With years of experience walking alongside those struggling with addiction and emotional trauma, Steve shares his insights on recognizing the signs of codependency and finding the path to emotional freedom.Understanding CodependencyCodependency is not just about addiction; it's an emotional condition where individuals derive their self-worth from others. Steve describes it as putting all your value into another person without considering your own needs. This often leads to unhealthy relationships, where one person feels responsible for the other's happiness. The Signs of CodependencyOver-identification with others: You feel your worth is tied to someone else’s approval.Neglecting self-care: Your needs come last as you prioritize others’ emotional states.Fear of abandonment: You go to great lengths to avoid being alone or rejected.Recognizing these signs is the first step towards healing. Steve emphasizes that many people don't realize they are codependent until they seek help. The Path to RecoveryRecovery from codependency is a gradual process that often begins with therapy. Steve recounts how a Christian counselor helped him uncover his codependent patterns and understand their roots in his childhood experiences. The Role of CounselingCounseling provides a safe space to explore underlying issues and identify harmful behaviors. Steve shares how understanding his past, including feelings of abandonment and emotional trauma, was crucial to breaking free from the cycle of codependency.Embracing Self-IdentityA pivotal moment in Steve's journey was learning to define his identity in Christ rather than through the lens of his relationships. This transformation allowed him to embrace his worth independently, fostering healthier relationships with others.Tools for Managing TriggersEven after recovery, triggers can resurface. Steve discusses practical tools for managing these moments, including self-awareness, prayer, and accountability. It's essential to recognize that recovery is ongoing, and coping strategies are vital.Cultivating Emotional AwarenessDeveloping emotional awareness helps individuals identify when they are slipping into old patterns. Do you feel your past is crippling your future?

Send us Fan MailBy Attune40 Editorial TeamIn a recent episode of our 40 Days of Reconciliation series, we had the privilege of sitting down with author and teacher Tom Anderson. His story isn't just about a change in behavior; it’s about a total 180-degree shift in identity—moving from a life dependent on "externals" to a life rooted in the finished work of Christ. If you’ve ever felt like your past is a weight you can’t shake, or that you’re constantly performing to keep others happy, Tom’s insights offer a path toward true rest.Breaking the Cycle of "Externals"Tom opened up about the early years of his marriage and career, describing a common trap: looking to things outside of ourselves to meet the deep-seated needs of our hearts."I was looking to my wife, Nancy, to make me feel good. Nancy was looking at me to make money... we look at these externals to tell us that we’re okay."For many of us, these externals are our "juice." If people like us, we feel energized. If they resist us, we shut down. Tom describes his former self as a "servant type" who used people-pleasing to manage his own anxiety. But God had a different plan—a shift from the outside in to the inside out."It Is Finished" – More Than Just ForgivenessWhen Jesus cried out "It is finished" on the cross, Tom believes He was declaring something profound about our restoration. Reconciliation isn't just about having our sins blotted out; it’s about the restoration of God’s image in us."He was talking about a whole lot more than forgiveness. He was talking about the restoration of God's image in me... Adam's problem was that he lost his connection with God. Jesus came to reconnect us."Tools for the JourneyHow does this look in daily life? Tom shared three pillars that sustain his walk:The Living Word: Moving beyond reading the Bible as a chore and seeing it as a "Meta-story" that helps us interpret our own lives.Vulnerable Community: Participating in small groups where "serious issues" and struggles are shared openly.Active Prayer: Treating prayer as the bedrock of the home, leading to a household marked by the peace of the Kingdom.A Challenge to Your ThinkingIf you feel like your past is crippling your future, Tom’s message is simple: You are God's beloved, in whom He is well pleased. Most of us live out of an "I don't measure up" mentality, but reconciliation means accepting that Christ has already caused us to measure up.Want to dive deeper? You can find Tom’s weekly writings on the Book of Jude and his books on Ephesians at tomanderson.in or on Amazon. As we continue these 40 Days of Reconciliation, let’s ask ourselves: Are we living to get "juice" from the outside, or are we resting in the love that has already been poured into our hearts? To listen to the full podcast and explore more resources, visit us at attune40.com.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Breakthrough Moments and God's Intervention

Send us Fan MailAn Interview with Tom Anderson (Segment II)Tom’s journey began with a realization of his own brokenness. Growing up with a father who struggled to express love—later discovered to be rooted in the trauma of being adopted and unloved himself—Tom found himself repeating those same patterns.Despite being "compliant" and "doing the right things," Tom realized eight years into his marriage that he and his wife, Nancy, were struggling to survive. Nancy was battling clinical depression, and their home was marked by a lack of emotional connection."The first time in my life, I saw that I was just like my father... and that broke me. I said, 'God, if you are real, do something.'"The breakthrough didn't come through a self-help book or a complex strategy. It came through a moment of desperate honesty on a Sunday afternoon. While playing cards, Tom felt a nudge to pray. As he did, a specific verse from Isaiah 43 poured out of him:"Consider not the former things, neither remember the things of old, for behold I do a new thing..."Within a month, the depression that had held Nancy for years finally broke. Tom reflects that God often moves by dropping a "word" into our lives—a promise we can hold onto when the circumstances look like the exact opposite.53 Years of Glory to GloryToday, Tom and Nancy are celebrating nearly 53 years of marriage. Remarkably, Tom notes that their relationship reached a new level of ease and depth just months ago. He attributes their lasting reconciliation to two key factors:Radical Honesty: Admitting when we are broken and need intervention. The Power of Two: Tom emphasizes that while large gatherings are wonderful, Jesus spoke specifically about the power of two or three agreeing. For 35 years, Tom and Nancy have prayed together daily, proving that consistent, small-scale communion is the foundation of a transformed life.As Tom reminds us, we don’t start with "too much glory," but as we walk with God, He leads us into a greater place of righteousness, peace, and joy.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

From Sinnership to Sonship: Discovering Our True Identity in God's Love

Send us Fan MailOn a recent episode of the Attune 40 podcast, as part of our second series focusing on the 40 Days of Reconciliation, we sat down with author Tom Anderson. His book, From Sinnership to Sonship, speaks directly to the heart of reconciliation by helping us discover who we truly are in God’s love.During our conversation, Tom broke down what it means to shed a deeply ingrained mindset of unworthiness and step into the engaging, purposeful relationship we were designed for. Here are the core takeaways from his transformative journey.Defining "Sinnership"What exactly does it mean to live in "sinnership"? According to Tom, it is the experience of living from a place where you constantly feel like you do not measure up.Tom shared vulnerably about his own background, explaining that he grew up feeling as though his father didn't like him, alongside a mother who was emotionally unexpressive. This environment fostered a deep sense of low self-esteem. Astonishingly, even after attending religious schools from grade school through college and engaging in church ministry, Tom spent about 40 years feeling like a "leper on the side of the road". He viewed himself as someone who always missed the mark, looking up at God from a place of perpetual inadequacy. The Paradigm ShiftTom's journey toward healing involved a moment of deep surrender about a month into his marriage, but a massive paradigm shift occurred roughly 10 to 12 years ago. While rewriting the book of Ephesians to better understand it, he noticed a pattern: the Apostle Paul continually references the relationship between the Father and the Son.This challenged a common, transactional view of faith. Too often, we perceive God's love as a transaction—we are needy, so God pities us and takes care of our needs. However, Tom realized that true love is found in the actual fellowship that the Father and the Son share.Stepping Into "Sonship"So, what does it mean to move into sonship?Modeled by Jesus: Sonship is defined by the relationship Jesus has with the Father—an engaging, purposeful, and vibrant connection.Rooted in Scripture: Tom pointed to Galatians 4:6, which reminds us that because we are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba, Father".A Position of Honor: Referencing the creation story in Genesis 1 and 2, Tom noted that when God created Adam and blessed him, the Hebrew word for bless (barak) translates to honoring him and giving him a position of authority. An Invitation to Fellowship: Through 1 Corinthians 1:9, we are reminded that God is faithful and has actively called us into the fellowship of His Son.Embracing the WonderMoving from sinnership to sonship completely changed Tom's perception of himself. He realized he was no longer the "leper on the side of the road" waiting for pity. Instead, he is a participant in God's passionate love.Tom likened this revelation to David’s words in Psalm 139. If someone were to express today that God couldn't get enough of them, they might be labeled a heretic. But David understood something profound about God’s love that didn't create pride, but rather a deep, humbling wonder. When we finally understand that we are the center of God's attention—not because of what we do, but because of who we are in Him—we can finally lay down our "sinnership" and embrace the beautiful reality of being fully loved.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

