Reviewing data from the Florida Chamber’s “Florida Scorecard”, she discovered that only 50% of 3rd graders in Volusia County were reading on or above grade level, and she knew instantly this presented an opportunity. A 2022 study conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau and researchers at Harvard University found that at age 26, nearly 70% of the population lives within the commuting zone in which they grew up.
