🎙 ALWAYS ANOTHER GAME

AAG was born over a decade ago yet the funny thing is I never knew it until recently. It was a term I used to bring myself back down after a poor performance or loss in Ice Hockey to help remind me that there is another game. I can’t dwell on the past I need to focus on the NOW and how that will help the FUTURE.Yet after retiring from the sport I loved, a lot of what made me mentally successful went out the window until one famous night.  I was highly stressed on this infamous day and my parenting tolerance had reached it’s peak, so without shouting I sent the boys to bed early before it had the chance to reach that point.Only to come downstairs full of guilt and shame that I was not at my best and this is not what I wanted to be as a parent. Then it hit me...We get to go again tomorrowHow can I be better for myself and my loved ones because that’s how I used to do things in my sporting careerI would look for solutions not excuses and that is when it hit me that all the skills I

Shaun Short - Performance Optimisation isn't just a skill

Why Performance Optimisation is more than just skills... Most people think success comes down to; 👉🏼 Focus your skills in one area 👉🏼 Work harder 👉🏼 Work More game over, right? ❌ Wrong High performers don’t just rely on skill They optimise their body, mind, and energy like a Formula 1 car Because at the highest level, skill gets you in the game but performance keeps you winning (and who doesn't love to keep winning) 🔥 If your nervous system is fried, your decision-making tanks 🔥 If your recovery sucks, your execution slows down 🔥 If your energy is drained, you’re leaving opportunities on the table That’s why in the Always Another Game Podcast Episode today, I break down what separates those who burn out from those who dominate long-term We go beyond tactics and I share the key reasons why I never reached my peak in Ice Hockey And how I use those losses to fuel my success today Peak performance isn’t just about knowing what to do It’s about having the energy, resilience, and clarity to do it at the highest level, every single time If you want to stop playing the game and start owning it, this is the episode for you     Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk

Teaching Athletes to Fill Their Mental Filing Cabinets   AAG is back with it’s first interview episode of 2025   And what better way to start than going inside the mind of someone who goes inside the athletes mind   Colin Booth and I have crossed paths recently in our Ice Hockey World   And he love and passion for his Athlete Neuro Performance is clear for everyone to see   Colin realised that X’s and O’s weren’t for him in the coaching space   And he wanted to figure out how one athlete could perform one task with ease yet another found it incredibly difficult   This work has led him to forming his own business MG1 Elite Performance   And now he gets to assists athletes improve their in game performance working on the finer details of their brain which returns an increase not only in their in play game but:   Resilience Decision Making Smarter Actions Curiosity   And arguably the most valuable   It keeps them away from society pressures of the online social and gaming world which is having a profound negative affect on young people’s brains   I know you’ve missed these   So, what are you waiting for?   Download the episode right now and catch up with our chat on your next break   Shaun     Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk

What if the cards are stacked against you?   because life is challenging and more often than not the odds are against us  So when it does get tough how do you manage those tricky times?   Back when I played there would be times that I would thrive against adveristy and other times when I would find it difficult   the biggest difference in these scenarios was that internal belief    Which is something I have dug deep on since i've finished playing    come and join me today as I share a story from a memorable game later on in my career   and lets take you internally to help you thrive when the cards are stacked against you   Shaun   Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk

Inside the mind of the one that goes inside the athlete’s mind   I used to think sports psychology was woowoo   I tried it once for a minute and wrote it off   Yet there is a reason why many professional sports now have their own highly skilled staff looking after their players mental well being   Because without it then you will never see a peak physical performance   And on today’s episode of Always Another Game Podcast I have the pleasure of talking to Manchester Storm Ice Hockey Club’s Well Being Consultant Liz Stewart   I broke a few of my own rules here today because Liz didn’t grow up with a sporting story   Yet she is involved in one of my core values of this podcast and that is supporting and looking after the well being on not just Ice Hockey Players but athletes   We discuss today the importance of the players having someone they trust they can talk to   And how priceless it is for a coach and organisation to have a person involved in your team getting the best out of your players   If you have every been interested in how your mental performance hugely affects your physical   Then you’re going to want to glide on over to hear what Liz has to say     Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk

I’ve never been a numbers guy…   The thought of any pressurised maths sends me into a bigger freeze state than Walt Disney   And many will argue and say that I need to get a handle on this   But in a team sport it doesn't matter if one player has scored 5 goals if you lose 8-5   You need the players who block shots, support you when you're down and bring the energy for the whole team just by how they show up   You see there are so many other ways to thrive away from numbers   Whether that is in your parenting Personal Development And Business   And I share my thoughts on this powerful Shaun Short episode on the Always Another Game Podcast today   Short and Sweet just like me…   Joining me?   Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk

Shaun Short - Play to Win or not to Lose?

This isn’t about England…     But watching the first two games got me thinking   We have the squad to go out and win games   But it feels like we’re playing not to lose   And It reminded me of an Ambitious Business Leader I worked with   Who thrived in Business   Yet was struggling with their health and knew there was something more to be done in this area     After a few weeks together I noticed something ground breaking that changed our whole perspective on the process   It's also a key reason why certain sport teams are successful   And this is what I’m covering in today’s Shaun Short Episode of Always Another Game   We discuss different drivers in our lives whether that be Optimistic or Cautious   And whether it's better to play to win or to avoid losing   All of these decisions can be the difference between success and failure   Lets kick off this episode by clicking to tune in   See you there     Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Website - www.thebehaviourchangecoach.co.uk Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/abbynoise/firestorm

Shaun Short - What is sport about?

What is it really all about? With sport comes a huge desire to win that many take on the 'whatever it takes approach even at a young age But surely there is more to it than just winning? Sure winning is important and in my opinion it is a key element of sport But surely their is a bigger picture of creating upstanding citizens who have used sport as a pathway to live the life they desire rather than seeing their life finish on the day they play their last ever game   Come and sit down with me as a share what sports has meant to me and how I see it now in the eyes of an athletes parent   Find me here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thebehaviourchangecoach/ or Here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaK2B2-yhQvAN9UN6d7Ikvw Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/abbynoise/firestorm