A Sacred Encounter: Dr. Laurette and Host Emmanuel on Finding the "Ark of Jesus"

Send us Fan MailIn a powerful new episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, Dr. Laurette and host Emmanuel dive deep into a spiritual exploration of our times. Comparing today's world to the Days of Noah, they share profound insights on salvation, the power of prayer, and the transformative practice of true worship. As It Was in the Days of NoahThe conversation begins with a reflection on Jesus’ words regarding the days of Noah. Dr. Laurette draws a beautiful parallel between the diverse colors of human skin and the "colors of the dirt" from which we were all created, emphasizing that regardless of our heritage, we are one human race."Men and women throughout the world... they're getting closer together and they're seeing that believers are coming together and forming families and not seeing the color of their skin."This coming together of believers is presented as a significant "sign of the times," signaling that we are returning to a spiritual state similar to that of Noah’s era.Building Your Spiritual ArkDr. Laurette challenges listeners with a vital question: "Are you building an ark for your family?". In this context, the Ark is not a physical vessel of wood, but Jesus Christ himself. The Ark as Safety: Jesus is the refuge where we want our families to be.Divine Protection: Just as God—not Noah—closed the door of the ark, our spiritual safety is ultimately in the Father's hands.A Prayer for DeliveranceFor those seeking the salvation of loved ones, Dr. Laurette shares a simple yet authoritative prayer based on the name of Jesus:"I take the name of Jesus and I break the power of the devil over [Person's Name]'s life. I claim their deliverance and then their full salvation in Jesus' name."She emphasizes that we should not beg God, as He desires their salvation even more than we do. Instead, we must pray with confidence, knowing that if we ask according to His will, He hears us and we already possess what we have asked for (1 John 5:14-15).Praise vs. Worship: The Vital DistinctionOne of the most enlightening parts of the discussion is the distinction between praise and worship:Praise: We praise the Lord for what He has done.Worship: We worship the Lord for who He is.Dr. Laurette invites everyone to "abandon" themselves in worship every day—whether in a car, a closet, or a back room. She notes that worshiping in the "beauty of His holiness" opens doors and creates opportunities that we cannot forge on our own.The Promise of ProvisionHost Emmanuel notes that being proactive in faith, much like Noah, helps us avoid "negligence" and spiritual laziness. Dr. Laurette concludes with a comforting promise for those who prioritize God:"No one has ever starved to death who has been worshiping the Lord... When you give your time to the Lord, watch how all those other things are suddenly taken care of."Listen to the full episode on Attune40.com to hear the complete discussion and the "Praise Moves" movement that Dr. Laurette leads.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

What’s the Most Fun Way to Exercise?

Send us Fan MailRunning to the Comforter — Inspired by Dr. Laurette WillsWhen you hear the question, “What’s the most fun way to exercise?” your mind might go to dancing, sports, or a walk with friends. And those are all wonderful. But what if the most fun—and most transformative—way to exercise is something deeper? What if it’s worship? When Exercise Becomes WorshipAccording to Dr. Laurette Wills, exercise doesn’t have to be separate from your spiritual life. In fact, it can become one of the most powerful expressions of it.Through PraiseMoves, she introduces a refreshing idea: combining physical movement with Scripture and praise. Instead of just counting reps or calories, you engage your whole being—body, mind, and spirit.Suddenly, exercise is no longer a chore. It becomes joyful, meaningful, and deeply refreshing. And that’s where the “fun” begins. Why Most Exercise Doesn’t LastLet’s be honest—many people struggle to stay consistent with exercise. Why?Because it often feels like:Pressure instead of pleasureObligation instead of inspirationRoutine instead of relationshipBut when movement becomes an act of worship, everything shifts. You’re no longer just trying to stay fit—you’re connecting with God.That connection brings joy. And joy makes consistency natural.Running to the Comforter (Not Comfort Food)One of the most practical insights Dr. Wills shares is this:Many times we run to comfort food instead of running to the Comforter. This applies not only to eating habits, but also to stress, anger, and emotional struggles. When pressure rises, we tend to look for quick relief. But there’s a better way.Instead of reacting impulsively, you can:PauseTurn to GodEngage with His WordMove your body in praiseThis simple shift transforms cravings into opportunities for connection.A Fun and Powerful TechniqueImagine this scenario:You feel a craving—food, frustration, or even anger rising.Instead of giving in immediately:You take a moment to breatheYou recall a ScriptureYou stretch, move, or hold a posture of praiseYou focus your mind on GodThis is where tools like Christian Meditation Kit come in—helping you anchor your thoughts in truth while your body participates in worship. What seemed like a moment of weakness becomes a moment of strength. And surprisingly… it becomes enjoyable. The Biblical FoundationThe Bible reminds us:“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable for me...”— 1 Corinthians 6:12Fun, in the truest sense, is not just about what feels good in the moment—it’s about what builds you up.When your exercise strengthens both your body and your spirit, that’s a deeper kind of joy. That’s lasting fulfillment. When God’s Power Takes OverHere’s the beautiful outcome of this approach:You’re no longer relying on willpower alone. As you engage with God’s Word and presence, His power begins to rise within you. The struggle lessens. The craving weakens. The burden lifts. You’re not just exercising—you’re being transformed.Follow ATTUNE40 for more insights on faith, transformation, and practical tools for everyday living.Referencesattune40.com [Dr Laurette Wills Podcast Interview on ATTUNE40]Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Discovering and Honoring God’s Gifts: Lessons from John McLernon

Send us Fan MailIn a recent conversation with Emmanuel Manishimwe, Coach Jon (Jonathan McLernon) shared profound insights on how we can recognize the gifts God has given us, steward them well, and ultimately use them to glorify Him. His reflections—shaped by hardship, faith, and personal transformation—offer a powerful perspective for anyone seeking purpose and meaning. How Do We Identify God’s Gifts? One of the most surprising truths Coach Jon shared is this: our gifts are often invisible to us. The very things that come naturally—what we do with ease, what feels like “second nature”—are often the clearest indicators of God’s gifting. Yet, because they come so effortlessly, we tend to overlook them. Instead, it is often others who recognize these gifts in us first. But beyond natural ability, life’s hardships play a critical role in revealing who we truly are.“You’re more likely to discover your gifts through the challenges and hardships life puts in your way.”Through moments of pain, loss, or struggle, something deeper is uncovered—resilience, compassion, courage, or the ability to serve others in meaningful ways. These experiences don’t just test us; they reveal what God has already placed within us.How Do We Glorify God with Our Gifts?Glorifying God is not limited to words—it is reflected in how we live. Coach Jon highlights the importance of humility rooted in reality: life is fragile, and our time is limited. This awareness is not meant to create fear, but perspective. It reminds us that:Our abilities are temporaryOur lives are finiteOur purpose is eternalRather than striving for recognition, we are called to daily surrender: “God, you’ve given me these gifts—how can I use them in service to you today?”True humility, he explains, is not hiding or diminishing ourselves. It is acknowledging that what we have comes from God and choosing to use it in a way that points back to Him.When we live this way, our lives themselves become a testimony—our actions, our character, and our service reflect God’s presence in us.The Power of ForgivenessOne of the most profound moments in the conversation came when Coach Jon spoke about forgiving those who had tried to take his life.Forgiveness, he explained, is not instant—it is a journey. After the attack, he struggled with anger and a desire for revenge. But over time, he came to realize that holding onto that anger was only harming him. “It’s like drinking poison and expecting it to hurt the other person.”True forgiveness required a shift in perspective. Instead of focusing solely on the harm done to him, he began to ask: What led these individuals to such actions? This didn’t excuse their behavior—but it opened the door to compassion. Ultimately, forgiveness meant releasing judgment and entrusting it to God: “I cannot judge you righteously… so I commit you to God’s judgment.” This act of surrender freed him from the burden of bitterness and allowed healing to begin.Wisdom for Life and TravelDrawing from his global experiences, Coach Jon also reflected on the beauty of shared humanity. Despite the presence of hardship and evil in the world, there is also immense goodness. Travel, he noted, can open our eyes to this truth—reminding us that beneath our differences, we are deeply alike. His practical advice includes:Don’t assume danger can’t happen—stay awareTake wise precautionsLive modestly and respectfully in unfamiliar placesBuild connections with Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Unlocking Potential Through Reconciliation: Insights from Jonathan McLernon

