a transformative conversation for anyone craving spiritual clarity, emotional renewal, and practical tools for living with more intention and peace during one of the busiest seasons of the year.✨ In This Episode, You’ll Learn:Why “braving the wave” is essential for spiritual growth and emotional resilienceHow movement and discomfort activate neuroplasticity and new pathways in the brainHow community and shared perspective reveal what we often can’t see aloneWhy independence sometimes breaks the very things we’re trying to protectThe Christian legend of the sand dollar—and what it reveals about Jesus, peace, and graceHow to identify which of the three spiritual takeaways God is highlighting for you right now🔥 Key Takeaways:Brave the Wave: God often uses motion and disruption to uncover hidden treasures in your life.Borrow Perspective: We receive clarity through community, emotional co-regulation, and Christ-centered relationships.Don’t Carry What Breaks Your Blessing: Peace grows when we surrender what we were never meant to hold alone.🧠 Faith + Neuroscience Highlights:The connection between attention, action, and brain rewiringHow shared perspective leads to emotional stability and deeper relational connectionWhy your nervous system responds to surrender with greater peace and regulationHow symbolism (like the five holes and doves in a sand dollar) anchors the gospel in the everyday world🤍 Resources Mentioned:The Brim Membership — includes:The Sleeping Pill Reset + many more! The Peace Planner + Peace Tracker7 Days of Presence (7 Special Gifts for your Inbox)START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? When the Monkey Mafia Hijacks Your Brain 🐒🧠 (and Your Peace)
Get your weekly faith-filled neuroscience tools to stop stress hijacks, rewire your brain, and reclaim peace through God’s design.Okay, friend, let me tell you about the time I got ambushed by the “monkey mafia” in Costa Rica. 🐒😂 What started as a funny story turned into the perfect picture of what happens when stress sneaks in and hijacks our minds. Neuroscientists call it an amygdala hijack—but in real life, it just feels like your peace, joy, and focus got stolen out from under you. Here’s the hope: God didn’t design us to stay hijacked. He designed your brain with neuroplasticity, the incredible ability to reset and rewire. That means you can train your mind (and body!) to recognize when stress tries to take over and respond with peace instead of panic. In this episode of the Called & Curious Podcast, I’ll show you how to:Recognize the early warning signs before stress takes over.Use simple breathwork to tell your brain, “You’re safe.”Shift from fear to love with gratitude.Reframe stress so it no longer defines you. This isn’t about trying harder—it’s about partnering with the Holy Spirit, using the way God wired your brain, and walking in everyday peace no matter what life throws your way.Because here’s the truth: your perspective can either imprison you or set you free. And girl, I want you free. 💛✨ New here? Start with my episode on what an amygdala hijack actually is 👉 Listen here so this one makes even more sense.📩 Don’t miss this: Grab your Love Move invitation link 👉 Get it now—your 6-minute reset designed to help you put these tools into action. The Disappointment Diaries: I Got Broke Up With by Email
Have you ever been rejected? Did you like it? The truth is, nothing about rejection feels good. It opens the door for the whispers of doubt and and the enemy has a hay-day! He desperately wants you to believe you are not enough and to not press forward. And he will try to destroy your purpose and dreams and he will use unlikely sources.Rejection is something we all have to deal with at some point. BUT, if we’re not aware and on guard, rejection can become not just a message, but a false “truth” that about who we are and what we’re made it do. Rejection allows the enemy in to use doubts and discouragement to sabotage who we’re meant to be. So let’s talk about it. Let’s talk about rejection and the breakup of our hopes. Because it’s real, and it’s life. But how do we use faith (and a sprinkle of behavorial neuroscience) to not let disappointment become a stinkin’ thinkin’ message about us and who God made us to be? Well, using my out-of-the-blue email breakup that initially crushed me, learn how we don’t have to let the enemy have a seat at our table while we dine at the battlefield of purpose.Okay, okay, I get it; while that sounds “nice” to say, nothing about this is easy and you don’t want to do it. WHY? Because it’s HARD. Our human nature and wiring wants us to spend time ruminating and plotting sweet revenge and to be honest, it’s way easier. (Oh is that just me? I had visions of sending a signed copy of my "best-selling book" Love Moves that helped thousands of woman heal and have a reset through love to the publisher to “show them” that I am enough. Ah revenge rumination.)We want to react from our flesh. We want to rage. We want to sob. And yet…Jesus wants us to respond, not as a doormat, but as a daughter of the King. But how do we do that?Well, since I've been a squashed caterpillar pancake (you’re welcome), I’m uniquely designed to share how we can rewire our brains to choose love over fear. Because we don’t want to become like the people who hurt us. Let's choose to let God’s love soak our kind, firm responses and show us how to move forward when our life has been sideswiped by rejection. Grab your coffee as we dive into the messy bits to understand how things that *feel* like setbacks can be God’s setups for something amazing! Are you ready for your breakup to become your breakthrough? Yes? YAY! (I feel like we’re in jammies and working through a breakup together over that steaming mug of really good coffee!) Let’s do this--let’s learn how other’s rejections and breakups can be God’s launchpad for our new, our next, and the more He has for our lives!Missed START HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? Blooming Against All Odds: Finding Hope When Life Gets Overwhelming
