Chicago Beer Pass: Sent With Lasers

In this beer review, Brad and Nik are opening Sent With Lasers, a Hazy IPA from Begyle Brewing. We've come to know Begyle for their stouts and easy drinking pale ales so a Hazy IPA is nice to see from them. Although this isn't a Hazy IPA that is going to make you switch from your previous favorite, it's nice to see them using some of those old school hop combinations to try and give us something different.

We've come to know Begyle for their stouts and easy drinking pale ales so a Hazy IPA is nice to see from them. Chicago Beer Pass: Atomic Child

On each episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White dive into some fresh Chicago beers, but that’s not all they end up drinking. There are always great beers getting made in and outside Chicago that are worth talking about. Recently Brad and Nik made it over the Forbidden Root brewpub for an interview, and afterward, they gave them 4-packs of their latest NEIPA Atomic Child to go. This juice bomb clocks in at 7.2% and radiates dank, tropical aromas. Being a brewery only release this might be a hard can for you to pick up but if you see a friend with one hiding in the fridge, check it out!

    CBP Bar Highlight: Loop Tavern

Brad and Nik continue their adventure of highlighting the Chicago bar scene around the city with a stop at Loop Tavern. Located at 1610 W Chicago Ave. just down the street from Forbidden Root. Loop Tavern is a slashie, looks like there is a theme happening on this bar highlights. They have a surprising number of beers on draft including Hamm's, which Nik instantly ordered one up. This is the kind of bar you should stop in after work to have a beer and to have a great conversation with the bartender or with one of the regulars.

CBP Bar Highlight: Miller's Tap & Liquor Store

Brad and Nik continue their adventure of highlighting the Chicago bar scene around the city with a stop at Miller's Tap & Liquor Store. Located at 2204 W Roscoe St. just down the street from Village Tap, which many craft beer fans have visited more than a few times. Miller's Tap is a slashie and it offers a surprising number of beers on draft. This is the kind of bar you should stop in after work to have a beer and to have a great conversation with the bartender or with one of the regulars.

On each episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White dive into some fresh Chicago beers but that’s not all they end up drinking. There are other great beers that are getting made outside of Chicago that they are often drinking and are worth exploring. In this video the guys are drinking Firestone Walker Brewing's Firestone Lager. As the weather warms up, this is going to be a great beach beer and will likely rival the Fist City from Revolution.

    CBP Bar Highlight: Beat Kitchen

Welcome to the first test of what Brad and Nik hope will become a regular and recurring feature; the Chicago bar highlight. In this first stop, the guys make a stop at Beat Kitchen located at 2100 W Belmont Ave. Since this is one of the first bars highlighted, please bear with us as we get some of our audio issues worked out.

Chicago Beer Pass: Founders Breakfast Stout

On each episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White dive into some fresh Chicago beers but that’s not all they end up drinking. Over the years they have both accumulated a lot of beers that can end up hanging out in their cellar for a while. With these random aged beers, you never know how they are holding up or if you even wanted to save it in the first place. In this video, Brad and Nik crack open a fresh bottle of Founders Breakfast Stout. This is often a beer that you'll find that you aged by mistake... we've all found those little bottles hidden in the back of the refrigerator. In this case it's really nice to visit this beer fresh and have it the way that Founders wanted you to.

Chicago Beer Pass: Back Forty Beer Co. Peanut Butter Porter

In this beer review, Brad and Nik crack open a can of Peanut Butter Porter from Back Forty Beer Co. Brad had picked up this beer when he was in Alabama over a year ago and it's been sitting in the refrigerator for awhile now. This isn't a beer you'd want to age but it's also true that you don't often find yourself wanting one after a long day of work and because of that it has just been hanging around. For being a year old, it did hold up rather well but seemed like a shadow of what it once was and I remember it being a bit better when I first had it a year ago.