Send us Fan MailIntroduction:In the latest episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, Coach Jon shares his transformative journey toward reconciliation and self-discovery. Drawing from personal experiences, he reveals how challenges can lead to profound growth and understanding of one’s true potential.Understanding the Role of a Coach:Coach Jon identifies himself as a facilitator who helps individuals unlock their inherent potential. He relates this to the biblical character Daniel, who served as an advisor to royalty. According to Jon, everyone possesses unique gifts, but often, these gifts go unrecognized until someone helps illuminate them. He emphasizes the importance of empathy, noting that his ability to read and understand emotional cues stems from his deep sensitivity to the feelings of others. The Journey of Reconciliation:Jon shares a pivotal moment from his life when he faced a violent attack while working in South Africa. This traumatic experience forced him to confront deep-seated questions about his identity, faith, and relationship with God. He describes how he initially felt abandoned and ashamed, creating a distance between himself and his faith. However, through reconciliation, he found a way back to God, understanding that his struggles were part of a larger journey toward self-acceptance and healing.Learning from Trauma:Reflecting on his traumatic experience, Coach Jon expresses that hardships can lead to personal growth. He asserts that it is through our struggles that we discover our true selves and the nature of God. His near-death experience served as a wake-up call, prompting him to reassess what truly mattered in his life. Jon emphasizes that every painful moment contributes to our understanding and connection with others, highlighting the importance of sharing our experiences to foster connection and empathy. The Brain and Spirituality:Coach Jon dives into the intersection of psychology and spirituality, discussing how our brains are wired to respond to challenges and how this can lead to feelings of laziness or avoidance. He argues that what often appears as laziness is actually weariness, stemming from an overwhelming sense of purpose and expectation. By recognizing this, individuals can cultivate a healthier relationship with themselves and their spirituality.Compassionate Awareness:One of the key takeaways from Coach Jon’s insights is the concept of compassionate awareness. He suggests that understanding our struggles without judgment allows for transformational change. Instead of feeling shame for our mistakes, we should acknowledge our humanity and seek support in overcoming our challenges. Using biblical examples, he illustrates how Jesus approached individuals with compassion, offering healing and understanding rather than condemnation. Conclusion:Coach Jon’s journey highlights the importance of reconciliation—not only with God but also with ourselves. By embracing our struggles and seeking to understand the deeper reasons behind our behaviors, we can unlock our potential and live more fulfilling lives. Key takeaways include the transformative power of hardship, the importance of compassionate awareness, and the necessity of rebuilding our relationship with faith.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

The Intersection of Brain Science and Faith: An Interview with Professor Angela Deulen

Send us Fan MailIntroductionIn a world that often feels chaotic and overwhelming, many individuals seek transformation in their spiritual lives. In a recent episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, Professor Angela Deulen shared her insights. She is a psychology professor at California Baptist University. She discussed the powerful connection between our brains and our spiritual experiences. This post delves into her enlightening discussion. It offers valuable takeaways for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of transformation in the context of faith.Understanding Transformation: The Role of NeuroplasticityOne of the key concepts discussed by Dr. Deulen is neuroplasticity, which refers to the brain’s remarkable ability to change and adapt. She explained that our brains are not fixed; rather, they can be reshaped through our experiences and choices. She gave an example comparing neural pathways to muscles. Just as muscles become stronger through consistent use, neural pathways in our brains strengthen with repetition. When we focus on spiritual disciplines, such as prayer and meditation, we stimulate the brain. This stimulation aligns with God’s intentions. The Importance of Renewing the MindDr. Deulen emphasized the significance of Romans 12, which calls for believers to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. She highlighted that accepting Christ brings the Holy Spirit into our lives. However, it does not automatically remove worldly influences or sin. Instead, individuals must actively participate in renewing their minds through obedience to God’s word. This can be challenging, especially when faced with difficulties, but it is essential for spiritual growth.Navigating Feelings and Spiritual AwarenessA common struggle among believers is the feeling of disconnect from the Holy Spirit. Dr. Deulen noted that our society is heavily influenced by emotions, which can cloud our spiritual awareness. She likened this to a noisy environment that makes it difficult to hear the subtle presence of the Holy Spirit. We can quiet our minds by engaging in practices, such as prayer and reflection. These practices nourish our brains. As a result, we enhance our ability to recognize the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. The Challenge of Sin and TransformationAddressing the issue of sin, Dr. Deulen explained that acknowledging and confessing our sins is a crucial part of the transformation process. Many individuals prefer to avoid confronting their sins, opting instead for superficial displays of spirituality. However, true transformation requires vulnerability and the willingness to do hard things, such as confessing and repenting. This not only strengthens our connection to God but also enhances the health of our brains. Conclusion: Key TakeawaysDr. Angela Deulen’s insights offer profound guidance for those seeking transformation in their spiritual lives. By understanding the brain’s capacity for change, we can cultivate a deeper connection to our faith. It’s important to renew our minds. To experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit, we must engage in spiritual disciplines. We should confront sin and allow ourselves to be transformed by God’s word.Link to Angela’s podcast: https://www.angeladeulen.com/Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Awakening Faith with Kari Hunnicutt

Send us Fan MailWith Kari HunnicuttIn today's fast-paced world, many individuals find their faith in God drifting into a state of dormancy. In a recent episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, author Kari Hunnicutt explores the idea of "dormant faith." She goes deeply into this concept. She shares her insights on how to reignite that passion for a thriving relationship with God.Kari Hunnicutt describes dormant faith as a belief that exists but is not fully engaged. It is not about rejecting God, but rather a state where the relationship has grown quiet. Many believers find themselves in this scenario, knowing the truth but no longer actively seeking intimacy with God. Kari emphasizes that when engagement fades, obedience often follows. This disconnect can lead to a sense of complacency in one’s spiritual walk.Hunnicutt highlights the Great Commission. It is the final commandment of Jesus to his disciples. He urged them to make disciples of all nations. Many are familiar with this command. However, a survey she conducted revealed that nearly half of the respondents felt ineffective. They felt disobedient in their efforts to live it out. Many hesitated due to fear of rejection. Others had a private approach to faith. Feeling unprepared was also common. Some were simply too busy. This gap between belief and action is where dormant faith often lives. The church serves as an essential institution designed to bring believers together. Kari underscores the importance of community in maintaining and strengthening one’s faith. When individuals feel isolated, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay committed to their spiritual journey. Disconnection from their church community also contributes to this difficulty. Encouragement, accountability, and support from fellow believers are crucial in keeping faith alive.Kari shares her personal journey of faith, illustrating that it is a continuous process of transformation and growth. Engaging in a relationship with God requires effort, much like nurturing a friendship. The more priority one gives to their relationship with God, the stronger that connection becomes. Kari states, "God doesn't need our performance. He just wants our presence."Many believers may recognize their dormant faith when they label themselves as "lukewarm." Awake and Reconcile

