Bic Runga: the composers' champion
As well as being a national treasure, the singer-songwriter Bic Runga is a board member of APRA (the Australasian Performing Rights Association) representing the intellectual property rights of her fellow musicians. When music gets airplay, APRA sends a royalty cheque to the composer.
