The San Jose Barracuda (21-33-9-3) entered the third period on Thursday at the Acrisure Arena up by a goal but failed to hold the lead, falling 3-1 to the Coachella Valley Firebirds (41-14-5-4). Despite the loss, Georgi Romanov was outstanding, making 39 saves on 42 shots, and has now turned aside 86 of 91 in his last two games versus the first-place Firebirds.

In his AHL debut, Sharks 2022 first round pick Filip Bystedt notched a pair of goals and added an assist but the San Jose Barracuda (21-32-9-3) would fall 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena against the San Diego Gulls (24-31-8-0). In the first, the Gulls put the first five shots on net, and managed to grab momentum early. On their seventh shot of the period, Nathan Gaucher (10) would make it goals in his last four as he tipped in a Nick Wolff point-pull at 9:09. After Gaucher was called for tripping, the Barracuda managed to tie the score as Kyle Rau (7) tipped in a Danil Gushchin shot from the blue line. After the Gulls took their lead back on a Ben King (15) goal at 16:23, Scott Sabourin (17) managed to tie the score with just nine seconds left in the period as he ripped in a sharp-angle shot past Alex Stalock.

The San Jose Barracuda (21-32-9-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome and never looked back, downing the Calgary Wranglers (34-24-5-3), 4-1, behind 30 saves from Georgi Romanov. With the win, the Barracuda finished the year going 5-3 versus the Wranglers and 2-2 on the road. Danil Gushchin extended his point (2+6=8) and assist streak to six games as he finished with a pair of points (1+1=2) and now has 13 multi-point games this year. Ethan Cardwell also potted his 20th goal of the season, becoming the sixth rookie in the league to reach 20 goals this year, and the eighth freshman in franchise history to reach the 20-goal mark.

The San Jose Barracuda (20-30-9-2) scored three times on the power play and got 29 saves from Eetu Makiniemi en-route to 4-0 win against the Tucson Roadrunners (36-21-3-2) on Sunday afternoon at Tech CU Arena. In the victory, the Barracuda went on the man advantage a season-high nine times and the two clubs combined for 158 penalty minutes. Also a watermark for the season. Makiniemi’s shutout was his third of the year, seventh of this career, and second in his last five games. Tucson had not been shutout since Nov. 22 and it was just the third time in which they had not scored in a game this season.