Send us Fan MailLet me introduce the new book, Awake and Reconcile. It is now available on Amazon. I have published it by the grace of God. It combines Discerning the Times, first published in 2013, and the 40 Days of Reconciliation, published in 2014.The 40 Days of Reconciliation had never been on Amazon. I had to update the Designing the Times. From the 40 Days of Reconciliation journey, I decided to merge the two books into one titled 'Awake and Reconcile.' It's now on Amazon. You can purchase a paperback copy at $35 or a kindle of version at $10.If you would like to support the podcast then please Go to Amazon and buy this book. Part of this income directly supports the podcast ministry. The podcast is usually free. So the books are deliberately on sale to raise funds to support the podcasting ministry. Maybe I need to tell you a little bit about the podcasting ministry, why it needs to be sustained. It communicates to God's people wherever they are worldwide. We can't travel to where they are to share the good news of the gospel and encouragement. They can now listen to the podcast from wherever they are. This is how we will help people to recognize the true God who loves them. These podcasts have the potential to save somebody who is lost and refresh someone in need of encouragement. One way to support is to buy a copy of this book. You can also buy more to give out as gifts. Alternatively, donate them to students in your community or institution. This book, Awake and Reconcile, talks about God's patience, curses and blessings. This is not to scare anyone. It is just to help us know that there is a consequence for our conduct. If we obey, obviously, as the scripture says, we shall be blessed. But if we continue to disobey, we shall reap the fruits of what we saw. There's no compromise on that. There's no need to confuse ourselves over that. It's very clear. We are supposed to be ambassadors of light wherever we are. And that's why this message of reconciliation continues to come. Many populations continue to witness the deterioration of social relationships. The body of Christ is called to set an example through our conduct. We are supposed to love the way the Lord Jesus loved. We don't need to fight for our own interests or cause divisions. We should not hate or dislike people with different opinions from ours. So that's why the message of reconciliation is very strong at this point. It's needed worldwide.Without Christ, issues will be strong and bigger, causing more reasons to hate, dislike or avoid. But the love of God is a healing power. It works when we allow it to transcend in our hearts. I have never seen anywhere else where the love of God transforms individuals like in the body of Christ. He teaches us to love everyone, including those who are hard to love. The book teaches us to seek Christ, reconcile with Him and learn to love His people and bear fruit.Unlimited AccessAmazon has enabled trial reading for 90 days. You can take this opportunity and read now before that time elapses. You can go to amazon.com, and search for the book 'Awake and Reconcile'. Ward shared a striking statistic. Three out of four teenagers will try some form of an addictive substance. This alarming trend highlights the need for proactive measures to address the issue before it escalates.Proactive Parenting StrategiesOne of the core messages from Ward’s discussion is the importance of proactive parenting. He introduces the PACE framework designed to help parents navigate the challenges of raising teenagers. PACE stands for Preparation, Awareness, Connection, Education, and Steps. Each component is essential in equipping parents to effectively support their children:Preparation: Parents must be ready for the changes that come with adolescence. They need to understand that their children will face new challenges and temptations.Awareness: Being aware of a child's social circles and emotional state is crucial. Parents should know if their children are exposed to drugs or alcohol. They should also be attentive to signs of anxiety or depression.Connection: As children grow, maintaining a connection becomes more challenging. Ward emphasizes the need for empathy and open communication, urging parents to listen more and scold less.Education: Parents should seek resources to better understand the nuances of teenage behavior and addiction. Steps Ministries offers tools and information to aid in this process.Steps: Having a plan in place before problems arise is vital. This plan should outline how parents intend to support their children through life's challenges.Key TakeawaysSteve Ward’s insights on addiction and parenting highlight the importance of early intervention and proactive measures.

Purpose-Driven Leadership: Bridging Faith and Strategy for Lasting Impact

Send us Fan MailIntroductionIn a world where leadership can often feel disconnected from personal values, Dr. Michael Wright sheds light on the importance of purpose-driven leadership. With decades of experience as a Christian leadership expert and executive coach, Dr. Wright offers insights on how to harmonize faith with effective business strategies, creating meaningful change within organizations.Understanding Purpose-Driven LeadershipAt the heart of purpose-driven leadership is the notion of serving a higher purpose. Dr. Wright emphasizes that effective leadership transcends individual roles and responsibilities. For instance, he shares his experience as the head of a finance department. His role extends beyond immediate tasks to encompass the wider community. This perspective encourages leaders to work with dignity and respect, regardless of the diverse beliefs existing in their teams.Aligning Faith with Business StrategiesMany leaders struggle to integrate their spiritual beliefs with the demands of their roles. Dr. Wright offers a straightforward approach: Be who you say you are. This means embodying your faith consistently, regardless of the workplace environment. He points out that true leadership mirrors the principles established by Jesus. Jesus interacted with his disciples not by force, but through mentorship and friendship. Dr. Wright illustrates this with two contrasting examples of leadership styles: one reactive and panic-driven, and the other calm and reassuring. The latter demonstrates how a strong foundation in faith fosters a positive and stable workplace atmosphere.Fostering Reconciliation in the WorkplaceDr. Wright emphasizes the importance of addressing conflicts within organizations to build a healthy culture. By understanding the underlying causes of disputes, leaders can ease conversations that promote healing and collaboration. He shares an example of two colleagues with a long history of tension. This highlights the necessity of patience. Gentle correction is also essential in resolving conflicts. This approach not only mends relationships but also allows for the creation of a cohesive team environment.Taking Action on Your CallingTransitioning from feeling called to making an impact requires actionable steps. Dr. Wright encourages leaders to acknowledge their calling without hesitation. He stresses the importance of stepping out in faith. He recalls biblical examples where figures, like Simon Peter, followed Jesus without delay. Additionally, he addresses concerns about lacking resources. He reassures leaders that God equips them with the necessary tools and support to fulfill their calling.ConclusionDr. Michael Wright's insights on purpose-driven leadership offer a roadway for integrating faith with strategic leadership practices. Leaders can create lasting change by serving a higher purpose. They foster reconciliation and take bold steps toward their calling. This change happens in their organizations and communities. Key takeaways include the importance of embodying one's beliefs consistently. It is also crucial to tackle workplace conflicts with empathy. Recognizing the resources available to support one's mission is essential.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Mastering Timekeeping for Success

Send us Fan MailNothing really bores me like poor time management. In my part of the world, where I come from, poor time keeping is a normal practice. But this is not for all. There are some people who are really transforming. Interestingly, some of these people are older individuals. They live in less urban areas. We never expected them to challenge us in the 21st century about time management.I used to be great on time management, having learned from a British mentor in my youth career. When we separated because of a change in work environments, I began a new trend. I kept time mostly in my mind. There's a difference between being on time and arriving early. Most of us practice arriving early but yet 'too late'. Let me explain. When does an event starting 4:00 PM on a specific date really start? For the organizers, planning can start a year earlier. This depends on the category. This is true even when an event lasts for only one hour. In some societies, people start thinking at 4 PM including the author of the event. That can be a boring event to attend! What's your experience?I launched my podcasting journey in November 2025. Since then, I am re-energizing my time-keeping professionalism. This ensures that I don't make anyone feel bored on shows I host. That applies to all aspects of my life. Time keeping is a rewarding discipline.Time-keeping alone is not enough without a sense of stewardship. A friend of mine is a professor of physics at the University of California. He taught this to me without knowing he was doing so. Translating that lesson into my podcasting life, I realized something important. A virtual event during the day can cause me to cancel multiple other appointments. It even leads to poor results. Why not run the event first thing in the morning? This approach can save a lot of time. That involves more planning, but will yield a greater experience and results.Time keeping is a management aspect as well. It involves fulfilling your promises to your team and clients. That's what determines leadership excellence and maturity. Do you work alone to beat deadlines or do you motivate your team to reach those deadlines? Let me see your comments on that!Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

