Episode 13: Infant Loss and Infertility
Bridgette Young was born in central Florida and later relocated to SE Georgia during her middle school years. Having attended Christian schools throughout her life, she embraced her faith at the age of 11. In 2017, she married her husband, Blake, and together they have a delightful 4-year-old daughter named Willow. Their shared mission is to serve as missionaries in Colombia, South America, and they have recently completed language school in Mexico to further their calling. Following her personal experiences of enduring two ectopic pregnancies, one with a heartbeat, and facing the loss of her ability to have more children, she was inspired to write a book called “Lost in the Gray.” This heartfelt work serves as a valuable resource for women who are navigating the difficult journey of infant loss and/or infertility, providing support and guidance that she herself wished she had at the time. Emily McVey is not only a devoted mother to an amazing 4-year-old, but she is also a woman who has faced profound grief at a young age. At 19, she tragically lost her mother to ovarian cancer within just two short months. This devastating loss ignited within Emily a deep understanding of the immense pain and challenges that accompany the grieving journey. In 2018, life presented another unexpected blow as Emily faced the loss of her beloved brother. Despite these heart-wrenching experiences, Emily has shown immense strength and resilience. In 2019, she embraced the beautiful role of motherhood, navigating the delicate balance between healing and nurturing her child. Unfortunately, tragedy struck again in 2023 when Emily tragically lost her best friend to breast cancer. Through these experiences, Emily has developed a profound empathy and a unique perspective on life’s challenges.

Family holds great importance in their lives, and they cherish their strong bond. Grief has woven its way into Nicole’s life, as her children never met their grandfather, and she got married without her father by her side. These experiences have shaped her perspective and deepened her commitment to helping others through their grief journeys. Nicole draws strength from her parents’ 33-year marriage and the support she shares with her mother as an only child. Together, they found solace and healing during their shared loss.
