10 Years of Pat Kenny

Our very first guest on the The Pat Kenny Show on Monday Sept 2nd 2013 was U2 Frontman Bono, who joined Pat to tell him about the work he was undertaking in Gana in Africa and spoke about plans for U2. 

The conditions of traveller accommodation were brought into sharp focus in 2015 after the Carrickmines tragedy in which 10 people dies and an unborn child. In November of that year, Pat went to investigate the conditions many travellers live in.

Abortion was one of the country's most controversial and divisive issues of the past decade.  Pat Kenny travelled to London and Manchester in November 2015 to gain an insight into the journey almost 4,000 Irish women took that year before abortion was legalised in Ireland. 

Legendary broadcaster Michael Parkinson talked through his extensive broadcasting career and his highs and lows with Pat in September 2015.

Deirdre Morley was found not guilty by reason of insanity after she took the lives of her three children. After the trial, Pat spoke to Hazel Catherine Larkin who shares her story of coming close to the abyss and having thoughts of killing her two young daughters during a period of extreme anxiety and depression. She told her story in May 2021.

Former US president Bill Clinton said down for an extensive interview with Pat in October 2018 where outlined some of his concerns about the direction politics was taking in the United States and internationally.  

Bob Geldof is unafraid of ruffling feathers and in this interview from March 2020 with Pat, he talked about the reforming of the Boomtown Rats and his enduring anger against social injustice.

In a special report, we went behind the walls of Mountjoy prison as it gets ready to reach its 170th year in operation. We spoke with prisoners, teachers, and those in charge of running Mountjoy about daily life, gang culture, drugs, and the tides of change in Ireland's most recognizable prison. This report aired on November 27th, 2019. 

Amber Barrett scored the goal which send the Irish women to their first-ever World Cup. The day after the Ireland v Scotland game (12th November 2022), Amber spoke to The Pat Kenny Show and as well as talking about the momentous sporting day she paid tribute to the victims of the Creeslough tragedy which had taken 10 lives just days before.