How Do We Build a Relationship with God? Faith Insights with David Libby

Send us Fan MailMr. David Libby is an ordained elder with wonderful experience in missions. He wrote the the book; A Different World, God's Sovereignty in the Face of Suffering. In its biography he said, "For years I served in the church, first as a deacon and then as an elder. I have long been a self-taught student of theology and philosophy. I have learned all the correct answers to some of the most difficult questions and can hold my own as a Christian apologist and theologian. But when my family's health fell apart, I discovered something that the books do not teach. That there is a sharp disconnect between an encyclopedia of head knowledge and an application of that knowledge in the muddy and bloody trenches."In many instances, people often struggle to put what they learn into practice. David emphasizes that learning is important. "Learning should lead to transformation. But why is it so difficult to put into practice what we learn? I think theory is always easier than practice. It's always easier to learn about something than to actually do it. And when we're talking about things like theology, it kind of complicates the matter more because the thing that we're putting into practice is such a high calling, such a difficult thing. There are a lot of things in scripture that are hard, hard sayings, like Matthew chapter 10 where the Lord told us to expect persecution and to be willing to take up our crosses and follow Him, which means be willing to follow Him to death. And it's easy to learn about these things. It's much harder to live them. But we serve a God who, if we are willing to live them, He will enable us. He will give us the strength that we need."On how relevant Theological Studies or Philosophy is to Strengthening Personal Faith, David thinks that theological studies are necessary for strengthening personal faith because faith is only as valuable as the object in which it is placed. "You know, we can have faith on all kinds of very wrong things. Everybody has faith. The atheist has faith. So the object of our faith has to be the the true and living God, the God who really is. Faith has to lead to a relationship with Him. We can't have a relationship with somebody we don't know, somebody we know nothing about. I'm not saying everybody has to be a deep scholar, by any means, but we all need to know who this God is. We all need to read scripture. That's what theology is. Theology is a big fancy word for reading the Bible and and learning what it teaches about God. So we all need that. We all need, in order to have a relationship with the true God, to know who He is as revealed in His Word."Rather than quit, illness and suffering in David's home helped him see the truth about faith in practice."One thing that would hinder people would be unbelief. We read about things in the Bible where people were facing difficult trials that seemed utterly impossible, like when Moses and Israelites in the Exodus were pinned down against the Red Sea with the Egyptian army behind them. Instead of turning to God in faith, they grumbled and complained. "He led us out here to kill us, and we can't possibly defeat this Egyptian army." They complained. But the truth is, God led them to that place deliberately so that they could see his hand at work in delivering them. We need to know our God and trust in Him. That can be difficult, but if we look back at what He's done in the past, in our lives and in Scripture, then we can see that He really is a God who is Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Navigating the Strangers' Conflict: Insights from Brad Church's Journey of Faith

Send us Fan MailIntroductionIn a world filled with distractions and temptations, many believers find themselves wrestling with their faith. In a recent podcast, Emmanuel Manishimwe speaks with writer and podcaster Brad Church about his book, "The Strangers' Conflict," and the struggles that Christians face in their walk with God.Understanding the Strangers' ConflictBrad Church, who came to faith at the tender age of six, shares his journey of faith and the challenges that led him to write his book. He details how, despite growing up in a Christian household, he struggled with his faith during his teenage years due to a lack of grounding in scripture and real-life examples of faith around him. Brad emphasizes that the lure of worldly recognition and material wealth often pulls believers away from their spiritual path. His own questions about faith and the struggle to maintain a relationship with God prompted him to delve deeper into scripture, seeking answers that he believed could resonate with others facing similar dilemmas. The Origin of the Title: "The Strangers' Conflict" speaks to the experience of believers feeling like outsiders in this world. Brad explains that the title is inspired by scripture, particularly Hebrews 11 and Paul’s writings in Philippians, which remind us that as believers, we are citizens of heaven and thus strangers on earth. This perspective frames the conflict believers face as they navigate their spiritual journey in a society often at odds with their values.Experiencing Distant Relationships with GodChurch candidly discusses moments in his life where he felt distant from God, drawing parallels to the parable of the prodigal son. He reflects on how he once wandered far from God, only to discover that the path back is always open. This resonates with listeners who may feel lost, reminding them that God is always waiting for their return, regardless of how far they have strayed.Understanding Inner ConflictAt the core of the strangers' conflict is the duality of human nature—our physical and spiritual selves. Brad elaborates on the Genesis account of creation, explaining how each person is created with both a physical body and a spiritual essence. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, humanity lost its intimate connection with Him, resulting in an ongoing struggle between the desires of the flesh and the call of the Spirit. This inner turmoil is universal among believers, as they contend with their sin nature while striving for spiritual growth.Finding Solutions to the ConflictWhile Brad acknowledges that believers will never completely silence this inner conflict, he offers practical steps to help manage it. He encourages listeners to strengthen their spiritual lives through practices such as prayer, worship, studying scripture, and fellowship with other believers. These activities create space for the Holy Spirit to work in their lives, guiding them toward righteousness.Key TakeawaysBrad Church’s insights remind us that the journey of faith is filled with challenges, but it is also a path of growth and understanding. The struggles we face do not separate us from God; rather, they provide opportunities for deeper connection and reliance on His grace. As we navigate our own strangers' conflicts, we can find comfort in knowing that we are not alone, and that God is always ready to welcome us back.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

A Conversation on Everyday Discipleship with Debra Mcninch

Send us Fan MailFeaturing Debra McNich, Founder of Battle Cry MomsBeing a Christian in today's world isn't always easy. As Debra McNich, founder of Battle Cry Moms, jokes, it can sometimes feel like a medicine commercial: we focus on the healing, but we often forget to read the warning label about the side effects. The world can be dark, and the opposition can be real. But as believers, we are called to be a city on a hill—a light that cannot be hidden. In a recent episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, Emmanuel Manishimwe sat down with Debra to demystify one of the most intimidating words in the Christian vocabulary: Discipleship. If you have ever felt unqualified to disciple others or worried that you need a theology degree to share your faith, this message is for you.Discipleship is Simpler Than You ThinkWe often complicate discipleship. We view it as a structured, burdensome program that requires expert knowledge. But Debra offers a liberating definition: "It’s a fancy word that just means to tell somebody about what God is telling you".Discipleship isn't about having a perfect curriculum; it is about "doing life" with someone. It happens when you fold laundry together, do the dishes, or cook supper while sharing how you rely on the Lord to guide you. It is as simple as reading a Bible verse in the morning and saying to a friend, "Hey, I read this today, and I wanted to share it with you".You Cannot Give What You Do Not HaveTo be a discipler, you must first be a disciple. The cycle of faith works like this: We spend time in His presence, He teaches us, and then we go and tell others.Debra emphasizes that we cannot rely on past experiences alone. "We leak," she reminds us. We have holes. We must wake up every morning and ask God to fill us afresh with His Spirit so that we can overflow into the lives of others. If you want to disciple others effectively:Get in the Secret Place: Spend time in the Word and prayer daily.Don’t Walk Alone: God is with you to correct and guide you, even when you make mistakes.Know the Word: You don't need a degree, but you need to know Jesus. Spend six months reading the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) until you can articulate who He is.Discipleship Starts at HomeThe most critical mission field is often under our own roof. Debra challenges parents to "get in the game." We cannot rely solely on the church to train our children. If a child attends Sunday school once a week, that is only 52 hours of training a year. Who is discipling them during the thousands of other hours? It is the parents' job to plant seeds. But discipleship in the family works in all directions:Children Discipling Parents: Often, children find the Lord and bring that light home, leading to the salvation of the whole family.Wives Discipling Husbands: For wives with unbelieving husbands, Debra advises against nagging. Instead, let them see the change in your life. Your life might be the only Bible they read. Eventually, the kindness of the Lord, displayed through your transformation, leads to repentance.Overcoming the Fear of "The Experts"A common lie from the enemy is that witnessing is the job of pastors, evangelists, or "experts". This is not biblical. The Great Commission was a command for all of us to go and make disciples.Whether your sphere Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    God Created Me Pure