Someone handed me a plant and I almost cried. Not because I was happy, but because it seemed like one more thing I had to take care of and I was already drowning in overwhelm. This plant too was on its way to die; I just knew it.But what do we do when we’re struggling like me and that plant? What do we do when everything seems impossible and we’re doomed—all hope is gone?I want to take you on a plant journey (yes, I said it) and to come with me and my poor *seemingly* doomed plant that discovered hope and bloomed against all odds, even when it felt like everything in its world was trying to keep it down. And in this episode, you can discover intentional hope and bloom against all odds so you can grow in even the toughest, most fearful circumstances.Let’s talk about those fears for a moment. We all have those moments when our amygdala—the part of our brain responsible for our fear responses—decides to throw a full-on panic party. You know the feeling: racing heart, sweaty palms, and thoughts spiraling into the worst-case scenarios. But here’s the good news: we don’t have to let fear control our lives. We can shift from fear to love, and that’s where our faith comes in! Remember, God didn’t promise us a life free from challenges, but He did promise to be with us through every storm. When we lean into our faith, we make space for hope to bloom. So, how do we cultivate that hope? In the episode I share a little "toolkit" full of practical tips to help you navigate those overwhelming moments! Listen in and let me know which tool works best for you to find hope when it feels impossible!Remember that blooming against all odds is not just possible; it’s a beautiful testament to your resilience and faith. Life may throw challenges your way, but with being intentional about finding hope, community, and a little laughter, you can navigate through it all.Let’s hold on to hope together and embrace the journey of personal & spiritual growth. You’re not alone in this; we’re all in it together, cheering each other on!And hey, if you found this episode encouraging, please share it with a friend who might need a little hope today. Until next time, let’s conquer the day with God’s hope and keep blooming my beautiful friend! Before we wrap up, I’ve got a free gift for you...It’s called the SMRM Gratitude Love Move — and it’s my 6‑minute mind‑body reset that helps you shake off stress, re‑center your thoughts, and reconnect with God’s peace. Here’s the best part: once you grab it, I’ll also send you my follow‑up series with encouragement and tools to help you turn this into aSTART HERE IF YOU WANT MORE PEACE →✨ Love Moves (the book) — your starting point for the six-minute inside-out makeoverStart your inside-out makeover with Love Moves💌 The Monthly Pour — pour a little peace into your inbox each monthGet the Monthly Pour🌿 Try Love Moves: The 6-Minute Inside-Out Makeover — simple, guided practices to reset your nervous system and actually feel better in mind, body, and spiritTry a 6-minute Love Move✨ Join The Brim — where peace becomes a habit and you build your portable gym for your nervous system Join The Brim🔗 Explore more at Called & CuriousVisit Called and CuriousQuestions or hellos? Slurpees & Serenity: How to Trade Problems for Peace
Have you ever noticed how children sometimes worry about things that seem so silly to us? I found myself reflecting on this during a recent bike ride with my family. My son was anxious about something so important to him and it struck me how similar our worries are as adults. We often approach God with our anxieties, clutching them tightly like a child holding onto their favorite toy. But what if I told you that trusting God can help us find peace over our problems? Yes, it’s true! In this episode, I introduce a simple yet powerful framework I like to call the “Three Rs”: Release, Refocus, and Respond. These aren’t just catchy phrases; they’re practical steps that can guide us through life’s challenges and help us reshape our brains through neuroplasticity. Isn’t that amazing? 1. Release: Just like letting go of the handlebars on your bike, releasing our worries is the first step toward creating space for peace. When we surrender our anxieties to God, we open ourselves up to His comfort and grace. 2. Refocus: Next, we shift our focus from our problems to Jesus through worship, gratitude, and good questions. It’s incredible how a simple change in perspective can lift our spirits and lower our cortisol levels; cortisol is the stress hormone that contributes to killing the neurons in our brains and leaves us feeling down. Brain Hack: To help you refocus, use your favorite Love Move video or use the SMRM questions to worship, give gratitude, and let the questions help you refocus on Jesus and express love and gratitude. Remember, joy is a habit we can cultivate!Your 6-Minute Mind, Body, Soul Workout: LOVE MOVES: SMRM GRATITUDE3. Respond: Finally, how we choose to respond to our challenges can make all the difference. Good questions can direct our thoughts positively and empower us to tackle our worries with faith and confidence. We’ll explore how these steps can reshape our brain’s pathways, leading us toward a more peaceful and joyful life. It’s completely normal to struggle with trust and the act of releasing; we’re all in this together, navigating our paths with faith as our guide. So, whether you’re on a bike ride, you have a big problem, you’re in a wilderness season, or facing a big life decision, I hope you’ll join me in applying the Three Rs to find peace over your problems. Together, let’s embrace trust and gratitude, and remember that with God, we can find joy even amidst the challenges so we can enjoy the journey with Him.Don’t forget to subscribe and share this episode with your friends!
