DIABETES | Podcast with Rasesh Shah | Cognitive Cocktail EP-10

Diabetes is a chronic medical condition characterized by high levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It occurs when the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or can't effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels. Our guest on the podcast Dr. Tejas Shah is a Diabetologist in Mumbai and has an experience of 25 years in this field. Dr. Tejas Shah practices at Diabetes Care Clinic in Malad, Mumbai. He completed MBBS from University of Mumbai, Mumbai in 1995. He is a member of Medical Council of India (MCI). Diabetes is a chronic medical condition characterized by high levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It occurs when the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or can't effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels. There are three main types of diabetes: 1. Type 1 Diabetes: This is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. People with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin daily. 2. Type 2 Diabetes: This is the most common form of diabetes. It occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin. Type 2 diabetes is often associated with obesity and tends to be diagnosed in adults, although it is increasingly seen in younger people. 3. Gestational Diabetes: This type occurs during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth. However, women who have had gestational diabetes are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. #Symptoms of Diabetes - Increased thirst and urination - Extreme fatigue - Blurred vision - Unexplained weight loss (more common in type 1 diabetes) - Slow healing of wounds - Frequent infections #Risk Factors - Family history of diabetes - Overweight or obesity - Sedentary lifestyle - Poor diet - Age (risk increases with age) - High blood pressure and cholesterol levels - History of gestational diabetes #Management and Treatment - *Diet and Exercise*: A healthy diet and regular physical activity are crucial for managing diabetes and preventing complications. - *Medications*: Depending on the type of diabetes, medications may include insulin, oral hypoglycemic agents, or other drugs to manage blood sugar levels. - *Monitoring*: Regular blood sugar monitoring is essential to manage diabetes effectively. #Complications If not properly managed, diabetes can lead to serious complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, eye problems, nerve damage, and foot problems. #Prevention While type 1 diabetes can't be prevented, type 2 diabetes can often be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet, and engaging in regular physical activity. HOMEOPATHY - LIKE CURES LIKE | Podcast with Rasesh Shah | Cognitive Cocktail EP-09

About our guest - Dr. Rajesh Shah of Life Force Homeopathy. Dr. Rajesh Shah, M.D. (Hom.) practices in Mumbai, India. He is a medically trained homeopath who has studied homeopathy intensively for over three decades, since 1980. Dr. Rajesh is an internationally acclaimed physician, researcher, and teacher. He has conducted seminars and workshops for practitioners and students in England, Holland, Belgium, Czech Rep., Greece, Sweden, the U.S.A., Ireland, Croatia, Norway, Japan, India, etc. He has published over 30 research papers in international professional journals as a principal investigator, and he also holds about 15 US, Indian, and European patents for his newly introduced drugs. Shah has the uncommon strength of having a research base in his clinical environment. He has worked on many new therapeutic molecules; some have been granted patents, while others are pending international patents. He is a hardcore researcher + clinician + teacher + promoter of homeopathy. Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine founded in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on two primary principles: "like cures like" (the idea that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat similar symptoms in a sick person) and the "law of infinitesimals" (the belief that the more a substance is diluted, the more potent it becomes). Despite its long history, homeopathy remains controversial. Critics argue that its principles are not scientifically plausible, and numerous studies have found no substantial evidence that homeopathic treatments are more effective than placebos. Supporters, however, claim benefits from its use and emphasize its holistic approach. Looking at the future of homeopathy, several factors could influence its evolution: 1. Integration with Conventional Medicine: There is a possibility that elements of homeopathy could be integrated into conventional medicine, especially in areas focusing on patient- centered care and the placebo effect. 2. Research and Evidence: Ongoing research into homeopathy might provide clearer insights into its efficacy and mechanisms. Advances in scientific methodologies could either validate some aspects of homeopathy or conclusively debunk it. 3. Regulation and Standards: The future of homeopathy will be shaped by regulatory frameworks that govern its practice and the production of homeopathic remedies. Stricter regulations could improve the quality and safety of homeopathic treatments. 4. Technological Advances: New technologies, such as personalized medicine and AI, might influence homeopathy by providing tailored treatments and more accurate diagnostics, potentially increasing its appeal to a broader audience. 5. Public Perception and Demand: The popularity of homeopathy will likely continue to depend on public perception and demand. If more people seek natural and holistic treatments, homeopathy could see a resurgence. Overall, while homeopathy's status as "futuristic medicine" is debatable, its evolution will be influenced by scientific research, regulatory changes, technological advancements, and public interest. Here are the basics to help you get started: What Are Mutual Funds? Mutual funds pool money from multiple investors to buy a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities. Each investor owns shares representing a portion of the holdings of the fund. Types of Mutual Funds 1. Equity Funds: Invest primarily in stocks. They are categorized by the size of the companies they invest in (large-cap, mid-cap, small-cap) and their investment style (growth, value, or blend). 2. Bond Funds: Invest in bonds and other debt instruments. They aim to provide regular income with lower risk compared to equity funds. 3. Money Market Funds: Invest in short-term, high-quality investments issued by government and corporate entities. They are considered low-risk. 4. Balanced Funds: Invest in a mix of equities and bonds, aiming for a balance of income and capital appreciation. 5. Index Funds: Track a specific index (like the S&P 500) and aim to replicate its performance. 6. Sector Funds: Focus on specific sectors of the economy, such as technology, healthcare, or energy. ### Benefits of Mutual Funds - Diversification: Reduces risk by investing in a variety of assets. - Professional Management: Fund managers make investment decisions based on research and analysis. - Liquidity: Shares can be bought or sold on any business day. - Accessibility: Lower minimum investment requirements compared to individual securities. - Transparency: Regular updates on holdings and performance. ### How to Invest in Mutual Funds 1. Determine Your Investment Goals: Define your risk tolerance, time horizon, and financial objectives. 2. Choose the Right Type of Fund: Based on your goals, select funds that match your investment strategy. 3. Research Funds: Look at factors such as past performance, fees (expense ratio), fund manager's track record, and fund's portfolio composition. 4. Open an Account: You can invest through brokerage firms, mutual fund companies, or financial advisors. 5. Make Your Investment: Decide how much to invest initially and whether you want to set up automatic investments. 6. Monitor Your Investments: Regularly review fund performance and ensure it aligns with your goals.  @Cognitivecocktail  #podcast #trending #mutualfunds #hindi #money

Diamonds are Forever | Podcast with Rasesh Shah | Cognitive Cocktail EP-04

In this podcast, learn about how Lab-grown diamonds have gained popularity due to their ethical and environmental benefits, as well as their indistinguishable quality from natural diamonds. They offer consumers a sustainable and often more affordable alternative to mined diamonds, making them increasingly popular in the jewellery industry. Additionally, advancements in technology have improved their production processes, further driving their popularity. About Mehul Jain - Mehul Jain, the founder of Everbrite Jewellery, is no newcomer in the Gems and Jewellery industry. Having worked with some of the leading industry players in a plethora of roles, Mehul has spent nearly 15 years surrounded by the sparkle of diamonds. While most players were focusing on the existing US marketspace, Mehul concentrated his efforts on the Indian market, setting up Everbrite Jewellery (EB) in November 2020. Since inception Mehul was clear in his mind – he did not want to join the rat race and thus would avoid the low margin commodity business. His objective was to create a luxury brand of his own in the promising LGD category, one that the masses can resonate with. He opened a small boutique at Opera House to cater to individual consumers and understand their mindset. The choice of location itself is ironical as Panchratna building in Opera House was once the epicentre of Mumbai’s flourishing mined diamond trade before the business shifted to BDB. Panchratna still has offices of diamond merchants, but the scale has come down.