Send us Fan MailIntroductionThe purpose of the 40 Days of Reconciliation journey is to help us understand the need to reconcile with God, His people and awakening the heart of responsibility for His Creation, which is also a sign for our own transformation. You can take a lesson per day or one lesson a week. Please note that you can take this journey as an individual, family, Church, or corporate during devotions or breakfast meetings.  God's Perfect Relationship with HumanityBefore there was noise, there was harmony. Before there was shame, there was purity. After God had spoken the world into existence, His final and most intimate creation was humankind. We were made in His very image, a perfect reflection of His love and creativity. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:15, NIV)This was our original blueprint: a life of purpose, honor, and unlimited fellowship with God. He blessed humanity and placed them in the garden of abundance with a single purpose: to tend and keep it. Imagine walking with your Creator in the cool of the day, living in perfect trust, breathing in unison with the Source of all life. This fellowship was the inheritance meant for us.But with great freedom comes a great choice. God’s only instruction was a boundary of love, designed for our protection and built on trust. This is where the fracture began. The serpent, the embodiment of Satan, did not arrive with a roar but with a whisper: “Has God indeed said…?” (Genesis 3:1). This question is the oldest temptation in the world, and it still echoes in our lives today, inviting us to doubt God’s goodness. Adam and Eve chose to entertain that doubt, and in doing so, allowed a foreign desire to take root: to be like God, choosing their own understanding over His wisdom. In an instant, everything changed. Their eyes were opened not to glorious divinity, but to their own vulnerability and nakedness. An economy of shame was born. Where there was once innocent freedom, there was now a desperate need to hide, to cover, and to perform. The true tragedy was not their nakedness, but their next action. When they heard the familiar sound of God walking in the garden—a sound that once brought them joy—they did not run to Him. They ran from Him. They hid.The perfect relationship was broken. The distance they created by hiding from God became the source of all human suffering. This is the moment the need for reconciliation was born. It is the story of how we lost our way, and it is the starting point for our journey back home.Question for ReflectionWhen have you, like Adam and Eve, "hidden" from God or others after making a mistake? Action StepFind a quiet place, preferably outdoors. Spend a few minutes simply reflecting on the idea of "walking with God" in harmony, without any shame or fear.Prayer PromptDear God, thank you for designing me for perfect harmony and fellowship with You. I confess that, like Adam and Eve, my instinct is often to hide in my shame when I make a mistake. As I begin this journey, quiet the voice of doubt and help me hear Your loving call to come out of hiding. Teach me to run to You, not from You. Amen.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Seeking the Bridegroom: An Interview with Author Mark Wood

Send us Fan MailIn a recent episode of the 40 Days of Reconciliation podcast, host Emmanuel Manishimwe sat down with Texan author Mark Wood to discuss his deeply theological book, The Bride, The Wise Virgins and The Last Adam: The Greatest Love Story No One Knows. Wood shared a gripping personal journey from running away from his faith to a radical reconciliation with God, offering a sobering look at the urgency of the times we live in.A Journey Through Fire and FaithMark Wood’s path to authorship was anything but conventional. Despite being raised in the church by a "very charismatic" pastor grandfather, Wood spent decades running in the opposite direction. His turning point came through a series of intense, often supernatural trials:Spiritual Warfare: In 2005, Wood experienced physical manifestations of demonic attacks in his home that drove him to seek God’s voice. The Voice of the Spirit: While opening his Bible, he heard the Holy Spirit tell him to keep his heart "steadfast on Jesus," marking the true beginning of his spiritual journey.A Brush with Mortality: A 2017 cancer diagnosis and the occurrence of Hurricane Harvey created a "deep fear of dying without knowing God," pushing him to study the scriptures for three days a week. The Mystery of the BrideThe core of Wood’s work revolves around the Rapture—the "snatching away" of the Church—and the specific identity of "The Bride". Wood challenges the common assumption that all who identify as Christian will be part of this event:The One in Seven: Analyzing the seven churches in Revelation, Wood notes that only the Church of Philadelphia is promised to escape the "Hour of Temptation".Defining the Bride: He points to Mark 16:15-18 and the Church of Acts as the blueprint for the Bride, characterized by preaching the gospel, baptism, and signs following those who believe. The Trap of Idolatry: Wood warns that modern distractions—like social media or even loving one's spouse more than God—act as "lifestyle traps" that drain a believer's spiritual oil.Urgency and the "Harvest Time"Wood emphasizes that we are living in a prophetic "harvest time". He uses a variety of biblical timelines to suggest that the end of the current age is near:The Budding Fig Tree: He identifies the rebirth of Israel in 1948 as the "budding of the fig tree," signaling that the generation witnessing this event will see all things fulfilled. The 2033/2040 Timelines: Based on the concept of "one day is as a thousand years," Wood discusses the significance of 2,000 years (two "days" on God’s calendar) since the crucifixion, pointing toward potential milestones in 2033 and 2040."The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom... if we don’t fear God, we’re going to lean towards disobedience in our lives."A Call to ActionUltimately, Wood’s message is one of preparation and intentionality. He urges believers to move beyond casual reading to intentional Bible study, which he calls the "foundation of faith".For those interested in supporting a cause, Wood has dedicated half of the proceeds from his book to Be’ad Chaim, an Israeli charity providing abortion counseling and support.Find the Book: Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Belonging

Send us Fan MailCongratulations! We've come to the 40th day in the 40 Days of Reconciliation, which is Day 4 in the Family Leadership Series. Glory to God. Let us start by thanking God.Father, thank You so much for helping us go through these 40 days of reconciliation. Even me who has been leading this series, I will never remain the same. Lord, I hope You've transformed people in their thinking. I hope You've encouraged those who were already strong. Lord, I hope that the weak have been made strong by You. It's only You who can make them strong. These series only bring us to You; they show us who You are. Lord, may You reign in our hearts. May You continue to identify with us even as we go through the final topic. In the name of Jesus, Amen.Today our final topic in the 40 Days of Reconciliation is Belonging. Just that—belonging. Then we have another scripture from 2 Samuel 8:15:"David ruled over all Israel and made sure that his people were always treated fairly and justly."There is one more scripture again, Luke 19:10. It talks about Jesus Christ:"The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost."We see from the days of Moses, God was preparing the people for the coming of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. To David, He promises that a son from him would rule forever. And from David, we see Jesus Christ coming, who now rules forever. It helps us remember that God has not forgotten His promises. He is ruling in Christ as the scriptures reveal. It shows there is a Kingdom running right now. God has promised more things about this leadership to come. There is a time coming and we will see this Kingdom much more clearly. Revelation 19:15:"Out of his mouth came a sharp sword with which he will defeat the nations. He will rule over them with a rod of iron. And he will trample out the wine in the winepress of the furious anger of the Almighty God."It shows that the war isn't over. There is a war. Don't think so much about these wars of the earth... those are rooted in human weakness. But there is a war with the right cause, bringing righteousness. And the scripture clearly reveals Christ Jesus as a triumphant warrior. One who has already won—we know where He won from, on the Cross—and we know that we are coming to victory. He is bringing His church to victory.God sent His Son into the world so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. We find that in John 3:16.So God has loved everyone. And we thank Him. This includes everyone in His Kingdom. You don't say, "Me, I'm left behind." No. God is the God of justice. This is where you are included. Now for people who feel oppressed: Will you please come to Jesus? Because in Him there is no oppression. The oppressed are set free. In Him, you have your justice. You have your freedom. When you accept Him, He sets you free. This is what it takes. It takes you to believe in Him. It takes you to accept the sacrifice which was made for you for the forgiveness of your sins. And then you relate with Him.It is the Divine Belonging. Belonging with Christ. You know He is your Savior. You surrender. Sometimes we surrender to humans when we are defeated. But here He defeated, not us, but the enemy who held us captive. Failing to come and identify with Him is ignorance that keeps us in the dark under captivity. We need to know that we've been set free by the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, the Deliverer. We need to know we are free and come back to Him and live triumphant with Him.May the Lord bless you. May the Lord keep you sSupport the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    A Golden Upbringing

Send us Fan MailGod commanded the people of Israel to obey Him and instruct their children in righteousness. We must maintain commitment to setting a good example of obedience in order for children to practically witness the difference when God is so close to His people. Obviously no one has any greater capacity to do that than a God-fearing parent. What are some of the challenges that hinder us from setting a good example of obedience before our children?Read Deuteronomy 6:7, again: "Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates." Why is it that some parents find it very hard to teach God's word to their children? If you were to make a deliberate plan for teach Godliness to your children, how would it look like?Read your Bible with understanding and pray with your family continually. This will help you know and obey God's word yourself before you try to teach it to your children. Consider making a deliberate plan for teaching Godliness to your children.Ask God to help you overcome the challenges you have already observed, in your commitment to setting a good example of obedience before your children?Israel, remember this! The Lord—and the Lord alone—is our God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Never forget these commands that I am giving you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Significance of Raising Children in Righteousness

