All Vinyl All The Time!
This episode is e n t i r e l y comprised of tracks played on vinyl. Wow, cool hey? Though every record is a true treasure, the especially precious records to pay attention to here are the 'Typical Girls' Vol. 1 & 2 compilations, released by Emotional Response. Here's what the Emotional Response website has to say about the comps: "There are no typical girls. Just remarkable women making remarkable music, as this compilation highlights. 16 of the greatest current female fronted independent punk and pop bands, from around the world." And perhaps it comes as NO surprise that I fully agree with this statement. Check the full comps out - they're good!

Music! Without! Borders!
THIS EPISODE focuses on music without borders - a small response to the ongoing and terrifying actions surrounding immigration and travel in America and Canada. Tracks played feature music by people who come from all around the world, music that I probably wouldn’t be able to hear, or perhaps wouldn’t exist at all, if it weren’t for immigration, celebration of difference, appreciation of other cultures and the desire to strive for a diversity of voices within the arts. Today is also Valentine’s day, and the 27th Annual Women’s Memorial March, which honour the lives of missing and murdered women and all women’s lives lost in the Downtown Eastside.

Welcome to my Home Suzanne Vega
It's 2017. Wonderful. Today's show with some quiet (ish) tracks by (mostly) Canadian artists, most notably a song by Faith Healer from the new "CiTR Fishbowl Sessions" from her live performance on the show in December of 2015. Also, a discovery of how great Suzanne Vega is (shout out to my mother's record collection which I become better acquainted with every time I go home).

Soft Light End 2 December
Sometimes the year ends with a bang. Other times, it's a lot slower. Today's show is the latter - soft, slow, light - but really nice. Maybe picking favourite tracks is bad, like picking favourite children? But if you HAD to listen to three songs from this show, they would be the ones by Weyes Blood, Shhh (extra points for an incredible band name) and Brave Radar.

Today's show features an interview with Cheryl Hann! You might recognize her as a comedian and previous member of Picnicface, or perhaps as a drummer for Heaven For Real or Old and Weird, but maybe you DIDN't know she is also an academic working on some really incredible things! In this interview we discuss her experiences as a comedian, how she learned to play the drums, the Heaven For Real tour, the music community in Halifax, and her master's thesis about The Diary of Anne Frank! Listen to the podcast if you want to learn about all of these cool things, and to hear me (Eleanor) laugh approximately every 30 seconds. It's a good one.