Send us Fan MailWe are concluding the 40 days of Reconciliation series in the next four days. We are going to have an overlap. Day 37 of the 40 days of Reconciliation is going to be day one of our Family Leadership series. The only thing that is not yet certain is how many episodes we are going to have. At minimum, they might be seven, but there will not be 40. The maximum will be 20. That should help you to expect how long this journey is going to take.We encourage you to participate more than you during the 40 Days of Reconciliation series. I hope everybody here is part of a family, you are either leading a family or you are just young in your parents' home. This is relevant to everyone. We are all born in families. We are going to look at the significance of helping children grow in the fear of God, and we are going to look at biblical examples. The first one being Moses. We see God walking with Moses as he is leading the people of Israel. But there is one thing that happened: when God told him to speak to the rock, Moses remembered that God had earlier told him to hit his rod on the rock. So what happened here is that he dwelt on the past and forgot the current.God told him to speak to the rock, but the people were very hard, so they made him angry, and he ended up hitting the rock in anger. This did not please God because he did not do what God had told him to do.He is also a very good example because the people you lead can really make you angry to the extent that you even forget where you were. So Moses is a very good example. You really don't have to be so angry to the extent that you lose focus. So, the lesson we learn as we lead our families—there are about three things in this one element: Paying close attention to God's word is essential. We should not take it for granted. Many times don't we think that what God did yesterday is what he's going to do today? We know He is alive, he's not static. But we think He works like a machine. We don't think He has a mind.God changes things. Even when he doesn't change, he changes things. He's a God of innovation, and as some people will tell you, He is also a God of humor. He's a God of wisdom. If you don't listen intently, you will miss a lot. Our elder Moses missed this because the people made him angry. Why is this crucial to us? Respectfully, Moses was a very key prophet. There has been no one like him from history to date. That's why we need to carefully address this topic as we pick our lessons. So may God help us.When we deal with our children, they can make us angry and we speak to them harshly, thinking that we are disciplining them. In the end, we lose our relationship with them, and we also cannot pray effectively because we are covered in anger. May God help us. We find the story about Moses in Numbers Chapter 20, verse 1 to 13.We also have an example of Eli, the High Priest. His story teaches us to raise our children in the fear of God. Unfortunately, for Eli, this wasn't a priority for him. He thought he was serving God, but the challenge is he did not give attention to his children. In the end, these children disobeyed God. Imagine children who are cooking meat, who are sacrificing animals at the altar, but they can still remove pieces of the meat and take it for themselves. Imagine at the altar! These were Eli's children! It had to take young Samuel to rise up and speak God's prophecy against them. This helps us know that by keeping quiet as our children continue to live ungodly and doing abominable things before God, we are shooting ourselves, we are Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Day 36: Surrendered

Send us Fan MailForgive me, I'm not a seasoned speaker. So I'm going to go slow and steady, because clarity is more important to me.Let's begin with prayer. Dear Lord, we thank you so much for this opportunity to share this podcast. Lord, I pray that you will help us to understand and to put this into practice. In the name of Jesus. Amen. Our topic today is "Surrendered." We are looking at a gentleman called Peter, the apostle. After Jesus had given him a test—you remember when Jesus asked him three times, "Peter, do you love me?" After that conversation, Jesus told him, "Let us go." As they were going, he looked back and he noticed somebody else, another disciple, was following. Just like us today, he reacts. Let me read for you what this friend did.And before I read, don't forget that this is our nature. We want to consolidate power and authority in our leadership. So, do we keep the people who we find strong around us or we try to discourage them and let them go?Our purpose today is to help us understand that Jesus wants us to grow skill in our workplaces, to be surrendered, to care less about ourselves, but much more about the kingdom of heaven.John chapter 21 verse 20: "Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus had loved following them, the one who had been reclining at table close to him, and said, 'Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?' When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, 'Lord, what about this man?' Jesus said to him, 'If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me.'"In other words, "Peter, what's your concern? Stay focused."I thank Jesus. I know many people really don't want to associate with him, but I want to tell you the whole fact. The greatest men and women of the world today, if Jesus was here physically, you would be looking for him seriously. And your desire would be that even if he mentioned your name, that would be enough. Just mentioning your name positively, that would be enough. But here, people are under delusion. They don't want to talk about him confidently. Leave him to us. We know whom we have found. So, let me tell you about this man. Jesus teaches us, he changes us, he transforms us, he makes us better people. We thank him for that. Peter had this opportunity to learn this. Now, for us here, our message, since we are reading this story, may we also allow God to transform us inwardly so that we can grow skill around us, and we bless people. We should care less about ourselves. We should care more about the kingdom of heaven.God does not run short of blessings. He's God of heaven and earth, creator of heaven and earth. He created the world out of nothing. So, why are we concerned about the leadership, the positions that he has given us, that we don't want to grow capable people around us?So the message today is, and before I even continue, I would like you to know that even me who is speaking, I'm not different. I'm not any better. I am not an angel. But I still have to share so that we can learn this and do what God wants.God wants us to grow skill around us, and to love his people. To strengthen his people. Not to consolidate power and authority around us.And again, I want to remind you, friends, don't watch, read or listen to these podcasts with a political or religious eye, you'll miss a lot. Just be who you are. Thank you so much. May God bless you. Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Grace and Spiritual Warfare: Pray Continually

Send us Fan MailWhen Mordecai left the king’s presence, he was wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold and a purple robe of fine linen. And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration. For the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy, gladness and honor. In every province and in every city to which the edict of the king came, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.Esther 8:15-17The king of Persia removed his wife, Queen Vashti, from the position of Queen, for disobedience. A search is held for a new queen, and a young Jewish woman named Esther is chosen for her beauty and grace. Esther had kept her Jewish identity a secret.Mordecai was Esther's cousin and guardian, he overheard and exposed a plot to assassinate the king and saved his life. The king's arrogant and powerful official, Haman, planned to hurt Mordecai, for he had refused to bow to him. Haman made plan to destroy all the Jewish people in the empire. He convinced the king to issue a decree for the jews to be killed.Mordecai learned of the plot and urged Queen Esther to intervene. He warned her that she couldn't remain silent, for she may have become queen for such a time, to save her people.Risking her own life, Esther approached the king without being summoned. Instead of making her request immediately, she invited the king and Haman to two separate banquets. At the second banquet, Esther revealed her Jewish identity to the king and exposed Haman's plot to kill her and her people. Eventually, Haman was executed on the very gallows he had built for Mordecai. The king issued a new one decree allowing the Jewish people to defend themselves against their enemies. The Jews were victorious. Mordecai was promoted to a place of honor, and the freedom of worship for the jews was restored.LESSONS FROM QUEEN ESTHER'S STORY:DO NOT SURRENDER TO THE ENEMY. Are there cases where we surrender to the enemy instead of praying and listening to God with steadfast faith? How about the challenges we face, are you ready to give up and surrender? Courage and Triumphant Lifestyle

Send us Fan MailWhen we receive Christ as our Lord and personal Savior, it’s the beginning of a new life, the start of an exciting learning journey filled with amazing experiences.  In the walk of salvation, the most significant form of learning is experiential. God is Spirit and communicating with Him will be extremely hard unless we have surrendered fully to Him, remain obedient and full of the Holy Spirit each second of our life on earth.  When we receive the Holy Spirit we should never assume all struggles are over.  The mind will need to be trained in the knowledge and fear of God experientially.  This underscores the importance of keeping the mind pure, attentive and sober each second of our life on earth.Filling our minds with the word of God will bring healing and eternal life if we obey God continually.  The word of God is sharper than a double edged sword, with great power to fight against the devil’s evil tricks.  It’s strong enough to protect us from any form of corruption and enslavement.  Blessings will flourish in the lives, families and generations that obey God as Abraham did.  God desires everyone to live with each other in harmony, sober, loving and ready to pray.  It’s very important to pray and read the word of God together regularly. A true Christian should know Christ personally as his Lord and Savior and should endeavor to be active in Church.  Take on the armor of God and pray without ceasing, asking God to direct your paths so that, even if it may be hard for you to find effective opportunities for sharing your faith in Church, you can influence your Church to a revival through your lifestyle.  Allow God to live mightily in your life and to work through you for your redemption and healing.  By this God will work through you for the redemption and healing of many souls, even when you may not be physically aware. While we all wait for our Lord’s return, it’s much safer to regard each day as if it were our last day on earth.  There will no longer be any more opportunities to repent or correct our wrongs after death.God does not expect us to be spirit-filled and just rest with it.  Just as water refreshes, a spirit-filled life will bring healing and restore Godly worship to as many as believe.Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Walk The Talk: Shifting Trends

Send us Fan MailI met a friend online during a Bible study fellowship, and he asked me a wonderful question: "What is the percentage of Christians in your country?" I told him 80%. He said, "How many of those are practicing Christians?" I didn't have the data, but all I know is that it's very hard to tell, but it's not a big number. This made me think, how about the 20%? The experiences we face, the bad things, unreliability, things that are not good… Are they done by the other 20%?The term 'born again' first appears in the New Testament during Jesus' teaching. Nicodemus comes along and he's teaching him about being born again. Nicodemus doesn't understand, wonders whether one has to go back into the mother's womb and come out again. Jesus helps him understand. Today we don't ask Nicodemus' questions because he helped us to understand. The word 'Christian' came later to refer to the people who follow Jesus Christ and obey him. This implies that at the beginning, the term 'born again' and the word 'Christian', those two terms are the same. They mean the same person. But time changed, and then things were different.Back to us today, saying 'I'm a Christian' doesn't really mean much, because being a Christian doesn't mean you really obey God. It simply means you belong to the Christian community. And we've come to a time when describing oneself as 'born again' doesn't make much sense. People have been using the term 'born again' to tell you, "I am a Christian, but one who is practicing what the Bible says." This trend is shifting now. People say, "I'm born again," and then they ask them, "Which church do you go to? Who is your pastor?"So the church and the pastor are becoming defining factors as to whether the person who is saying he's born again is truly on the right track, because everyone is probably on a scale set by men. The good news here is that God is still the same, as the scriptures tell us, and he never changes. He's still the righteous God. Only we, the people, keep changing. We even find words to describe ourselves. But God really wants us to obey him. Despite all the changing terminologies, perceptions, descriptions, the word of God remains the same. Of course, as the scriptures say, that the word of God shall not pass away. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the word of God shall not pass away. That is our hope. We need to live genuine, true to the word of God. Say things that are true to yourself. Walk the talk. Even if everybody else around you may change, do not change. That's why it's important as you pray, to read the word of God as well, in order to grow in knowledge and understanding. It's important to read with the mind, with intellect. It is very essential. Ask questions. Be part of a Bible study group. Do not think you know it all alone; that could lead you into some kind of heretical path, and you don't want to be there. You need to be part of a group, share your reasoning, let them share theirs.Accept the Holy Spirit. Many people have decided to set themselves against the Holy Spirit. They really have nothing to do with him, but they are Christians, and they will fail. Get to understand, please, that the Holy Spirit has been given to God's children who obey, to help them in understanding the word of God. Please, do not set yourself against him. It will not help you. We need God's Holy Spirit. As we close this discussion, there are four essential things to remember. Pray without ceasing. Study God's word continually. Join a Bible study group. Tell people what God has done for you. Be Support the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

    Transcending Peace Within

Send us Fan MailAllow me today to share an experience I had just recently when I went to fuel the car I was driving, and something really unexpected happened. Our topic today, let us follow the topic "Transcending Peace Within."I remember every Sunday in the church, a priest would say, "May the peace of God which passes all understanding..." He would proclaim peace over us. Things we take passively, but they are real. I don't take God passively, and I pray always that whenever I go to a church, I ask God to open my ears and my inner understanding because there is a lot that God speaks to us through the scriptures, through the priests that God has given us.So, people of God, servants of God, thank you. And whenever I'm in a church, I want to listen. This time round, this is something in the marketplace, an experience. When I think about it right now as I share in this podcast, I look back and I'm full of joy because of the outcome of the kind of response, unexpected response. When we choose to take this for real, the kind of experience and response we get afterwards will bring joy and inner transcending peace. So, at a fuel station, a gentleman does not read the sticker that says "Diesel". He doesn't want to look at it. He just puts in petrol. Thank God, he stops slightly before he puts in one liter, after I ask him, "What are you putting in?"Yeah, here where I come from, in my country, sometimes we don't read. Sometimes we can call when we are at a signpost; for example, if I'm going to Banana Hotel (doesn't exist), I'll be at the signpost and make a call, "Hello, where is the way to Banana Hotel?" even when there are arrows that show where I should go.The gentleman, upon realizing he had put in the wrong fuel, he was timid. I was calm inside because I feel I've been transformed, and I'm undergoing transformation still in many other areas. But in this one, I thank God. I felt transcending peace, even when there was a crisis before me.The gentleman does not read. He gives me wrong fuel. What is my response? Now, before I continue, what would be your response? I wish this was a discussion and I hear your experiences, wherever, whichever culture, what would be your immediate response? The gentleman came over to apologize. But here's something strange on me again. Let me ask you, especially the practicing Christian believers who are reading. (Remember, my podcasts are not only for Christians. Please, these podcasts are for everyone). But let me ask a question for my fellow believers. In that case, what do you do?And then there was another technician, by God's grace, he hadn't gone home. It was at night. Two technicians were able to give me advice from their experience. The matter was resolved. The gentleman who had put in wrong fuel had become calm seeing I was focused on solutions and not against him. That also gave me peace. His colleague was working with me to find the solution. The management also quickly understood. There was nothing like, "No. You need to pay for this crime." I wanted peace for everyone. I hope this gentleman will know that God changes people, and he can change him as well. As I share this podcast with you, everyone, wherever we are, we don't really have to talk too much, but how we react, how we respond to a situation has very many effects. There is peace within, as a result of how we respond to situations. It determines how we affect the other people. And in our Christian world, for us who believe in Christ, this is how we changeSupport the showGo to attune40.com for video or reading option.

Why I Need A Mentor: Navigating a Difficult Season

Send us Fan MailIn our previous topic we said, "If you find obstacles or notice a lack of moral compass for your leader, know at once you need a mentor."Please also note that it's possible to brand a leader wrongly, simply because of impatience or conflict of interests. In any case, it's not advised to launch an opposition against your leader. Do not even attempt to do so secretly. Instead, please follow internal guidelines and procedures to address your concerns. If these don't help, you might have two options; resign or seek a mentor to help you navigate the difficult season. In this topic we will look at God walking with Joseph through his terrifying experiences. The rest of us, let's look for human mentors! The most inspirational story for young people is Joseph’s victorious response to serious problems as recorded in the book of Genesis chapter 39. Joseph was the 11th of the 12 sons of Jacob. He was voluntarily loved by his father, because he was the son of his old age (Gen. 37:3). But his brothers hated him for that. Joseph was an obedient boy as he grew up. His brothers weren’t as well behaved and Joseph kept reporting them to their father.Joseph had a dream twice, that clearly indicated God was preparing him for leadership and that his parents and brothers would bow before him one day. Jacob didn’t understand but he did not fight the boy. He only kept thinking about it. His other sons were terrible that time. These brothers, ten of them, plotted to kill their brother Joseph just for his dreams and being favored by his father. Reuben advised them to throw him in a dry well instead, and later Judah advised they sell him to Ishmaelite traders. That started his days of suffering as a captive, slave, then prisoner, before God finally fulfilled His plan for him. After Joseph was separated from His father Jacob, he was deprived of a credible mentor, at least an encourager. God had already started communicating to Joseph through dreams, which even Jacob was still yet to understand. Joseph’s life appeared unfortunate even when he was being prepared for a position of high-level leadership. In a dry well – he could have died of hunger or suffocation by water. The traders could have killed him on the way. In slavery he could have been lost forever without trace. After being charged falsely with rape he could have been sentenced to death. In a foreign prison he could have died there and forgotten. None of the challenges he went through stood in the way of his relationship with God. He kept a close relationship with God and by that God’s favor evidently remained on him.Did the rage kill the dream? No!  Did the tricks of an adulterous woman overcome the dream? No! Did prison life and the test of time stop the dream? No!  So, what helped Joseph? He kept his faith in God and feared Him above all. If Joseph was here, I would recommend Him as the priority mentor choice. Now you have to find one that at least beats all others in excellence of character, learning and allegiance to God. If Joseph had discarded God's sovereign power like we often do, where would his stubbornness have reached him? And if we don't learn from Golden history, what type of world will we reap tomorrow?
